Chapter 1: Awakening Recharge System

In the Charlemagne Kingdom of the West Continent, within the Earl's Fort of Sword Oath City of the Northern Territory.

Martin lay alone on a lounge chair on the balcony, his eyes vacant, staring blankly at the Sky.

Just today, he had awakened memories of his past life without warning, and before he could fully recover.

The memories and emotions of his former self surged into his mind like a turbulent tide, without explanation.

Those unfamiliar yet seemingly familiar past events, and the intricately interwoven emotions, left his head feeling heavy and muddled.

At this moment, he was filled with confusion: Was he Martin, or the youth from his previous life?

“Ding, the Recharge System is online. The Host can use gold coins to upgrade creatures who have sworn allegiance to him and whose loyalty has reached sixty. After upgrading, the creature's loyalty will become fanatical.”

Martin subconsciously rubbed his chin, an uncontrollable smirk appearing on his face, his eyes gleaming with suppressed excitement, and he mused inwardly, “I actually awakened a system directly. Could it be that I am the fabled Son of Destiny?”

“System, open panel.”

“Ding, Host: Martin White, fifth son of the Earl, Oath-bound Guards: None, Level: None.” Martin was speechless at this panel, which was so concise it was almost shabby.

He stood up and paced to the edge of the balcony, looking down at the maids and guards coming and going below.

“Julie, Loyalty thirty.”

“Mary, Loyalty nineteen.”

“Tansy, Loyalty twenty-five.”

“Robert, Loyalty thirty-four…”

Looking at these figures, not a single person's loyalty exceeded fifty.

It seemed he needed to find some suitable candidates for the contract as soon as possible to test the system's miraculous effects.

In the evening, the banquet arrived as scheduled. His three older brothers and one older sister took their seats in turn, waiting with Martin for the Earl White and the ladies to join them for dinner.

A tall, imposing figure slowly appeared at the doorway, followed by four ladies. It was Earl White, a man of Legendary stature.

He had risen from a common soldier to his current position as a Golden Knight and was also the Legion Commander of the Tenth Legion stationed at the border.

It could be said that within the Charlemagne Kingdom, only Earl White had managed to climb from a commoner to a noble, and even to the rank of Earl.

The other ladies were all the result of marital alliances with Earls and Viscounts, including Martin's mother, Lady Ally.

“Alright, take your seats, prepare to dine.” Earl White said in a calm tone. Everyone took their seats, and the clinking of knives, forks, and plates filled the air.

After dining for a moment, Martin pondered briefly, then gathered his courage and said to Earl White, “Father, I wish to select ten Knight Attendants from the military camp.”

Upon hearing this, Earl White did not immediately respond. At this moment, his second elder sister, Beline White, looked up, her gaze falling on Martin.

“Martin, what do you need attendants for? You usually have the castle's guard escort you when you go out, and if you leave the city, the military camp will send a small squad to escort you.”

His second elder sister, Beline, looked at Martin with a puzzled expression and asked. The other siblings said nothing, merely glanced at Martin, then continued to eat the food on their plates.

Earl White finished a piece of monster meat, elegantly wiped his mouth, and then said to Martin, “You can go to the Vali Knights to select those ten attendants; they've just returned from rotation for rest.”

“However, once you complete your sixteenth birthday coming-of-age ceremony and depart for your fiefdom, the family will no longer provide you with additional Knights.”

Martin nodded, understanding that this was a fair exchange.

After all, the Knight Order members trained by the family were all veteran soldiers who had seen much combat. Although they had not yet reached Knight strength, he had the Recharge System. Even if they didn't cultivate, as long as there were enough gold coins, he could even pile them up to become Sky Knights.

Lady Ally couldn't help but sigh. Although she didn't know Martin's intentions for these Knight Attendants, she didn't want her son to get involved in anything adventurous.

The dining time quickly ended amidst the clinking of knives and forks. His eldest son, Kaelen White, found Martin and told him to come with him to select guards. Earl White, after finishing his meal, left directly.
