Chapter 91: go home

“You’re back.”

Watching the projection on the sea radar, the battleship representing Glorious was heading straight towards the port, and a heartwarming smile appeared on her face.

She came back many days earlier than planned. Hmm, it seems the Commander still cares a lot about the port and her…

“Miss Glorious, TB detected… the Commander is returning to the port. Do you need to send a fleet to guide his route…?”

TB’s soft voice came from beside her. Glorious turned her head and saw the white-dressed girl, barefoot, floating quietly in mid-air.

Although TB appeared to have no other movements, Glorious knew that she had the authority to control the entire sea detection system. The movements of the entire sea were, in fact, completely within her grasp.

Strictly speaking, TB’s monitoring authority in this Command Center was even higher than her own, only slightly lower than the Commander’s. However, the Commander had already given instructions, and her high authority was only for monitoring the sea detection system.

She just didn’t know why the Commander was so wary of her, repeatedly cautioning her but never explaining why.

The Commander must have his own considerations, Glorious silently dismissed the thought.

“No need,” Glorious gently shook her head, “I’ve already dispatched patrol carrier-based aircraft to meet the Commander.”

“Confirming order, continuing daily sea detection tasks…”

The Command Center returned to silence, only the occasional beeping and the sound of instruments operating.

Suddenly, Glorious spoke again: “Oh, and remind Gascogne that the Commander is back.”

“Received, confirming order, transmitting intelligence task to Gascogne, executing immediately…”

Wang Yu arrived at the port with the light of the rising sun.

Everything in the port seemed no different from when he had just left.

Stepping onto the familiar land, Wang Yu’s heart settled considerably. Although staying at the garrison fleet’s base was comfortable, it wasn’t his own port; it lacked that feeling of home.

And as soon as he stepped onto the port's land, even without entering the familiar Commander’s activity area, just entering the port's boundaries felt as warm as coming home.

Moreover, after leaving and returning, he keenly noticed that the port was different from other places. He vaguely felt that something in the air was resonating with him. He hadn't noticed it when he was in the port before, but upon returning, he clearly felt the difference.

Are these the mental particles filling the air? Do they increase in activity as the port grows stronger? He quickly dismissed these thoughts.

“Ah, you’re back!” York happily shouted, leaping high from the ship’s deck, skillfully spinning three and a half times in the air, landing perfectly on the dock, and then running off without looking back.

“Commander, I’m going to see Sister Glorious first.” Wang Yu shook his head helplessly. Little York was still at a very fickle age. She had been a little disappointed when he said he was coming back, but now that she was back at the port, she couldn’t wait to go and be with her Sister Glorious.

Or is it that all women are like this, and Ship Girlss are no exception?

The carrier-based aircraft hovering above seemed to have completed its guiding mission, circling and flying away again to continue its work of patrolling the sea.

Amagi looked up at the carrier-based aircraft as it flew away in the breeze: “Glorious’s popularity is as good as ever.”

Wang Yu turned his head in confusion, and Amagi covered her mouth, chuckling softly: “Glorious is beautiful and has a good temper. Plus, the Commander has always liked her so much. In the port, I’ve never heard of anyone having a problem with Glorious. What’s more, many, many weaker Ship Girlss grew up at sea under her leadership, and everyone loves Glorious very much.”

Amagi explained: “With this relationship, even if the juniors who later joined the port become increasingly powerful, with an attitude of not stopping until they’ve surpassed their seniors, throughout the entire port, no matter who sees Glorious, a ‘senior’ is still a must.”

Wang Yu didn’t have any particular feelings about this. In his opinion, his port should be very harmonious. He gestured to the Manjuu to sort the cargo on the ship and transport it to different warehouses and locations.

After doing all this, he and Amagi walked down the massive battleship. The battleship transformed into specks of light, returning into Amagi’s body.

Amagi stretched, a movement that outlined an incredibly perfect curve.

After a glance, Wang Yu calmly looked away. He had seen these things a lot these days, and they couldn't shake his firm resolve. He just occasionally glanced at them; his heart was completely unmoved.

“It’s nice to get out for a bit occasionally, but it’s a bit of a waste of resources.” Amagi elegantly closed her red umbrella.

“It’s just a little bit of resources, it doesn’t actually consume much. If you like, you can go out whenever you want,” Wang Yu said. He wasn’t that unreasonable; could he possibly refuse such a small request from a Ship Girls?

“No, thank you,” Amagi coughed lightly, “Speaking of which, didn’t you used to complain about battleships having high oil consumption, Master?”

“No matter how high, didn’t I still send you all out at full strength?” Wang Yu replied as he walked, “I probably won’t be deploying as frequently in the future, so resources are sufficient.”

“Master, not saving up for a wife anymore?”

Wang Yu guiltily looked up at the sky, not seeing the familiar carrier-based aircraft: “Just kidding, that’s not true. We can’t let Glorious hear that.”

Amagi chuckled twice and said nothing more, a flicker of imperceptible disappointment in her eyes.

He expertly returned to his familiar Commander’s office. There weren’t many Commanders as dedicated as him anymore. Who else would go to work as soon as they returned?

“Welcome back, Master. Gascogne, ready for duty at any time!” Gascogne had obviously already known about his return. Although her face was still expressionless, her voice clearly carried joy.

Wang Yu couldn’t help but reach out and pat Gascogne’s head, quickly retracting his hand before Gascogne’s cooling system malfunctioned: “You’ve worked hard too, Gascogne. There haven’t been any urgent matters these past few days, have there?”

“All tasks have been organized.”

Wang Yu nodded. When it came to following rigid procedures, Gascogne was much more reliable than him, the Commander. He had only asked out of habit.

“Everything has been settled with Xianhua City. There should be some coordination work later, Gascogne, please pay close attention to it.” Wang Yu indicated that he hadn’t just been playing these past few days; he had also done some work.

Gascogne responded softly, watching Wang Yu flip through documents, occasionally offering a few explanations.

“Oh, and Gascogne, I brought gifts for you all this time.”
