Chapter 51: Don't listen

The gentle moonlight poured into the room.

Gascogne sat quietly on the bed.

There was no need for rest at all, she told her Master.

With multiple modes running simultaneously within her, daily consumption was minimized, and she could complete physical maintenance in the background.

None of this was necessary; Gascogne didn't need to rest at all!

But it was useless.

Obey all of her Master's commands!

This most basic directive was written into her lowest-level protocols.

Ultimately, she was just a weapon created for war, and a weapon had no need to resist its Master.

She couldn't, and she didn't want to!

So she stopped her night duty at the Command Center and patrolling the port, returning to the resting room that had been prepared for her.

The room had been personally arranged by her Master; everything was simple, so basic that it didn't look like a maiden's boudoir at all.

Yet she loved it very much; closing her eyes, the entire room was filled with traces of her Master's presence.

The room was only separated from her Master's resting room by a single corridor.

Even when she was only in her most basic operational state, even without activating her radar detection device, she could still visualize the scene in her Master's room, after all, she possessed the most perfect combat performance, praised by her Master!

Even if she sat there motionlessly every night, it was enough to quietly guard her Master like this.

She would stare at the blank wall every night.

Listening to her Master's breathing become even, that was when her Master began to rest.

Only when her Master's breathing rhythm changed in the morning would her Master wake up again.

The awakened Master would not get up immediately; her Master was accustomed to staying in bed for a while after waking up before getting up to wash.

These details had already been re-recorded into her information database; now she could accurately predict her Master's waking time.

She would quietly wait at her Master's door.

"Good morning, Master. Gascogne is at your service!"

That would be a brand new, beautiful beginning.

Gascogne would not cause her Master any trouble.

When her Master needed to work quietly, Gascogne could even stop breathing.

Gascogne was willing to dedicate everything she had to her Master!

If nothing unexpected happened, her Master would soon begin to rest.

It would only take a few minutes for her Master to officially fall asleep.

But at this moment, something unexpected happened...

Tonight seemed a little different.

It was so late, what could Glorious want with her Master?

Had something happened in the port? Was it serious enough to disturb her Master's rest?

Gascogne hesitated for a moment but still gave up the idea of stopping Glorious.

Big Sister Glorious was her Master's Secretary Ship, just like her.

If she had to disturb her Master's rest, it must be something important to report!

Why did Big Sister Glorious just go in? How did she have the key to her Master's room?

Hmm, what is this?

Gascogne's face instantly flushed crimson; this was an unexpected development for her.

She could hear her Master's even breathing become rapid, blood flowing faster, and even her heart rate becoming intense!

It was as if it would leap out of her chest; her heartbeat became wild, no longer the pleasant sound it once was.

Why did Big Sister Glorious become like this?

And Master, what is he saying?

Why did it turn out like this?

Eat, ate Big Sister Glorious? Wh-why eat Big Sister Glorious?

Her overly excellent physical functions clearly and precisely fed all the information from the room back to Gascogne.

Even if she didn't deliberately try to listen, everything that happened was still clearly recorded in her brain.

Her Master spoke, "Quiet, don't let Gascogne hear?"

Should she not hear? She subconsciously retracted her external sensors to the minimum; her Master's command must be obeyed!

But, it was no use!

Her excellent physical functions had always been her greatest pride; using different behavioral modules in different combat or work environments allowed her to handle various situations almost perfectly.

But now, Gascogne only felt that her physical functions were far from enough, at least the lower limit wasn't enough!

She felt as if her whole body was about to catch fire!

The cooling system's power was already at maximum but yielded no response, making her wonder if her own cooling system had malfunctioned. After repeated self-checks, she confirmed the cooling system was operating normally, but her entire body was nearing overload!

How could this be?

This wasn't a life-and-death battle, and she hadn't even activated her rigging; how could she be overloaded?

Every part of her body felt like it was operating under super-heavy load, continuously generating heat. Her normally abundant computational power felt as if it had been drained in an instant; the information processor in her built-in modules was completely unable to process the results brought by this seemingly tiny data.

She felt that her Master and Big Sister Glorious were already tightly embracing each other.

What was her Master's hand touching?

Ah, no, not well-behaved!

Big Sister Glorious's suppressed voice came to her ears, sounding, a little comfortable?

Ve-very comfortable?

She was about to lose the ability to think.

In her mind, only the detected images and those faint sounds remained...

She couldn't help but wonder if it was truly necessary to keep her body functioning normally at all times.

Recalling her Master's earlier command for her to get a good night's rest, she couldn't help but fall into deep doubt.

Was her Master's advice correct? Did she indeed need to shut down some of her modules at certain necessary times?

Gascogne sat on the bed, restless.

Her fingers unconsciously clutched the quilt, and at some point, sweat had already beaded in her palms.

She couldn't help but want to remove the gauntlets she always wore.

Her Master and Big Sister Glorious's movements became more intense, and they kept saying these words that set one on fire.

Why had these words never been said to Gascogne?

Clearly, what she should be doing now is shutting down all her functions and entering standby mode.

That should fulfill her Master's command not to listen, right?

But she didn't understand why she hadn't done so.

This was to analyze her Master's behavior patterns to fill the database; it was just normal information gathering.

She couldn't even distinguish what kind of mindset she had when she continued to listen.

That seemed to be a peculiar emotion.

Sweet and sour, uneasy, as if she wanted to do something, and the next second she would act on it!

She searched her entire database but found no corresponding emotion.

She listened as the sounds changed from low to high-pitched, and the movements from frantic to calm.

She watched over the two as they fell asleep.

It was an ordinary night.

She was awake again, watching over her Master for the entire night.

Only, unlike before, she did not appear at her Master's door in the morning.
