Chapter 4: Fresh Nourishment
All the things to buy had been bought.
Xue Landi pushed the shopping cart all the way to the checkout counter.
From there, he could see Karl and Robert behind the supermarket's glass doors, along with a pompadour-haired boy in a baseball uniform.
The three of them were gesturing wildly, waiting at the entrance.
Especially Robert, upon realizing that Xue Landi hadn't bought any snacks among the items he was checking out, his already dark face turned even darker. He even made a gun gesture at his own head, a very strong threat.
Xue Landi was very puzzled. Had this kid already realized his death was imminent?
After checking out expressionlessly, Xue Landi put all the items into his backpack and then calmly walked out of the supermarket.
As soon as he stepped out, the three waiting surrounded him.
The pompadour-haired boy laughed, egging them on.
"Robert, it seems Landi didn't take your words to heart. I don't think such a small bag of his can hold many snacks."
"Shut up, Billy, I don't need You to tell me."
Robert gritted his teeth and leaned in front of Xue Landi: "You bastard, where are the things I told You to bring?"
As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves, looking ready to fight.
It was Karl who reached out and stopped Robert's movement: "Robert, don't do it here, there are a lot of people in the supermarket."
Robert's nostrils flared wide: "Damn it, I'm going to punch his eyeballs out later!"
"No rush."
Billy grinned and put his arm around Xue Landi's neck.
"Let's go, Landi. Luckily, Karl spoke up for You, otherwise You would have really embarrassed yourself at the supermarket entrance. I think Robert needs an explanation from You, or You'll still get a beating."
Then he forcefully pulled Xue Landi towards the alley next to the supermarket, where a modified car was parked.
Xue Landi offered no resistance.
He took the opportunity to remember the names of these three people.
Karl, Robert, Billy.
After careful recollection, he realized that these three were only a part of those who bullied the original owner.
The original owner truly had enemies throughout the entire school. He was bullied to such an extent, why didn't he quickly buy an AK and play CS at school?
In the alley, it was dark and there was a damp, foul smell. No one would pass through here.
Karl and the two others became even more arrogant.
"Landi, have You thought of an explanation?"
Karl grinned and waved his hand.
Billy and Robert immediately went to the car, opened the doors, one holding a stun gun and the other putting on brass knuckles.
Then they surrounded Xue Landi in the middle.
Xue Landi stepped back.
He didn't choose to act now.
This was the Town, and it wasn't too late yet. Even if a conflict broke out, it would at most be a minor scuffle; they wouldn't try to kill him.
And young people have strong desires for revenge. Xue Landi didn't think a few punches would subdue them, and they would definitely keep bothering him afterward.
What's more, with his weak body, he couldn't deal with three people without resorting to lethal force.
The Supervisor had seen the conflict in the supermarket earlier. If blood was shed and the police got involved, it would be a shame if he couldn't continue to focus on Lotus's development.
Xue Landi had a better solution.
So he held out his hand in a gesture of weakness.
"Calm down, it's not that I didn't want to buy them, I just don't have any extra money on me."
Karl's expression became very serious: "You think I'll believe You?"
The other two also cooperated by showing fierce expressions.
"You can come home with me. I have money at home, I can give You the money from my house."
"Hmm?"
Karl and the two others exchanged glances.
They had deliberately caused trouble just for fun, but they didn't expect to get some money out of it?
Billy immediately said: "You want your parents to come forward? Oh, no, I forgot Landi is an orphan now."
He burst into laughter when he said this.
Robert's eyes also lit up.
"Cool, so Landi's home is just him alone?"
Isn't this a natural entertainment venue? They can do whatever they want there later.
This group of people wouldn't have any sympathy, not even Robert, who had never seen his father since birth, would empathize.
But Karl was still worried if there was a trick: "Are You trying to pull some kind of stunt? Are You thinking of calling the police on us later?"
He also took a switchblade from his waist, flicked out the blade, and brought it close to Xue Landi's neck.
With just a light touch, Xue Landi felt a stinging sensation, estimating that his neck had already been cut.
He also wondered if it didn't bother this guy to have the switchblade tucked into his waistband? Wasn't he afraid of accidentally touching the blade and having it pop out and stab him?
"Of course, I won't play any tricks. I can give You 950 dollars then. Even if it's defined as robbery, I won't be sentenced or punished. My purpose in doing this is just to hope that You won't bully me anymore, and of course, if someone else bullies me, I also hope You can help me."
"This..."
Billy and Robert were confused by this excuse. How did it suddenly become a transaction? The two turned to look at their leader, Karl.
"Of course, Landi, You need to know that we are all minors, and prison threats don't work on us."
Karl felt this was very consistent with the style of Chinese people.
Think about other races protesting, they express their demands to fight for their rights, or they show the unity and strength of their nation to let others know they are not to be messed with.
In contrast, Chinese protests always hold up signs saying: I am very fragile, don't attack me.
Everyone loves such a soft target.
And being able to produce 950 dollars, this indicates that this guy's family probably has a lot of money saved up. They can just rob it all then, anyway, there's no one else in his house, even if they kill him, no one will find out!
No, that wouldn't work either. He should consider a long-term approach.
Given Xue Landi's family situation, he should be able to receive government subsidies, which would be a stable income every month. This was simply an endless treasure trove.
"Of course, we can give You protection, but on the condition that You give each of us 950 dollars every month as payment!"
Xue Landi put on a difficult expression, but still nodded.
"Also, You can't tell anyone about this, and You can't call the police, otherwise we will definitely kill You, then dismember You and eat You!"
"I absolutely won't do that!"
Xue Landi quickly responded, thinking how these guys were even more evil cultivators than himself. In his previous life, he had heard that Old White Man had a historical tradition of cannibalism, and he didn't expect them to have this idea so young.
The unexpected windfall made Karl and the two others especially delighted.
Karl immediately showed goodwill and criticized his two brothers: "From today on, we can't bully Landi anymore. Billy, Robert, quickly put away your stuff!"
"OK."
"No problem."
"Landi, get in the car now and tell us the direction of your house. We'll go to your house tonight and have a party."
"We also have some stolen beer in the car."
"Mm-hmm, that would be great."
Xue Landi pretended to be delighted, first looking at the surrounding situation. No one around was paying attention to them, and the supermarket's surveillance cameras couldn't capture the direction of the car.
As for his bicycle, he would find time to come back and ride it tomorrow.
"Landi, You're the main character tonight, You sit in the middle seat."
Billy stepped forward and put his arm around Xue Landi, preparing to push him into the car.
But Xue Landi wouldn't agree. There was a camera when they left the Town, and sitting in the middle would mean being clearly filmed.
"Sorry, I get carsick, I can't sit in the front passenger seat, and in the back seat, I must be by the window, otherwise I'll throw up."
Billy's face immediately changed, turning extremely pale.
"You have no right to choose. Even if I tell You to lie under the car, You can't refuse!"
He suddenly realized that Xue Landi hadn't shown any fear from beginning to end, and his tone when speaking to him was unusually unquestionable. This was completely different from before, giving him a feeling of losing control.
