Chapter 4: Lu Shiyan

Su Wan returned to her room.

Lin Zhong and Zhang Ma, those two greedy and timid wretches, were not a threat for now.

A good scolding would keep them honest for a while.

As for trust? Heh.

Right now, the real death warrant was the man the original owner had imprisoned and tortured—the novel's male lead, Lu Shiyan!

The future powerhouse, a master of all abilities, was currently in that sunless cell next to the storage room.

On one side were servants who could backstab her at any moment; on the other, a future bigshot who harbored immense hatred for her.

This was a hellish start!

Su Wan opened the door and coldly instructed the two remaining maids and one gardener downstairs: "Guard the first floor; no one is allowed to move!"

The three of them shivered in fright and hastily agreed.

Su Wan no longer looked at them and headed directly for a secluded passage leading to the basement.

The corridor was dim, the wall lamps cast a faint yellow glow, and a faint smell of blood lingered.

Her high heels clicked "tap, tap, tap" on the floor tiles, each sound striking her heart.

The original owner's last "visit" to Lu Shiyan was yesterday, and she had even brought a whip.

What state was he in now?

Su Wan's hand went into her pocket, feeling the cold military dagger.

She had to go! She couldn't delay!

According to the original plot, Lu Shiyan would awaken his lightning ability tonight, and then the original owner, Su Wan, would die! And not very gracefully!

Su Wan's steps halted, her heart stopping.

It was afternoon now, only a few hours until nightfall! Her death date was counting down by the minute!

She had to change the situation before he awakened! At the very least, she couldn't be as foolish as the original owner, rushing in to deliver herself when he was brewing a big move!

That wasn't seeking death; that was rushing to reincarnate!

Finally, a heavy, grim metal door blocked her way.

It was sturdier than the storage room door, with only an observation window covered by a metal flap, and the keyhole was below the doorknob.

The key! The original owner had hidden it in a secret compartment in the bedroom dresser!

She had forgotten to bring it!

Inside the door, an extremely faint dragging sound of metal chains suddenly echoed.

He was awake? And could move?!

Su Wan instantly tensed, pressing her back tightly against the cold wall, holding her breath to listen carefully.

The movement inside ceased again; was it a hallucination?

She immediately turned and rushed back to the bedroom, heading straight for the dresser.

In the secret compartment, the brass key felt cold and heavy in her hand.

That was it!

Back at the metal door, the scent of blood in the air was even stronger.

Su Wan didn't immediately insert the key.

Instead, she leaned closer to the observation window and very slowly pushed open the metal flap a tiny crack with her fingertip.

Light seeped in, and a foul stench assaulted her! A strong metallic smell mixed with the sourness of sweat, making her want to vomit.

The cell was cramped and crude, with rough concrete walls and floor.

In a corner sat a filthy bucket.

In the center of the floor, a figure was curled up.

He had his back to the door, his tattered shirt soaked with dark red blood, and his black pants were stained and torn.

His hands were heavily chained, the other end embedded in the wall.

Seemingly sensing a slight sound outside the door, the person's body trembled slightly, and he slowly turned his head.

The dim light outlined his profile.

An extremely handsome face, with deep-set features, even covered in blood and scars, could not hide its piercing sharpness.

But, those eyes…

When his gaze pierced through his messy black hair and precisely caught the peeking through the crack, Su Wan's blood instantly froze!

What kind of eyes were those?

Cold! Lifeless!

There was no hint of humanity, only mad hatred that could burn everything to ashes and violent killing intent!

With one look, Su Wan was certain that once he broke free, the first person he would tear apart would absolutely be her!

Kill him! This thought surged wildly!

As long as he died, she would be safe! The villa would be safe, waiting for Su Father to pick her up…

As the thought arose—her neck suddenly tightened, as if an invisible hand had clamped down on it!

A suffocating sensation instantly swept through her entire body!

What the hell?! She couldn't kill the Son of Fortune?!

Cold sweat instantly drenched her back, she leaned desperately against the cold metal door, gasping for air, her knuckles white as she gripped the key.

What in the world had the original owner done?!
