Chapter 834: The new trump card of the Discipline Committee

Chapter 834: Judgment's New Ace

“Boring things… such as?” Lin Wuming’s curiosity was piqued. From Accelerator’s words, it seemed he had been doing something during the summer break.

“Most of the time was spent dealing with that troublesome brat,” Accelerator said with a frown.

Without needing to think, it was clear that the “troublesome brat” he referred to was naturally Final Signal.

Lin Wuming was not surprised by this; he had already heard relevant information from the Misaka Network.

As seen during the last Summer Festival, Accelerator was routinely involved in childcare activities.

Besides Final Signal, according to Accelerator, he would occasionally encounter Misaka Worst. He wondered what that strange Misaka Clone was doing, as she seemed to be active all over Academy City.

Of course, apart from his interactions with the “strange Misaka Sisters,” Accelerator actually spent most of his time on “Judgment” activities.

This was what he referred to as “boring things.”

After all, for the strongest Esper ranked number one, the incidents Judgment encountered daily were minor issues that could be resolved with a flick of his hand.

Although incidents requiring Accelerator’s involvement were usually quite serious.

But how to put it? How many troublesome things in this world could even give Accelerator a headache?

On the other hand, for an organization like Judgment, which maintains urban order, what they most hoped for was to never have to deploy Accelerator, their “ace”!

That’s right, Accelerator was already Judgment’s “ace”; he was also another special member directly assigned by the Chairman, following Lin Wuming.

In other words, Accelerator had replaced Lin Wuming’s original position.

Because Lin Wuming was now an “Nameless Board Member,” a member of the Board of Directors, he could theoretically even be considered the Chairman’s superior.

Therefore, the relationship between the two became somewhat awkward. Unless absolutely necessary, the Chairman was unwilling to easily trouble Lin Wuming to act.

Coincidentally, while Lin Wuming was “promoted,” he also recommended Accelerator to join Judgment, perfectly filling his original ecological niche.

Accelerator was also a Level 5 Esper, and his strength goes without saying. Most crucially, his “Vector Manipulation” could almost be considered a “universal ability”—at least in Accelerator’s hands, it could be used in many incredible ways.

Not just for fighting, but even many small problems in daily life could be easily solved by him.

Simply perfect!

The only slight drawback was Accelerator’s own personality and his lack of communication skills.

However, Lin Wuming was actually quite similar in this regard, so it didn't really matter.

Lin Wuming listened and couldn't help but secretly praise him.

He hadn't expected Accelerator to actually participate in Judgment activities, and he seemed to be doing quite well.

It was a pity that both he and Hu Feng Toumi had withdrawn from the front lines, often even forgetting their identity as “Judgment.” Therefore, they were not very well-informed about the organization’s news.

“By the way, I wonder how Shirai Kuroko is doing…” Lin Wuming suddenly thought that among the people he frequently interacted with, there was still an active, current Judgment member.

“…Senior Wuming’s thunder has been completely stolen,” Shirai Kuroko complained. “Now many Judgment members treat Accelerator as their idol.”

“Accelerator?” Misaka Mikoto had some reactive response to that name, but only to that extent. “Well, there’s nothing wrong with that. After all, Senior Wuming didn’t really put much effort into Judgment activities.”

“That’s true…” Shirai Kuroko suddenly let out a heavy sigh. “It’s unavoidable that Senior Wuming and Onee-sama are busy with all sorts of important matters; I can understand that. After all, compared to Judgment activities, those other matters are indeed more severe and important.”

Hearing her roommate’s rambling, Misaka Mikoto knew that Shirai Kuroko was complaining and protesting.

Because she had been left out of the last two operations.

Misaka Mikoto had no choice but to comfort her and promise to remember to include her in future operations.

“Since Onee-sama said so, just don’t forget in the future,” Shirai Kuroko wisely knew when to stop and then continued, “By the way, I haven’t visited Senior Wuming since he recovered and was discharged from the hospital. How about we pay him a visit after school today?”

“I don’t mind,” Misaka Mikoto said, “but I might have something after school…”

“It’s fine,” Shirai Kuroko said with a smile. “I can go by myself.”

“No, I mean…” Misaka Mikoto looked at her roommate, puzzled. “Hasn’t Ruiko told you yet?”

“Huh? Saten-chan?” Shirai Kuroko was confused—what was wrong with Saten Ruiko again? Did she have her own plans after school?

Just as she was speaking, Shirai Kuroko’s phone rang.

It was indeed Saten Ruiko, inviting her to a small gathering after school, saying there was something important to discuss.

“So, Onee-sama also received an invitation?” Shirai Kuroko looked up at Misaka Mikoto.

“Yes, just a little while ago,” Misaka Mikoto nodded. “It seems Ruiko is notifying everyone one by one.”

“What kind of important matter is it that’s being handled so formally?” Shirai Kuroko also became serious.

Generally, for an after-school gathering like this, a message in the group chat would suffice; there was no need for individual phone calls.

“It seems we can only go listen to Saten-chan’s matter first,” Shirai Kuroko sighed softly.

“It’s almost time for the bell, hurry back,” Misaka Mikoto checked the time and decided to end the conversation.

They were not in the same class, or even the same grade, so they both had to return to their respective classrooms before class started.

As Misaka Mikoto ran down the hallway, disregarding her lady-like demeanor, she encountered a long-haired version of herself.

Dolly, or Taoli—recently, the two of them had suddenly taken a liking to switching identities, so even Misaka Mikoto couldn't tell who was who.

“Onee-sama!” In private, Dolly and Taoli also followed the uniform way all Misaka Sisters addressed her. “You…”

Mid-sentence, Dolly shook her head again, seemingly giving up on continuing.

This made Misaka Mikoto even more curious: “What’s wrong? Are you looking for me?”

“It’s not a particularly important matter,” Dolly said, “and Onee-sama probably can’t do anything about it anyway. Ah, Misaki-chan is also worried sick.”
