Chapter 920: There Are Three More Like Me
To prevent Front from struggling, Knight Captain volunteered to be his “roommate,” precisely so he could intervene in time to suppress him at critical moments.
However, Front showed no special reaction or movement. Ever since he regained consciousness and woke up, he had been quietly resting on the bed, showing no intention of breaking out and escaping. This somewhat relieved Knight Captain, Stiyl, and Kanzaki Kaori, who were in the adjacent room.
As both a kind reminder and a warning, Knight Captain specifically informed Front not to act rashly or attempt to escape from prison. The area around this room was monitored by members of Amakusa-style Cross Rosicrucian on a 24-hour rotating shift.
And the members of Amakusa-style wield a powerful magic called “Saint Fall.”
As the name suggests, this is a special attack magic targeting “Saints,” making it perfectly suitable for guarding Front, who is a Saint.
Front wasn’t too concerned about “Saint Fall,” as he had no intention of escaping or retaliating in the first place.
The battle with Lin Wuming just now seemed to have given him a significant shock; after being defeated, Front became even more silent, and for a considerable period, he barely acknowledged Knight Captain beside him.
“I lost.” After a long while, Front finally spoke, “What an incredible person—that Lin Wuming.”
Immediately after, Front sat up, looked at Knight Captain, and said seriously, “And then, things will probably get very troublesome. The Papal State will not let this rest.”
“Why do you say that?” Knight Captain retorted, “I, on the other hand, think the situation will calm down. Even you were defeated; unless they’re fools, the Roman Orthodox Church will only become calmer and more rational.”
“Perhaps, for now, that might be true.” Front did not refute, “In the short term—at least until they figure out exactly what happened—the Orthodox Church should not take overly aggressive actions.”
But then, Front continued, “However, that’s only in the short term. You should know that I am just one member of God's Right Seat. By now, you should already know—the so-called ‘God's Right Seat’ consists of four individuals, named after the four cardinal directions and four elements, symbolizing the power of the four Archangels.”
In other words, the Roman Orthodox Church still had three more powerful and extraordinary individuals like Front!
“Don’t be too self-deprecating,” Knight Captain said, “You should know best how strong you truly are. I don’t believe the Roman Orthodox Church could have anyone stronger than you! Unless they’ve also gathered three other Saints…”
Front’s power was the product of the double superposition of “Angel Power” of “God's Right Seat” and his own Saint power. Furthermore, Front himself was a genius who possessed both Saint physique and Virgin Mary physique simultaneously, meaning he had all sorts of buffs stacked.
In other words, Front’s situation was an anomaly among anomalies, essentially irreplicable.
Even the Roman Orthodox Church, with its hundreds of millions of followers, could not find a second Front.
Front, however, shook his head: “No, you only think that because you don’t know how outrageous that guy Fiamma is…”
“Fiamma?” Knight Captain narrowed his eyes, “According to the naming rules of God's Right Seat, the fire element corresponds to red and the right side, symbolizing ‘one who is like God’ Michael… So he should be called Fiamma of the Right; and judging from the organization name God's Right Seat, you consider the right as supreme, so that Fiamma of the Right is your current boss, right?”
“You could say that,” Front said.
Knight Captain narrowed his eyes and fell silent, showing no intention of continuing the conversation.
He and William Orwell were close friends, and he still believed that to this day—even though he had been beaten so badly by William Orwell.
Precisely because he was a “close friend,” Knight Captain was the person who understood William Orwell best, knowing how truly proud and arrogant this uninhibited man was at his core.
However, given the strength William Orwell displayed, words like “proud” and “arrogant” were statements without any negative connotations.
And a man like that held such a high opinion of Fiamma of the Right…
“It’s necessary to prioritize collecting information about Fiamma of the Right.” In the adjacent room, separated by a wall, Stiyl and Kanzaki Kaori listened to the entire conversation between the two.
Stiyl said with a serious expression, “As expected of the largest Cross Religion denomination, the Pope truly has incredible hidden trump cards.”
Although he hadn’t personally witnessed Front’s battle, Stiyl could easily infer the strength of this God's Right Seat member from Knight Captain’s experience and Kanzaki Kaori’s description.
—If it were him fighting Front… To be frank, he wouldn’t stand a chance!
“Report it to Archbishop,” Kanzaki Kaori said, “This level of opponent and battle must be decided by Archbishop himself.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve already done that,” Stiyl lit a cigarette, seemingly wanting to momentarily forget these troublesome matters.
“But speaking of which,” Stiyl suddenly said, “We seem to have overlooked something.”
“What?” Kanzaki Kaori asked.
“Front is so powerful—that’s an undeniable fact, so…” Stiyl looked out the porthole at the land that had disappeared from sight, “How strong is Lin Wuming, who defeated Front?”
After a moment of contemplation, Kanzaki Kaori shook her head, also showing a troubled expression: “I don’t quite understand Mr. Lin Wuming’s strength either, but if we were to fight… My chances of winning probably wouldn’t be very high, would they?”
“Indeed…” Stiyl sighed, “He’s truly an incredible fellow…”
Although they had always cooperated with Academy City as allies, Stiyl had actually always been careful to control the situation, trying his best to avoid triggering conflicts between the Scientific Side and the Magic Side.
If a direct war broke out between the two major factions, it would benefit no one.
Therefore, Stiyl had actually always been against involving Lin Wuming in the Cross Religion and Magic Side incidents; in Academy City, having the Level 0 Esper Kamijou Touma as a collaborator was enough.
Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, the fact was that since July of this year, Lin Wuming had been repeatedly drawn into “non-scientific side” incidents.
Moreover, it was unclear what went wrong, but Lin Wuming, despite being a top Esper, actually learned and mastered magic!
Now, whether Lin Wuming and Academy City liked it or not, they had already been noticed by the Magic Side, and they were even a 重點關注 .
And then, another development beyond Stiyl’s expectations—because Lin Wuming displayed extraordinary strength, he actually intimidated the Magic Side into not daring to act rashly!
It’s just unknown how long this calm will last.
“I wonder when the other three members of God's Right Seat, especially Fiamma of the Right, will make their move…”
Thinking of these things, Stiyl couldn’t help but become worried.
But before worrying about future matters, the most important thing at hand was how to safely return—to bring Front, this important “captive,” before Archbishop Laura.
Stiyl did not believe their journey would be smooth sailing, just as he did not believe the Roman Orthodox Church would remain indifferent.
If he could, Stiyl even wanted to take Front off the ship and return to England quietly via other routes…
