Chapter 30: arrive

In the early morning, Wang Yu woke up from his bed.

He habitually opened his Commander panel.

The Commander panel would settle experience points daily at midnight based on the Commander's actions from the previous day.

According to what he learned from the Commander upgrade guide posts on the forum, for a Commander, the fastest way to gain experience is to sortie frequently.

As long as he sinks enough enemies in battle, he will naturally gain enough experience and other spoils of war.

In other situations, a Commander would gain some experience as long as he took action, more or less.

For example, when he was at Headquarters previously, checking his personal module's information would show prompts like 'Commander participated in physical training, logged into the Commander System, participated in communication between Commanders, cultivated affection with Ship Girls', etc., gaining 3 experience points.

And during his time sailing at sea, it would basically always prompt 'Commander participated in coastal navigation, logged into the Commander System, participated in communication between Commanders, cultivated affection with Ship Girls', etc., gaining 4 experience points.

The experience points gained daily varied; on the day he salvaged York, he gained over ten experience points at most, while other times it was mostly around 4 points.

It had been two weeks since he obtained the Commander System, and from the experience progress, his upgrade should be within these one or two days.

Sure enough, he saw a message prompting that his level had increased to LV2, felt the changes in his body, and checked other Commander module panels.

As expected, there were no changes whatsoever...

For a Commander, the greatest benefit of an experience increase is the one skill point gained every ten levels.

If he wanted to see the benefits of upgrading, he would probably have to wait until level ten.

Looking at the experience progress bar, which had reset to zero, Wang Yu felt the difficulty of Commander upgrades.

When his port district had more personnel in the future, he could arrange a special fleet to go out to sea specifically for leveling up, no, for clearing the sea area and maintaining its safety.

He had been coveting several skills in the Commander panel for a long time. Unfortunately, this wasn't some cheat system; it couldn't be maxed out with a single click after all.

After lying in bed and browsing the Commander forum for about half an hour, Wang Yu finally prepared to get up.

As usual, there was no particularly important news on the forum. The forum's post deletion speed was very fast, or rather, its search function was very poor. If one didn't spend Wisdom Cubes to fix the post's time, posts would be forcibly deleted by the system after a certain period.

So those sticky strategy posts were truly posted by big shots, at least big shots who weren't short on Wisdom Cubes.

He currently didn't have permission to post on the forum; he could only read new posts and some strategy guides every day.

In fact, he wanted to find some posts about the war situation to understand the battlefield, but basically, no one posted such threads. Most of them were strategy guides given by big shots and various other posts of unclear meaning.

However, Wang Yu could roughly understand what was going on. This Commander System was probably shared by all Commanders, which, of course, included Commanders from other factions.

If this was the case, although it was a very convenient platform for Commanders to communicate with each other, it was also easy to leak intelligence and be manipulated.

So it was perfectly normal for Commanders to avoid sensitive content when posting. After a wash and tidy-up, Wang Yu prepared to go to breakfast with Glorious and York.

These past few days, the sea area remained calm, with no incidents of Siren attacking logistics supply fleets. After all, it was within Azure Lane's coastal range, and it wasn't easy for the Siren to penetrate Azure Lane's hinterland through the sea areas guarded by various port districts.

Each port district had its own defense range, and the size of the defended area varied depending on the port district's level.

Besides this, there were also wartime sea bases established by various Headquarters.

These collectively formed Azure Lane's defensive measures at sea.

By relying on various port districts and sea bases to establish signal devices, a truly coastal shipping lane was created. The support ship he was currently on was for providing supplies to these bases and port districts.

Wang Yu had seen the supply fleet arrive at a location these past few days, unload a batch of supplies, and sometimes take away some supplies, also serving as a material transfer point.

By today, the sea voyage was almost a week long. If nothing unexpected happened, he should reach his port district today.

After eating, Wang Yu, Glorious, and York once again came to the deck. After the ship had sailed for some time, a brand new continent appeared before his eyes.

Just as Wang Yu thought this land was his destination, the entire fleet continued to sail forward. The supply fleet sailed around this continent for only about 10 minutes, and a brand new small island appeared before his eyes.

The island was lush with trees, full of vitality, with no traces of artificial structures.

Several Ship Girls walking on the sea suddenly appeared in front of the fleet, guiding the fleet towards the port district's harbor on the island.

These should be the garrison troops used by Naval Headquarters to guard the port district. Soon, the supply ship Wang Yu was on detached from the main fleet and slowly entered the port district through an artificially excavated waterway. The supply ship stopped at the dock port, officially completing its docking.

The gangway slowly lowered. On the supply ship, the accompanying Ship Girls came to the deck to inform Wang Yu to prepare to disembark. The fleet broadcast also announced the arrival at port.

Wang Yu's gaze fell on the dozen or so figures waiting at the port, and the faintly visible port district buildings further away.

Wang Yu took a deep breath. After sailing for so long, he had finally arrived at his port district.

Next, after officially taking over this port district from the Headquarters fleet, he would truly be considered an official port district Commander, and his biggest goal would be accomplished.

“The Commander has arrived, let's go down.”

Glorious's voice sounded in his ear at the right moment.

“Okay.”

Wang Yu took a deep breath, then reached out and vigorously rubbed York's head. After York reluctantly pushed his hand away, Wang Yu then walked straight down the gangway.

Glorious and York followed closely behind him. The group was lightly equipped, having departed with little luggage. Some important items were stored in Glorious's rigging. With few items, the rigging could barely be used as half a spatial ring, being both convenient and secure from loss.

Everything was ready.

So, port district, here I come!
