Chapter 5: Stark's Plea for Help
Lighting an after-sex cigarette, Lynn Hall slowly exhaled a light blue smoke and asked, “Someone wants to deal with me?”
“That’s right!”
Jessica stood up, took a file from the drawer, handed it to Lynn, and said, “I heard you’ve already taken care of Miller Field, one of the other three Assistant Agent Supervisors.”
“How did you know?”
Hearing Jessica say that, Lynn took the file and asked.
“Didn’t Miller Field secretly report some ‘unfavorable’ evidence about you to the Internal Affairs Department a while ago?”
“Then, a few days ago, he initiative went to the Internal Affairs Department and said that the information he reported was wrong, and it was a misunderstanding, blah, blah, a lot of nonsense.”
“If I didn’t know you had already taken care of him, then I would be a useless Internal Affairs Department Supervisor!”
She raised her head, wanting to kiss Lynn, but he refused.
Jessica playfully slapped him and continued, “After he flipped, I had the Internal Affairs Department keep an eye on him, and it turned out he’s been watching the other two Assistant Agent Supervisors recently.”
“He should be paving the way for you. Alan Maxi is easy to deal with, even though several senators have come from his family.”
“But Kenny Davis is very tricky. After all, his uncle is from the Department of Justice. I heard he’s already preparing to deal with you!”
Getting out of bed, Lynn Hall asked while putting on his clothes, “How did you get such confidential information?”
“Heh, don’t forget who my fiancé’s father is. He’s one of the nine Supreme Court Justices.”
“He has a good relationship with the one in the Department of Justice. My fiancé heard a snippet when he attended a dinner with his father.”
Jessica stood up and helped Lynn Hall straighten his clothes, smiling, “My fiancé doesn’t know what our relationship is like. He still thinks we don’t get along!”
“But seriously, you really need to get serious, Lynn. The Federal Bureau of Investigation seems to have a lot of power, but politics is always dirty!”
Once again refusing Jessica who leaned in to kiss him, Lynn said, “Woman, you’re too greedy!”
“You bastard!”
Jessica rolled her eyes at Lynn, who became very firm after pulling up his pants, and said, “This information I got through my dad’s side. It’s all about Kenny Davis and those who have a grudge against his family.”
“So, junior, how are you going to deal with him?”
Putting on his jacket, Lynn walked out and said, “Just like feeding you a Baby’s Gripe Water beforehand, I like to eliminate unstable factors before they erupt!”
After speaking, Lynn left the room directly.
Before the engagement ceremony dinner began, James Duke brought Lynn to a Brotherhood gathering sponsored by HYDRA.
It could be said that the members attending this Brotherhood gathering included not only dignitaries and social celebrities but also elites from all walks of life, including clothing, food, housing, and transportation.
Listening to their conversations, a casual decision could affect the livelihoods of thousands of people.
Lynn finally realized what true power was.
He had thought Duke would reveal his fangs through this gathering, “forcing” him to join HYDRA.
Lynn had even prepared how to express his “shocked” emotions.
But until the end of the gathering, Duke did not show his attitude.
He just patted Lynn’s shoulder before leaving, smiling and telling him to pay attention to the stock of a newly established group.
Obviously, HYDRA was going to send him money again to corrupt him.
After the Brotherhood gathering ended, the engagement dinner officially began.
Sitting next to James Duke, Lynn watched Jessica, dressed in an evening gown, holding her fiancé’s arm.
In his mind, he imagined her in a wedding dress.
Tsk... During the day today, she refused to wear the wedding dress no matter what, insisting that she would only “invite” him when she got married.
“Lynn, I’ve always been curious, you and Jessica graduated from the same university, how did your relationship become so strained?”
Looking at Lynn, James Duke asked with a chuckle.
“Director, you know me, I always like to be kind to people.”
Facing Duke’s inquiry, Lynn Hall smiled and said, “It’s just that when I was in college, I had a significant conflict with Jessica’s boyfriend.”
“I was young back then, so I used some methods to get Jessica’s boyfriend ‘expelled’.”
“I only found out later that guy was Jessica’s first love.”
The truth of the matter was not important; at least James Duke was still chuckling after hearing Lynn’s answer.
“No wonder Jessica always found you an eyesore and caused you trouble everywhere. But Lynn, it’s not good for you to have such a strained relationship with the Internal Affairs Department.”
“Moreover, her father is also the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
At this point, James Duke looked at Lynn and said, “How about this, I’ll find an opportunity to help you mediate, which will also help your future promotion!”
“Thank you, Director!”
Looking at Duke’s “supportive” demeanor, Lynn Hall sincerely thanked him.
While talking with Duke, Lynn Hall’s phone suddenly vibrated.
He picked up the phone and saw that it was Tony Stark calling.
He stood up, walked to the side, and answered the phone, only to hear Tony Stark say urgently, “Lynn, I need your help here. FUXX, Pepper has been kidnapped by that bastard Obadiah Stane.”
“I’ve also been threatened by him, and he’s taken the Arc Reactor. I hope you can help me rescue Pepper, please!”
Listening to Tony’s anxious tone, Lynn nodded, “No problem!”
Hanging up the phone, Lynn returned to Duke, said a word, and then left with Barbara, Laura, and Lorna.
Leaving the dinner, Lynn had Barbara activate her ability to send them to Stark Industries!
As the portal opened, the four of them arrived directly beneath Stark Industries.
At this moment, Tony Stark had not yet arrived, and Obadiah Stane was showing off in the Iron Monger armor.
Seeing this scene, Lynn turned to Polaris and asked, “Lorna, can you control him?”
Facing Lynn’s question, Polaris nodded slightly.
Taking a step forward, Lorna extended her hand, and green energy was released from her palm. The next second, the Iron Monger flying in the air was instantly dragged to the ground by an invisible force!
Controlled by Polaris’s ability, Obadiah Stane tried to control the armor no matter what, but the armor remained motionless on the ground.
Lynn Hall walked forward and had Lorna open the Iron Monger’s faceplate, then asked Obadiah Stane, “Where is Pepper?”
Looking at Lynn, who had suddenly appeared, the struggling Obadiah Stane’s eyes were filled with anger: “Damn it, what did you do to me?!”
