Chapter 10 Tony Stark's Invitation
“You’re getting engaged on the sixth of next month?”
Hearing Jessica Miles’s words, Lynn Hall gently set her down from his lap.
Lightly pressing Jessica’s head to make her kneel before him, Lynn asked curiously, “Is it the son of Andrew Wayne, one of the nine Supreme Court Justices? He doesn’t seem to be from our university’s fraternity, does he?”
“I remember you, senior, used to say you’d choose your husband from someone in our university’s fraternity.”
With Lynn pressing her shoulders, Jessica knelt on the ground, tied her red hair back, and then stammered, “It’s a political marriage.”
“My father—”
“Don’t talk, focus on your work!”
“Hmph!”
Jessica Miles glared at Lynn, then seriously got to work.
Leaning back in his chair, Lynn Hall pondered the upcoming matters.
James Duke, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New York branch, was clearly eyeing the Director position of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
And before he went to the Middle East, he also said that after he returned, he would introduce him to some so-called Brotherhood members.
Clearly, he wanted to draw him into HYDRA!
In fact, Lynn Hall was not resistant to joining HYDRA.
As long as it brought him benefits, then joining HYDRA was fine.
When HYDRA’s doomsday arrived, he could just turn around and sell HYDRA out!
Hmm, looking at the look she gave him before leaving, Lynn Hall understood that everyone had a bright future.
Three days later, at the press conference.
“No suspicious personnel found.”
“Reporters entering the hall are not carrying any weapons!”
Listening to his subordinate’s report through his earpiece, Lynn Hall turned to look at Pepper Potts, who was touching up Tony Stark’s makeup.
He then asked Tony Stark, “Mr. Stark, are you familiar with the press conference speech?”
“Just call me Tony, I think we’re already friends, aren’t we?”
Hearing Lynn Hall call him Mr. Stark, Tony Stark shrugged casually and said, “As for the speech, don’t worry, given that your Federal Bureau of Investigation pulled me out of ‘hell’.”
“This time, I ‘promise’ there will be very little improvisation!”
Saying that, Tony Stark suddenly suggested, “By the way, do you have time after the press conference? Tonight, I’m hosting a grand party themed ‘Return to New York’.”
“Oh, by the way, this time I’ve invited many popular Hollywood actresses, perhaps tonight you can—”
Giving Lynn a knowing look, Tony Stark extended an invitation to Lynn.
“Sorry, Mr. Stark—Tony, I already have plans tonight!”
Well, James Duke had already told him in advance that he would introduce him to some Brotherhood members tonight.
So Lynn Hall could only decline Tony’s invitation.
“Alright, it seems tonight will be my solo fun day again, maybe Rhodes can help me out a bit.”
Lynn Hall smiled, looking at Tony Stark’s unreliable demeanor.
After Lynn left, Pepper asked curiously, “There’s a party tonight? But according to the schedule, you don’t seem to have planned—”
“It doesn’t matter.”
Hearing Pepper’s words, Tony Stark said indifferently, “If Lynn had agreed, I could arrange those actresses with just one phone call.”
“So, this party is specifically for Mr. Lynn Hall?”
Looking at Pepper’s somewhat puzzled eyes, Tony’s face was a bit serious, but he quickly returned to his usual demeanor.
In fact, this party was indeed held for Lynn Hall.
Tony Stark wanted to use Lynn Hall’s identity and abilities to investigate the mastermind behind the Terrorists who attacked and kidnapped him.
No matter what, Tony Stark did not believe that the guys who attacked and kidnapped him found out about his whereabouts through “coincidence.”
Moreover, when did Stark Industries sell weapons to Terrorists in the Middle East?
But looking at Pepper, Tony returned to his usual self: “Never mind, tonight we’ll just rest well, but you should get busy.”
“After all, you’ve been resting for two and a half months!”
Hearing Tony say this, Pepper shook her head, then continued to tidy his clothes.
Upon arriving at the venue, Lynn Hall glanced around, then waved to Shawn.
Once Shawn walked over, Lynn Hall said, “Check a few more times, there are a lot of people at this press conference, not only hundreds of media outlets, but the Director also used his connections to invite many influential people.”
Hearing Lynn’s order, Shawn patted his chest and guaranteed, “Don’t worry, Boss, I’ve already had the brothers check several times.”
“And all key positions are covered by our people, ensuring no accidents will happen!”
“It’s always right to be careful, otherwise, if something goes wrong, I’ll lose face completely!”
“Yes!”
Hearing Lynn’s order, Shawn immediately nodded.
However, seeing a man in a suit with an Federal Bureau of Investigation badge on his chest walk over.
Shawn immediately said, “Boss, the vulture that eats carrion is coming.”
“Go!”
Watching Miller Field approach, Lynn motioned for Shawn to check again.
“Lynn, you’re really lucky.”
Coming up to Lynn Hall, Miller Field said, “The guy that the Military and S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn’t find, you rescued directly with your team.”
“This time, the Director looks very good, he was smiling very happily when he was chatting with the mayor just now.”
“I estimate that after today, your rank will be promoted to D3.”
【Miller Field’s favorability -1】
Watching Miller Field’s outwardly congratulatory, yet inwardly seething expression.
Lynn Hall stared at him with a chuckle and said, “What, not convinced?”
“How could that be? You’re the fastest-promoted and youngest D2 Assistant Agent Supervisor in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who wouldn’t be convinced?”
He was almost forty when he became an Assistant Agent Supervisor at the New York branch, and his eyes had always been on the Supervisor position.
But ever since Lynn Hall appeared, his goal of becoming Supervisor was in jeopardy, as Lynn Hall was not only highly favored by Supervisor Agent Rich Hood.
He was also highly valued by Director James Duke.
This filled him with a sense of crisis.
