Hearing Sorcerer Ancient One say that someone would resolve this matter, Mordo curiously asked, "Teacher, who are you referring to? Is it one of the Mystic Arts Sorcerers?"
"No!"
Looking at Mordo, Ancient One smiled and said, "It's a king who, in order to save his mother's soul, challenges every three years but always fails."
"As for whether he can succeed this time, it depends on whether he can overcome his inner self!"
After speaking, Sorcerer Ancient One looked outside, then slowly stood up and said, "However, some disobedient fellows do need a warning!"
With that, Sorcerer Ancient One opened a magic portal and then disappeared within the magic sanctuary.
As dusk approached, the Sun gradually sank below the horizon.
Inside the black Chevrolet, Gwen's excited voice continuously came from the phone.
"Lynn, do you know? I suddenly found my strength greatly increased after waking up. When I went to the bathroom just now, I accidentally broke off the doorknob!"
"And, and, I found my senses greatly enhanced, even flies in front of me became slow motion!"
"Also, I can even crawl on walls now! Oh my goodness, I can hang upside down on the ceiling!"
Listening to Gwen's excited voice on the phone, Lynn Hall asked with a smile, "Can you shoot webs?"
"Huh?"
Facing Lynn's question, Gwen on the other end of the phone was stunned for a moment.
She raised her hand and tried to shoot webs, but nothing like a web was emitted.
"It seems I can't!"
Shaking her head, Gwen said, "Lynn, do you mean... that the reason I have these abilities isn't because I awakened a Mutant gene, but because I was bitten by a spider?"
In this World with Mutants, whenever an ordinary person suddenly gains superpowers, they subconsciously assume they have awakened a Mutant gene and become a Mutant.
So Gwen subconsciously thought she had become a Mutant.
However, because her father was the Director of the New York Police Department and Lynn was an FBI Agent, Gwen was not as worried as other Mutants.
But now, hearing Lynn say that her abilities might be related to the spider that bit her, Gwen still breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She didn't reject Mutants, but she also didn't want to be discriminated against because she became a Mutant!
"Gwen, for now, just pretend this never happened. Everything will wait until I get back!"
"Also, don't let anyone know about your abilities. When the time is right, Uncle George, Helen, and I will tell them!"
Facing Lynn's persuasion, Gwen immediately agreed.
She knew that Lynn would never harm her.
Watching Dennis drive back outside, bringing dozens of chickens, ducks, and geese, Lynn said a word to Gwen, then hung up the phone and got out of the car.
He had his subordinates attach tracking and filming devices to these chickens, ducks, and geese.
Once the footage from the animals' cameras appeared on the laptop, he had Sean herd them inside.
When the dozens of chickens, ducks, and geese reached the edge of the thick fog enveloping the town, they all flapped their wings, unwilling to enter.
It seemed as if there was something terrifying inside the town, but Sean forcibly herded these animals in.
The moment these chickens, ducks, and geese entered the thick fog, the screen on the laptop abruptly cut off, replaced by a no-signal snowflake pattern.
And immediately, a series of low growls and animal screams came from within the thick fog.
Hearing the terrifying low growls, everyone on site immediately became alert.
Fully armed Federal Agents aimed their submachine guns at the thick fog ahead. If any monster rushed out, they would immediately open fire!
The low growls lasted for a moment, then the small town once again returned to calm.
Only the animals' screams also stopped. Everything was as if nothing had happened!
Closing the laptop, Lynn Hall frowned and looked at the thick fog enveloping the town.
The sky had already gradually darkened. Thinking of what the county police said, there would be many pairs of blood-red eyes in the darkness.
Lynn Hall then waved to Alice.
"Boss, do you need me to take the brothers in to check?"
Coming to Lynn's side, Alice asked, holding her weapon.
"Don't enter the town for now. Wait until tomorrow morning. Also, tell the brothers to be vigilant tonight."
"Once anything rushes out of the town, kill it immediately!"
"Also, keep an eye on the vehicles and signals at all times. If the surrounding signal is blocked, notify me immediately!"
"Yes!"
Hearing Lynn's order, Alice immediately relayed it.
Perhaps it was just her imagination, but Alice always felt as if there was a pair of eyes watching her as the Sun set.
When the Sun completely disappeared, the temporary camp outside the town was brightly lit.
By the bonfire.
Lynn was grilling chicken wings on an iron skewer, while Dennis, sitting opposite him, had his head bowed as if he had done something wrong.
"So, you think that little girl with the ability to cause hallucinations is very pitiful? So you wanted to protect her and not let anyone know her identity?"
Flipping the half-cooked chicken wings, Lynn looked at Dennis and asked.
"Yes, Boss. After she and her companion escaped from the orphanage, they have been hiding around."
"If I hadn't coincidentally met her and her companion, these two girls might still be hiding under a bridge!"
Speaking of this, Dennis looked at Lynn Hall and said, "Boss, I promise these two little girls have never harmed any ordinary person."
"Laura is only 13, and Polaris is only 14. To my knowledge, the most excessive thing they've done is Laura using her hallucinatory ability to trick two hamburgers from passersby."
"You just said Laura's companion is named Polaris?"
Hearing Dennis mention this nickname, Lynn looked at him: "What is Polaris's real name?"
"I don't know!"
Shaking his head at Lynn, Dennis said, "Boss, during the time I've known them, Polaris has always been unwilling to reveal her name."
"Even when I used all my pocket money to rent a house for them, Polaris was unwilling to reveal anything about herself!"
Seeing that his Boss was somewhat interested in the girl nicknamed Polaris, Dennis focused on introducing her: "Laura said that Polaris is someone she met at the same orphanage."
"I don't know Polaris's Mutant ability; I've never seen her use it. But she has a somewhat melancholic personality and gets a bit irritable when she encounters trouble."
"Oh, her most noticeable feature is her dark green hair!"
