Chapter 29: How can you curse?

A week passed in a flash.

Cheng Xing had been staying at the Base and hadn't gone out to level up.

Because of the previous L Town incident, the H District gate had been restricted for a week. Although there were other gates to the beginner Disaster Area, at Cheng Xing's level, the gains from the beginner Disaster Area were already minimal.

The nearest E-grade leveling Disaster Area, coincidentally, was right by the H District gate. The other E-grade Disaster Areas were either too far or too dangerous.

Fortunately, Cheng Xing's level was already high enough, so he didn't force it. He ate and drank, and if he encountered any problems he didn't understand, he would call Su Haoran.

From Su Haoran, he learned that Su Yanran's decision had been correct.

After a week of clearing L Town, the A-grade Disaster Beast, Crimson-Eyed Rabid Dog, from the Qingcheng Disaster Area was indeed attracted over.

It was said that the Crimson-Eyed Rabid Dog had severely wounded the War God who was observing the Qingcheng Disaster Area at the time.

It was only when other War Gods arrived later and joined forces that the Crimson-Eyed Rabid Dog was repelled, saving that War God's life.

After this incident, the Qingcheng Disaster Area expanded completely, and the beginner leveling Disaster Area at the H District gate was no longer available.

After packing his belongings, Cheng Xing went directly back to school.

Those taking the ordinary university entrance exam all tested at their schools, while those taking the Martial University exam needed to go to District A to test. Generally, students would be sent to District A by the school, though some with good family conditions would drive themselves.

At this moment, Cheng Xing bid farewell to Zhang Qiang, boarded the Class 1 bus, and waited quietly.

Quite a few students from Class 1 were taking the Martial University exam today, over forty of them. After boarding the bus, some were full of confidence, while others were filled with worry.

After setting off, Li Jiye, as usual, began a morale-boosting speech along the way.

Buses shuttled through the streets, and the scenery outside the windows gradually became more luxurious. Many students who had never left H District were drawn to the outside scenery, letting out gasps of surprise.

Soon, a towering spire that reached into the clouds appeared in their sight. As the bus drove, it gradually grew larger, finally entering the huge domed building beneath the tower.

The South China Martial University's examination venue was at the Adventurers' Guild Headquarters.

As the bus pulled over, students disembarked and lined up by class in front of the bus.

Chu Yanyan, who had arrived early, also returned to the team, standing behind Cheng Xing.

The students from Fourth High School couldn't help but exclaim in awe at the massive building before them.

“A bunch of bumpkins.”

However, their reactions drew sneers from the A District students who had already arrived.

Upon hearing this, the students from Fourth High School immediately glared, and the more impulsive ones began to curse, but the A District students never even gave them a direct look.

No other reason than this: they were students from South China First High School, enjoying the best educational resources of the South China Base.

Compared to the Fourth High School, where levels varied, the average level at First High School was above 7, with the lowest being level 5.

Fourth High School wasn't bad, at least it was comparable to other schools, but First High School's conditions were too good, and resources were heavily skewed, leading to this situation.

Finally, the commotion became too loud, and the accompanying teachers had to intervene to calm the situation down.

“Is that Xu Wenxuan?”

After the small interlude, everyone quieted down, waiting for the exam to begin. Suddenly, a sharp-eyed person from Class 1 spotted someone rushing towards them from a distance.

“That’s right, it’s the vice class monitor.”

“Strange, why is Xu Wenxuan taking a taxi?”

...

Seeing Xu Wenxuan arrive by taxi, many people couldn't help but feel puzzled.

Normally, Xu Wenxuan was ostentatious by nature, always having his father pick him up and drop him off in a BMW for school. How could he miss such an important exam today?

But when they clearly saw Xu Wenxuan, they were all stunned.

At this moment, Xu Wenxuan no longer looked like the rich young master he once was. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes were bloodshot; he was practically a different person.

Seeing the strange looks from his classmates around him, Xu Wenxuan felt immense humiliation.

After being taken away by the police, investigations revealed that his father was imprisoned for suspected murder-for-hire, while he was released due to lack of evidence implicating him.

Originally, Xu Wenxuan wanted to tell his mother about it, but unexpectedly, all of his family's company's partners immediately terminated their collaborations. At the same time, all the company's past dirty dealings were exposed, and overnight, their family went bankrupt. His mother had already absconded with the money to who knows where.

Then, his leveling teammates, no longer receiving resources from the Xu family, also kicked him out of the team.

In his arrogance, he tried to join temporary teams, but he couldn't shed his rich second-generation airs and was successively blacklisted, leaving his level stagnant for a week.

“It’s all because of you! It must be you!”

Xu Wenxuan's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at Cheng Xing in the crowd, then drew a dagger from his waist and charged towards him.

He had racked his brains but couldn't understand why merely targeting a poor student had ultimately brought him to such a wretched state.

Seeing Xu Wenxuan charging with a weapon, the surrounding students couldn't help but gasp in alarm.

However, before he could reach Cheng Xing, he was tackled to the ground by Chu family bodyguards.

He struggled frantically, his face contorted with ferocity, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't budge the bodyguards in the slightest.

“Assault with a knife at the examination venue, disqualification from the exam, hand him over to the police.”

The huge commotion attracted the attention of the examination staff, who immediately issued the penalty and then handed Xu Wenxuan over to the police stationed at the venue.

Only then did the farce come to an end.

Only the startled crowd remained, whispering amongst themselves.

Suddenly, Cheng Xing felt a peculiar gaze and slowly turned his head, discovering that the gaze was coming from the First High School side.

It was then that Cheng Xing saw the person, none other than the fake young master he had recently met—Cheng Yun.

At this moment, Cheng Yun was among the First High School team, surrounded by envious gazes, and many young girls were secretly sending him flirtatious glances.

Cheng Yun's face was full of disdain as he provocatively looked at Cheng Xing, as if saying, 'Look, this position should have been yours, but now it belongs to me.'

He hadn't expected to encounter Cheng Xing here. After all, with his F-grade talent, how could he possibly get into South China Martial University?

But since they had met, he didn't mind humiliating him thoroughly once more.

“Cheng Xing, what are you looking at?”

Chu Yanyan noticed Cheng Xing's gaze and asked curiously.

“Nothing, just looking at an idiot.”

“Pfft, Cheng Xing, that’s no idiot, he’s the Son of War God.”

Chu Yanyan followed Cheng Xing's gaze and couldn't help but burst out laughing. As the Chu family's young miss, she naturally knew Cheng Yun.

“Can’t a Son of War God be an idiot? It’s not like it’s a rare species.”

Cheng Xing shrugged, saying nonchalantly.

“True, it’s not a rare species. It’s just a coincidence that his surname is also Cheng. Cheng Xing, you wouldn’t happen to be relatives with his family, would you?”

“How can you curse people?”

...

Looking at Chu Yanyan beside Cheng Xing, a hint of jealousy flashed in Cheng Yun's eyes. Compared to Chu Yanyan, those young girls secretly sending flirtatious glances seemed much dimmer.

But soon, the feeling of being the center of attention helped him regain some confidence.

Through the leveling grounds Cheng Zhengyang found for him, he had already reached Level 10 within a week. With his talent, he was determined to be the top scorer in this exam.

The only pity was that Cheng Zhengyang had been severely injured in the Disaster Area and had not yet recovered, otherwise he would have thoroughly humiliated Cheng Xing in front of them...
