Chapter 25 Invited to Family Dinner
The next morning, Li Qiwei and his two companions finally left London and began their journey to Germany.
The surging waves, the roaring train, the bumpy carriage, Hong'er chattered all the way, very excited.
Li Qiwei and Li San were both drowsy throughout the whole process and just wanted to sleep because of the noise.
Fortunately, everything went well. After four days and four nights, the three finally arrived in Berlin on the morning of July 7th.
After checking into the hotel, Li Qiwei immediately contacted Planck to inquire about the next arrangements.
When Planck heard the news, he was very happy and invited Li Qiwei to visit his home tonight.
He also prepared a small welcome party for Li Qiwei tomorrow, and the attendees will basically be students and professors from the Department of Physics at the University of Berlin.
Li Qiwei expressed his flattery and agreed to attend the banquet on time in the evening.
After coming back, he told Li San and Hong'er to go with him, but they refused to agree, saying that they were not used to eating with foreigners, so they had to give up.
Li Qiwei asked Hong'er to prepare a few small gadgets suitable for gifts, and he would bring them over in the evening.
As the young master of a large family, Li Qiwei brought all kinds of novel domestic handmade products from home after arriving in the UK, just to be able to cope with such occasions.
So Li Qiwei had nothing to do this afternoon.
He walked alone on the streets of Berlin, feeling the charm of this world-famous city.
The familiar short video that I had seen in later generations suddenly rang in my ears.
[Background music: "The dream is too long, look up at the moonlight"]
[Video: That night, the Berlin air defense tower lit up the entire night sky. ]
Of course, although Berlin is the capital of Germany, it is not as prosperous as imagined.
It is far inferior to the megacities of later generations and is not even comparable.
But there is a heavy sense of history, which is especially fascinating for Li Qiwei who traveled through time.
Before he knew it, he had spent the entire afternoon strolling around.
After checking the time on his pocket watch, Li Qiwei walked towards Plank's home.
At night, on a street in downtown Berlin, Li Qiwei stood in front of a house and knocked on the door gently.
"Oh, Bruce, you're finally here, welcome!" Planck gave Li Qiwei a hug and invited him in.
"Hello, Professor, this is a gift I brought. It's not often seen in Berlin."
"Oh, Bruce, you are so polite. Melk, come here quickly, Bruce is here."
At this time, a middle-aged woman who looked charming and had a smile on her face came over. She was Planck's first wife.
"Oh my God, these porcelains are so exquisite and this gift is so precious." Melk exclaimed after receiving the gift.
"This is just a little gift from me. Without Professor Planck's guidance, I would not have been able to publish the paper so quickly," Li Qiwei said with a smile.
Plank quickly pulled Li Qiwei towards the restaurant.
"Haha, Bruce, don't be so modest. This is mainly your achievement. I am just benefiting from it."
"Come on, sit down quickly. You must be tired and hungry after traveling all the way."
"Melk, please serve our Bruce food quickly."
So the two of them discussed the issue while eating. Melk did not sit at the table because she had to take care of her four children.
No one knew where the little ones had gone crazy, and what Li Qiwei didn't know was that these four children would have a tragic fate in the future.
At this moment, he was eating and chatting with Planck about physics and the upcoming regular meeting of the Berlin Physical Society.
"Professor, I want to know who will be attending this regular meeting. Please don't put pressure on me. I don't want to meet another Lord Kelvin."
Plank was amused by Ridgway's joke and explained, "Don't worry, Bruce, everyone is here to listen to your report and speech this time."
"No one will make things difficult for you because of your status. After all, even Lord Kelvin lost to you. Others are not stupid."
"Moreover, some heavyweight physicists will participate in this regular meeting." Li Qiwei's heart moved, and then with Planck's introduction, he realized the high-end and grand nature of this meeting.
There are too many big guys among the people who came, including:
Wilhelm Röntgen, now 55, won the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1895 for his discovery of X-rays in 1901.
Ludwig Boltzmann, 56, is known for his work on the Boltzmann equation for statistical physics.
Hermann Minkowski, 36, Einstein's teacher.
Emil Fischer, now 48, a good friend of Planck, won the 1902 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
These are all existing big names, not future stars like Einstein.
At the same time, from Planck, Li Qiwei also learned about some future bigwigs, such as:
Max Laue, now 21 years old, studied under Minkowski and later under Planck, and won the 1914 Nobel Prize in Physics.
Fritz Haber, now 32 years old, won the 1918 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for being the first to produce ammonia from the air, freeing humanity from natural nitrogen fertilizers.
Of course, in addition to the above-mentioned bigwigs, there were also many professors, students and others attending the conference.
The Berlin Physical Society's membership is not limited to physics, but also includes many experts from other fields.
And because of the regional nature of the society, the invited guests are mainly scientists from Germany or scholars temporarily residing in Germany.
As a result, many names that Li Qiwei was familiar with did not appear.
However, the above people are enough.
Any one of them would be a figure that could be included in textbooks in later generations.
Now, they are all attracted to Li Qiwei and want to see what kind of genius this creator of [quantum mechanics] is like.
After thinking about these celebrities in his mind, Li Qiwei smiled bitterly and said, "Professor, I really feel the pressure now."
"However, I am very grateful for giving me this opportunity, which is very important to me."
"We Chinese need to have our own voice in the field of science!"
Planck was moved by Li Qiwei's powerful words, and he sincerely hoped that Li Qiwei's motherland would become stronger.
He could feel that the other person was carrying too much.
Although he didn't know why Li Qiwei did this, he would support him without reservation.
So, Planck got in the mood, and he, who never drank alcohol, actually drank several glasses of wine with Li Qiwei.
In this pleasant atmosphere, the two talked more and more happily, and the room was filled with laughter.
By the time Li Qiwei rushed back to the hotel, it was already past 10 o'clock in the evening.
After several days of hard work and drinking, Li Qiwei is now a little drunk and his consciousness is blurred.
Hong'er smelled alcohol on him and hurriedly helped him take off his clothes. After wiping his body, she helped him to bed to rest.
Unexpectedly, Li Qiwei, whether because of drunkenness or other reasons, actually kissed Hong'er on the forehead.
Hong'er was frightened at once, her cheeks turned red, and she stood by the bed, at a loss as to what to do.
He lowered his head and rubbed the clothes with his hands.
At this time, Li Qiwei was lying on the bed, unaware of his actions just now, and snoring softly.
Hong'er walked to his side, looked at him quietly, and tidied his messy hair.
There was a charming smell on Li Qiwei that made Hong'er feel hot all over and her mouth dry.
She didn't know what kind of feeling this was. She just wanted to serve the young master for the rest of her life and never leave.
Out of concern that Li Qiwei might be thirsty in the middle of the night, Hong'er lay beside the bed and waited for him until he fell asleep with a faint smile on her lips.
The first round of recommendations will be posted at midnight on Sunday, and I am very nervous. Please start reading and collecting more of my books, thank you very much~
