Chapter 16: George Stacey: This is always your home

Stacy: This will always be your home.

Friday evening.

Lynn Hall parked the Chevrolet at the place he had lived for eleven years, then got out of the car with a bottle of red wine and gifts.

Lynn Hall glanced at the red Audi R8 parked not far away and nodded in satisfaction.

He had arranged for it to be sent over specially before he came back.

Holding the items, he arrived at the door, and before Lynn Hall could knock, there was a rush of footsteps from inside the house.

As the door opened, the tall and vibrant Gwen immediately rushed over.

"Lynn, you finally decided to come back?"

Lynn Hall looked at Gwen, who had jumped onto him with a bright smile, and chuckled, "This month has been quite busy."

"Hmph, what, without the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. would collapse? I think you're just too lazy to come back!"

Gwen said with a hint of a whine, then sniffed at Lynn Hall like a puppy.

Only after confirming there was no scent of other women did she contentedly take the red wine and gifts from Lynn's hands.

"Do you remember what day tomorrow is?"

Looking at Gwen's expectant expression as she blinked her eyes, Lynn Hall deliberately pretended to think, "Hmm, what day is it? Aunt Helen's birthday has already passed, hasn't it?"

"Lynn Hall!!!"

"Haha."

Lynn Hall reached out and pinched Gwen's puffed-up face, laughing happily.

This made Gwen "angrily" pinch Lynn's arm.

Half an hour later, at the dining table.

"Every time you come home, you buy so many things. We don't lack red wine at home, and I don't lack skincare products or bags. The bags you've bought me over the years are almost enough to cover a whole wall!"

Helen nagged while serving Lynn Hall dinner.

Helen had always treated Lynn like her own son.

George Stacy, on the other hand, chuckled as he tasted the red wine Lynn had brought back, "Is this red wine from Pine Forest Winery in California?"

"Yes."

Hearing Uncle George's question, Lynn Hall smiled, "Director Duke knew I was coming back for a family gathering this weekend, so he specially selected a bottle of red wine, aged for nearly twenty years, from his cellar for me to bring back for you to taste."

"It seems James Duke thinks highly of you, but Lynn, you need to be careful with James Duke. I've interacted with him before, and I always feel that he—"

Before George Stacy could finish, Helen gently tapped the table, interrupting, "It's dinner time, dear. You shouldn't talk about work with him after he's just come home."

"Besides, the child has grown up. You can't use that lecturing tone anymore!"

Looking at his wife's "unfriendly" gaze, George Stacy chuckled, "Alright, my mistake, my mistake. In my heart, Lynn is still that little kid."

"But who would have thought that in the blink of an eye, the little kid who used to pull my arm wanting to play with guns is now twenty-four years old?"

His voice filled with emotion, George Stacy looked at Lynn with affection in his eyes.

The atmosphere at dinner was very harmonious, and even Gwen, who hadn't received a gift, looked very happy.

However, under the table, one of her feet kept stepping on Lynn Hall's foot, seemingly as if in revenge.

After dinner, Lynn Hall smiled and took out a car key from his pocket, placing it in front of Gwen.

"What is this?"

Looking at the car key placed in front of her, Gwen's eyes filled with surprise, "Is this for me?"

In the U.S., you can get a driver's license at sixteen, so Gwen already had one last year.

And Uncle George had already given her a used Ford.

So Lynn wasn't worried that Gwen wouldn't know how to drive.

"What do you think?"

Lynn Hall reached out and pinched Gwen's face, then deliberately looked at his own foot, saying, "If some people's birthday present isn't taken out soon, I'm afraid I'll have to use crutches tomorrow!"

"Hehe..."

She took the car key, looking at the Audi logo on it.

Gwen asked with a surprised expression, "When I just came back, I saw a red Audi R8 parked outside the house, Lynn, that car wouldn't happen to be my birthday present, would it?"

"No, your birthday present is a heavy-duty truck!"

"Hmph!"

After giving Lynn a glare, Gwen excitedly ran out.

She walked around the sleek car once, then excitedly sat inside, lovingly caressing the steering wheel.

"Aren't you going to take it for a spin?"

Lynn Hall smiled and asked, looking at Gwen's excited expression.

Gwen jumped out of the car and immediately threw herself into Lynn's arms.

Then she cupped Lynn's head and kissed him several times before running back into the car, then carefully started the car and drove it into the garage.

"I thought you were going to test drive it!"

Lynn said with a smile when he saw Gwen get out of the car.

"The car's mine anyway, there'll be plenty of chances to test drive it!"

As she spoke, Gwen linked arms with Lynn and returned home.

By the fireplace, Lynn Hall and George Stacy sat facing each other.

Pale blue smoke drifted continuously in the air, and George Stacy asked Lynn, "Have you been promoted again?"

"Currently, I'm a D3. Next year, my direct superior plans to become a consultant, and once the Agent Supervisor position opens up, I'm very likely to take it."

As he spoke, Lynn picked up his wine glass and took a sip, "Uncle George, have you ever thought about going into politics?"

"Me?"

George Stacy picked up the red wine in his glass, took a sip, and chuckled, shaking his head, "Let's not. I've been a Police for most of my life; I don't want to get involved in that dirty quagmire."

"But you, Lynn, you've been different from other children since you were young. When other children were still playful and rebellious, you were always smart and sensible."

"I know you've always been clear about what you truly want, but, my child, such a life will be very tiring!"

"I've always hoped to see you rebellious in your youth, hoped to see you enjoy your life passionately and joyfully like a true young person."

Hearing Uncle George's words, Lynn Hall lit a cigarette for himself.

After a long moment, he said softly, "I really enjoy my current life, Uncle George."

Some things, even family, cannot be told.

Moreover, his current status makes it easier for him to obtain everything he desires.

"As long as you like it!"

George Stacy extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray, then raised his wine glass and clinked it with Lynn's, "My child, I just want you to know that when you're tired one day, the door to home will always be open for you."

"This place will always be your home!"
