Chapter 11: Perfect toast

The dilapidated factory building was mostly unfurnished, and in the dim environment, a rough-faced man was counting goods and having his subordinates load them onto a nearby van.

"Move it, everyone! This batch of goods must arrive on time; it's crucial for our gang's future plans! If we succeed, everyone here will be a core member!" Old Sang finished counting, then looked up to motivate the surrounding members, stirring up their enthusiasm.

Just then, a call came through his walkie-talkie, and he picked it up casually: "What's up?"

"Old Sang, there's someone outside, lingering near the factory. A woman, very young, not sure about her background... Hmm? Wait... Okay, someone from Banmu Office knows her, the head of a small independent office."

Old Sang scoffed at this: "These small office people just don't know their place. Drive her away. If she doesn't listen, deal with her and throw her in a trash can somewhere."

"Okay..." The voice on the other end had just responded when there seemed to be a sudden commotion: "What?!"

Old Sang was startled: "What's going on over there?"

"We hadn't even gone to find her, and she attacked first! Wait! Something's wrong! Her violence index isn't low; there are black traces! You guys over there, hurry up!"

With that, the call ended. Old Sang called out a few times but got no response. Under the uneasy gazes of the others around him, his face darkened, and he waved his hand: "What are you staring blankly for! Get moving! Counting can wait; get all the goods out!"

Everyone quickly sped up, and Old Sang himself joined in the work of moving the goods.

In the vehicle, Old Sang suddenly saw a shimmering golden object.

"What is that?!" he roared. What dared to touch his goods!?

He leaned closer to look, and indeed, a bag of goods had been bitten open and spilled, but lying among the goods was a golden and perfectly shaped Toast, which left him momentarily stunned amidst his anxiety, almost wanting to take a bite.

Damn it, why was he still thinking about this at a time like this?

Why were his goods damaged!?

Why was there a piece of Toast bread in this batch of goods!?

He grabbed the piece of Toast bread. It was heavier than it looked, but it was indeed a piece of Toast bread in his hand.

"Who the hell is stealing food and leaving it around!" Unable to find any problem, Old Sang could only curse.

Thud!

Suddenly, the iron door on one side of the factory building was violently rammed, bulging inward significantly, as if a monster outside was trying to break in.

Or maybe it was...

"Drive! Everyone get in the car! Go!" Old Sang had no time to think about the Toast. He hadn't even noticed that he had been inexplicably stunned by a piece of Toast for a while.

All the subordinates got in the car and started the engines.

With another loud bang, another bulge appeared on the iron door, and the entire factory building seemed to be shaking.

Damn it, their Black Scorpion Gang was just a small gang doing small jobs to earn a bit of money, and they hadn't even made much yet, so why were they attracting something like this!?

Who the hell said the person who came was a little girl from a small independent office!?

Bang!

Another loud bang.

The iron door was crumpled into a ball and flung away, and light streamed in from outside. A somewhat slender figure, backlit, made it impossible to discern her face, only a silhouette.

Only a pair of cold, grey eyes stood out glaringly.

"Hurry..." Beside the girl, a man reached out, trembling as he called out, but before he could finish, his head was stomped on and exploded.

The difference between a head and a watermelon at this moment was probably just a bit of green.

Behind her, many more people lay, all having already met a tragic end.

Lin Yilin's gaze quickly swept across the interior of the factory. Just as a van was about to close, she caught a glimpse of golden yellow through the gap.

It was just a fleeting glance, but that perfect little outline said it all.

"Hand over the goods," Lin Yilin said directly.

"Trying to snatch our goods? No way!" Old Sang gritted his teeth, and with a command, the vans successively crashed through the half-open doors and drove onto the street outside.

At the same time, some subordinates who remained behind rushed towards Lin Yilin to delay her.

Lin Yilin pulled out a gun, and a black bead popped from her fingertip into the muzzle.

A faint black aura rose from the pistol, followed by a sudden wriggling at the muzzle, from which a cartoon cat head emerged, letting out a cute "meow."

"Why a cat?" the female shadow on the ground questioned.

"Because cats are cute," Zheng Fan replied calmly.

Then she casually swung the gun and continuously pulled the trigger. Mischievous cat-coated bullets, far exceeding the pistol's supposed ammunition capacity, flew out. Each pull of the trigger did not produce a gunshot, but various "meow" sounds with different vocalizations.

Although cute, the lethality was naturally as it should be, even improved. Some stray bullets hit the wall, easily blasting through the thick masonry.

People constantly dodged and sought cover, but these bullets automatically tracked them.

Until their desperate expressions were swallowed by the successive cat meows.

Before she could rejoice in her sudden, whimsical modification, Zheng Fan didn't forget the main task. After dealing with the people blocking her way, she sprinted forward, running on foot to chase after the departing vans.

On the road, several vans sped away, dispersing. Passersby glanced at them and then habitually looked away.

This was common in the Grey District.

High-speed chases were the norm between gangs and offices.

At least these people were just speeding on the road, not yet escalating to car shootouts and throwing bombs, right?

Whoosh!

Suddenly, passersby caught another glimpse of a figure streaking past them at the speed of a car.

...This, they truly hadn't seen much of.

Old Sang held a gun, leaning out of the car window, looking behind him. After staring for a long time, he didn't see anyone catching up, so he probably had shaken them off.

He sat back in his seat, sighing in relief. As he put his hand down, he suddenly touched something soft.

He looked down and found that the piece of Toast bread had appeared beside his hand at some point.

Huh?

Had he brought this thing with him just now?

Infuriated, he grabbed the piece of Toast and brought it to his mouth, wanting to take a furious bite.

The subordinate driving next to him glanced over, and his eyes immediately widened.

Old Sang opened his mouth, and the piece of Toast in his hand also opened its mouth, much larger than Old Sang's small mouth.

He wanted to warn him, but it was already too late.

Awoo! Crunch!

Blood splattered, Old Sang screamed. Toast biting incident!

The Toast bit directly into Old Sang's neck. Judging by the amount of bleeding, it might have even bitten an artery, which was quite dangerous.

The Toast held on tightly, and Old Sang instinctively struggled, making it impossible for the subordinate driver to drive properly. The car was already fast, and now it was swerving wildly on the road.

Old Sang finally shook off the Toast, but he happened to fling it onto the subordinate driver. The Toast, covered in "strawberry jam," didn't discriminate and took another bite.

"Ah!" The mask of pain spread from Old Sang's face.

Old Sang clutched his profusely bleeding neck, and seeing this, he immediately knew things were bad.

"Drive! Watch the road! It didn't bite your vital spot! Endure it, ahhhhh!" Old Sang shouted anxiously while helping to pull at the Toast.

But for the subordinate driver, it was simply too difficult.

The steering wheel was turned hard, and the speeding vehicle instantly flipped over.

Boom!

Zheng Fan stopped, arriving at the crash site a little later: "Cool~."

Amidst the overturned vehicle and burning flames.

Faint footsteps slowly sounded.

That magnificent figure slowly walked out, illuminated by the firelight. The flames precisely triggered an explosion, accentuating its dashing figure.

That's right.

It was a perfect piece of Toast bread, almost like a superhero.
