Chapter 2: Life Planning
"Are you worried about failing if you start your own business, or are you simply unwilling to accept all of this and shoulder this responsibility?"
John laughed when he heard this. What was there for him to worry about? Others might find this responsibility and pressure terrifying, but he didn't feel any pressure at all. How could he, a person with a cheat, an ultimate cheater with countless information and data, feel pressure? With countless pieces of information as his backing, this bit of responsibility, this bit of pressure, was not worth mentioning!
"Accept? Why wouldn't I accept such a good thing? My life has just begun, with an infinite future. I was able to earn millions before, and with the support of ten million in funds, I can naturally earn even more money. Don't say it's just ten million; even if you give me one hundred million, there's no pressure at all!"
Overbearing. At this moment, John exuded an overbearing aura. Such overbearing words coming from a seventeen-year-old child seemed a bit out of place, but Smith and his wife, as his parents, didn't feel anything was amiss!
The family's financial support was also a test for John. If he didn't even have this much confidence, no matter how smart he was, it would be difficult for him to achieve great success. A brave heart is also the foundation of success, and a brave heart is not something everyone can possess. The same goes for geniuses; how many geniuses have been submerged in the tide of the times because they lacked a brave heart?
"Good, very good. It's great that you have such confidence. Experiencing a few failures when you're young isn't terrible. The most terrifying thing for a person is not having the courage to forge ahead. Confidence is the foundation of everything. If you don't even have confidence in yourself, no matter how smart or how much of a genius you are, it's difficult to achieve success. Tell me, what do you want to do with these ten million funds?" Smith was very pleased; John's answer satisfied him!
"I need to establish my own investment company, and I believe, Father, you will prepare it for me. With my own investment company, I will need a detailed investment plan. Being in San Francisco, I'm never afraid of not having investment targets! However, I hope half of the ten million funds the family gives me will be placed overseas!"
With countless pieces of information in his mind, he didn't need to worry about investment failure, especially since it was still 1981 in the United States, and he had a good family background. It was simply too easy to succeed!
What major economic events would happen next year, in 1982? John recalled as he ate that there would be significant fluctuations in the gold market next year!
"The funds I control are still too little, only 11 million. There are many things I can't do, and it's not even worth mentioning in a financial speculation. Next, I need to accumulate more funds. As a famous writer, what's faster than being a plagiarist?" His own one million in funds was wealth left behind by his predecessor. As a famous writer, he naturally had a considerable income!
After making his decision, he would now dedicate himself to the great cause of plagiarism to earn more funds. There were still several years until the Plaza Accord, giving him ample time to accumulate more funds! The current ten million funds were just his starting capital, his starting capital for the gold market!
As time went on, John gradually integrated into the current era and his new identity. In the process of integration, he inevitably faced a new problem: what should he do next? He was currently a student, a student attending school, and if he wanted to seize the opportunities of the era, his student identity would limit his development!
Should he continue his studies or abandon them and start his entrepreneurial journey? This was a big problem he had to face! Abandoning his studies was not advisable. Although he had countless pieces of information in his mind and knew the future development trajectory, even the most brilliant genius needed to accumulate knowledge, and even more future information required preparation.
It was 1981 in the United States, not an environment he was familiar with. Even if he only did investments, he needed to understand the broader environment more! Right now, he needed to copy those highly promising books with huge potential, lest he miss the opportunity if too much time passed!
Striking first and seizing the initiative. John didn't feel this was anything shameful. If he didn't even have this kind of psychological endurance, what success could he talk about?
Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, Forrest Gump, Jurassic Park, and pirates of the caribbean were all his targets. These books were very time-sensitive, and behind each book were hundreds of millions of dollars!
When he was plagiarizing, he suddenly discovered that he had integrated everything from the original body. His memory became incredibly sharp. All the novels, movies, and TV shows he had watched; the music he had heard, the games he had played, the fashion shows he had seen, and so on—all the information was remembered clearly. The information in his mind was even more powerful than he had originally imagined.
All the information he had seen while surfing the internet was completely preserved in his mind. The emergence of this memory made John overjoyed and excited. This was his golden finger, his strongest backing in future development, and the source of his wealth. Countless pieces of information meant endless opportunities and endless wealth.
The family entrusting ten million dollars to a child like him was also a test. The success or failure of the investment was also part of the test! Although his father didn't say it, he knew very well that there was no gain without effort. Receiving this support from the family fund also meant taking on due responsibility.
Although he didn't agree with the family's education model, feeling that it would make family relationships cold and leave only utilitarianism, he had to admit that under this cruel education method, true elites could indeed be cultivated. Those who could grow up in such a cruel environment were definitely the elites among elites, true powerhouses!

There were still more than three years of preparation time until the Plaza Accord. If he couldn't make a huge fortune in this storm, he would truly be letting himself down for transmigrating. His current identity meant many things he couldn't do. If he didn't get his parents' support, even if the opportunity was right in front of him, it would be difficult to seize.
Next year's gold market was a good choice, the beginning of his accumulation of strength. Having extensive experience in the investment industry, his mind contained the changes in the gold market over the years. It would be too foolish not to seize such a great opportunity!
Participating in this feast was not an easy task, after all, this was not an era he was familiar with. Many things were different from the era he had originally experienced. If he couldn't adapt to this era, even with opportunities in front of him, he wouldn't gain much. Different eras require different methods.
After organizing his thoughts, John made a decision. In addition to preparing funds to participate in the Plaza Accord storm, he also needed to seize the opportunity to invest in high-tech companies, such as Cisco. It would be best to get all those top internet companies into his hands, as the value of the internet in the future would be astonishing.
From an investment perspective, high-tech was an absolute investment direction. Whether it was Symantec, Cisco, Microsoft, or Apple, they were all incredibly profitable, truly super gold mines with low investment and high returns. He shouldn't let go of such opportunities. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough funds in hand right now, and the profit realization time was a bit long, so it wasn't an investment project he had to do now!
While investing and making money were important, self-preservation was even more important, especially living in such a crazy country as the United States. Personal safety was paramount. He not only needed to have enough influence but also his own armed forces. The future United States was extremely free, and in a country with gun freedom, not prioritizing safety was courting disaster.
Gaining influence required controlling media groups. Now was a very good era, the most suitable time for development. The current American Consortiums were in their weakest period of power. At this time, many companies could be targeted and were easy to take over.
Unconsciously, John thought a lot. In the crazy country of the United States, might makes right. Having only influence was not enough. Otherwise, if he faced Old Guys of the Consortiums without enough hard capital, he would be swallowed by them.
Consortiums were never good guys; they were all insidious, cunning, and ruthless. For profit, there was nothing they wouldn't dare to do. Profit above all else was the nature of Those Old Guys, and the nature of capital.
If he didn't have a force in his hands sufficient to protect himself and deter enemies, all his investments would be mere bubbles, all becoming the wealth of others!
