Chapter 168: uninvited guest

Following Zhou You’s gaze, everyone else also noticed the newcomer.

Zhou Chao had quickly pulled out her money pouch from her bosom. “It’s nothing, just a beggar.”

Zhou You raised her hand to block Zhou Chao. “Don’t go over there.”

Zhou Chao was puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

Zhou You faced the doorway. “Did you take a wrong turn, or did you come here specifically?”

The bamboo hat lifted slightly, revealing a shriveled face with a gruesome scar on the left side, and the left eye was just an empty socket.

Her appearance was somewhat old and hideous.

“Heh.”

The old man in the bamboo hat let out a sinister, cold laugh. “It seems I’ve come at just the right time, when you are at your happiest.”

Zhou Xian reprimanded, “Who are you? Our Zhou Family hasn’t made any enemies with you, have we?”

The old man in the bamboo hat chuckled. “Someone asked me to eliminate you. After being nurtured by someone for so many years, it’s only right to repay them.”

“Someone asked you?”

Zhou You raised her eyebrows. “The Lin Family or the Bao Family?”

The old man in the bamboo hat stepped over the threshold, and at that moment, a decaying aura assailed them.

That feeling was like facing a corpse that was on the verge of complete decay.

The old man in the bamboo hat chuckled. “A dead person doesn’t need to know too many things. Who is Zhou You? After I kill her, I need to take her head back.”

Zhou You’s eyes narrowed slightly. “I am Zhou You.”

The old man in the bamboo hat nodded. “Very good, you are very brave. At least in the face of death, you don’t feel afraid.”

Zhou Chao stood nervously beside Zhou You. “You seem to not know him at all?”

Zhou You shook her head. “I don’t know him at all. I haven’t been down the mountain for long, so I haven’t had time to make enemies.”

Zhou Chao cupped his hands and smiled, “Senior, is there some mistake? My younger sister has never caused trouble outside, so why would someone hire an assassin to kill her?”

The corner of the old man’s mouth curled up into a strange smile, a hint of mockery in it.

Zhou Chao’s expression suddenly changed, and he whispered, “Little sister, are you confident? I can’t discern this person’s strength at all.”

Zhou You took a step forward. “Things are truly becoming more and more interesting. Someone would go to such great lengths to kill me. I really can’t figure it out.”

The old man in the bamboo hat smiled, “When you take someone’s money, your hands are short. When you eat someone’s food, your mouth is soft.”

This was his reason for killing.

Zhou You nodded. “Very reasonable. However, your body is almost completely broken. Even if your strength was good before, you can barely exert fifty percent of it now.”

The old man in the bamboo hat smiled, “That’s not important. It’s enough to kill you people.”

As he spoke, his withered Right Hand pointed at Zhou You. “I’ll give you a chance to draw your sword.”

Boom!

Just at this moment, a figure fell from the sky, and the terrifying storm it stirred up blew everyone askew.

The old man in the bamboo hat was even directly sent flying. He was closest to the impact, so he received the greatest force.

Killing intent swirled in the old man’s eyes. He flipped his Right Hand, and a short sword slid out from his sleeve, stabbing at the suddenly appearing man.

“Za Yu, how dare you ambush me?”

The newcomer’s expression turned to great anger. He backhanded the old man in the bamboo hat, sending him flying and crashing through the courtyard gate.

Zhou You frowned. “Xiao Ji?”

Zhou Chao and Zhou Xian were both shocked. Another stronger one came?

Ji Hao looked at Zhou You with cold eyes. “I have something to discuss with you.”

Zhou You smiled. “I don’t care what you have to discuss. What I care about is, how did you find me?”

Ji Hao raised an eyebrow. “Are you questioning the Evil Forces’ ability to find people?”

“Evil Forces?”

The old man in the bamboo hat spat blood from his mouth and nose, scrambling to his feet and hurrying away.

Who the hell could afford to provoke this?

“Stop!”

Ji Hao roared sharply, “Did I tell you to leave? Za Yu!”

The old man in the bamboo hat was terrified, and he abruptly stopped in his tracks.

“What are you doing?”

Zhou You was puzzled.

Zhou Chen, however, was somewhat accustomed to it. This Ji Hao’s temperament was truly… extremely volatile and unpredictable.

Ji Hao strode up to Zhou You, while sharply shouting at the others, “Everyone stand far away from me! Don’t listen to what you shouldn’t hear. Otherwise, I’ll slaughter you Za Yu!”

Zhou Chao’s face turned pale. Evil Forces…

Even a three-year-old child had heard of it.

That was the most Evil Forces on the Kunyuan Continent, and also the largest in number.

Zhou You frowned. “You’re too loud. Tone down your voice.”

Ji Hao gritted his teeth, staring intently at Zhou You. “Today, I’m going to ask you, what exactly happened with that heavenly tribulation that day?”

Zhou You blinked. “Wasn’t it because Evil Cloud Pavilion committed too many evil deeds, and even the heavens couldn’t stand it anymore, which is why it was struck?”

“Bullshit!”

Ji Hao spat. “If it were really that supernatural, our Evil Forces would have been struck dead long ago. Would we still exist until now? In this day and age, those who commit the most evil deeds enjoy endless blessings. Only those who are timid live a repressed life.”

Zhou You was puzzled. “Then what was it because of?”

Ji Hao was startled, and he couldn’t help but feel strange in his heart.

Zhou You’s eyes were very sincere, proving that she really didn’t know how the heavenly tribulation came about.

But if it wasn’t because of Zhou You, then what exactly was it because of?

Ji Hao was a bit confused, after all, they were the only two at the center of the heavenly tribulation at that time.

Zhou You continued, “Actually, after I left, I still thought it was you undergoing tribulation.”

“Bull…”

Ji Hao didn’t finish his curse this time, and then he became smug. “You also think I’m very outstanding? Capable of attracting heavenly tribulation?”

Zhou You nodded. “I did think that before.”

Ji Hao chuckled, a proud expression on his face. “I’ve always thought I was very outstanding too.”

His tone changed. “But, I didn’t attract the heavenly tribulation.”

Zhou You shrugged. “Then I don’t know what’s going on either.”

It couldn’t possibly be herself, could it?

Don’t be ridiculous, is there a genius who can’t break through to the Tuotai Realm for a hundred years?

Clearly, such an absurd thing doesn’t exist.

Ji Hao’s face darkened again. “Could it be those Za Yu who attracted it?”

He was naturally referring to Ou Ye, the old dog, and Xiao Jing.

Zhou You found it amusing. “Do you think that’s possible?”

Ji Hao mused, “Although I only glimpsed them briefly, they really don’t seem like peerless geniuses. They’re just a bunch of dispensable Za Yu.”

Zhou You thought for a moment. “When all possibilities are excluded, the most impossible reason is often the truth.”

Ji Hao suddenly realized. “Evil Cloud Pavilion committed all sorts of evil deeds, thus inviting heavenly punishment.”

As he said this, he felt somewhat uneasy.

Could it be…

Would such a thing really happen?

If so, then if he was born into the Evil Forces, would he also be struck by lightning one day?

Thinking of this, Ji Hao glanced outside. “That Za Yu came to kill you? Why didn’t you kill him?”

Zhou You was helpless. “I hadn’t even had time to act before you arrived.”

Ji Hao snorted coldly. “Za Yu, my business is finished. You can continue what you haven’t finished yet.”
