If he unleashed his full strength, Batman could take down these fifty security guards in a matter of seconds.
But he wouldn't do that. Batman, relying on his training over the past few days, firmly controlled the force of every punch and kick, keeping it at a level similar to the previous Batman.
Even so, the security guards were still no match for Batman, being thrown and knocked unconscious one after another using various combat techniques.
It was then that Silver Sable looked at Batman with interest, a look of eagerness on her face:
"Who are you? You can take down seven or eight of my subordinates with your bare hands? Interested in a few moves with me?"
"No interest," Batman spat out two cold words, jumping to the security door of the laboratory, raising his hand, and a Spider-Silk shot out as he left.
Silver Sable stood still, her multi-functional utility belt tightly cinching her slender waist, making her figure appear even more striking.
"Holding back everywhere, it seems he's not a bad person... Did he learn about Osborn's human experiments through some channel and come specifically to collect evidence?"
She did not stop Batman, letting him leave, and turned to continue taking photos of the experimental subjects with her phone for evidence.
As soon as dawn broke, Silver Sable would send all these photos to the New York Police Department.
"Biotechnology Base..."
Batman left the laboratory located on the second basement level. He did not leave the Osborn Group building. Instead, he climbed up the exterior wall, using his Spider-Silk and wall-crawling ability to reach the twentieth floor.
According to Peter Parker's diary, he was bitten on the twenty-first floor, at the artificially cultivated genetically mutated Spider Base.
"A biotechnology company would undoubtedly give each organism a unique number. I just need to find information about that specific Spider and see when it went missing."
"As long as it matches the content of Peter Parker's diary, it will prove that the ability came from genetic mutation, not from experimentation."
Whether it came from genetic mutation or experimentation, from Batman's perspective, he didn't want either.
But if he had to choose, Batman would rather choose genetic mutation than human experiments that cost dozens of lives.
One hour, two hours... Batman searched non-stop for three full hours, from the twentieth floor all the way to the thirtieth floor, still finding no information about that Spider.
The night was about to pass, and the sky was already showing the White of dawn. Batman, seemingly tireless, continued towards the thirty-first floor.
"None, still none..."
Batman once again tossed a stack of documents about genetically mutated Spiders aside, his brows tightly furrowed.
Continuing to search like this would most likely be futile; he had to think of other methods.
Just as Batman was about to go to the thirty-second floor, the building's floor plan next to the stairs made his eyes light up.
The first to tenth floors were publicly accessible areas, the tenth to twentieth floors housed various laboratories, and from the twentieth floor upwards were the core areas of various biotechnologies, all the way to the fifty-third floor.
From this floor up to the sixtieth floor was the private domain of Norman Osborn, the founder and chairman of the Osborn Group.
Norman Osborn's chairman's office was located on the very top floor of the building, the sixtieth floor, occupying more than half of the entire floor's area.
"The disappearance of that genetically mutated Spider would surely be reported by basic staff or scientific researchers. I just need to search Norman Osborn's office, or the office of the executive responsible for genetically mutated Spiders."
Realizing this, Batman no longer wasted time, flipping onto the exterior wall of the building and heading upwards.
Click.
Top floor, sixtieth floor. Batman looked left and right, confirmed no one was there, and quietly dropped down from the ventilation shaft.
But before he could even act, his movements froze.
Besides him, there was another person here, someone he hadn't expected—Black Cat.
The woman with snowy White hair, dressed in a tight-fitting suit, was kneeling on one knee in front of a cabinet in Norman Osborn's office, constantly rummaging through something.
Her form-fitting black leather suit revealed her waist-to-hip ratio, round like a ripe Water peach.
Due to the angle, and without the "Detective Mode" provided by the Batsuit, Batman hadn't even noticed her presence before landing.
"Peter Parker's Spider-Sense can quickly analyze microscopic information elements in the environment for danger warnings, but it offers no help for entities without hostility."
Batman silently noted this. He watched Black Cat rummaging through cabinets, seemingly also looking for something in Norman Osborn's office, just like himself.
"You seem very busy."
Batman waited for a while, then spoke when Black Cat started to bend over to rummage through the bottom layer of a cabinet.
A sudden remark in the middle of the night made Black Cat jolt up from the ground, as if caught red-handed in the act of stealing... which was indeed the case.
"Who are you?" Black Cat's hands were in a claw shape, adopting an offensive stance.
"Who are you?" Batman stood motionless in the Shadow.
"I am Kingpin, the underground emperor of New York. I suggest you leave immediately!" Black Cat said in the fiercest tone she could muster.
"..." Batman looked at this partner, whom he had previously thought well of, and for a moment didn't know what to say.
Perhaps it was standing in the Shadow, or perhaps Batman's low voice reminded Black Cat of something, she looked at Batman and slowly relaxed her guard, then said with surprise and delight:
"Batman?"
"What are you doing here?"
Seeing that Black Cat had recognized him, Batman then stepped out of the Shadow, allowing Black Cat to completely relax her guard.
"Kingpin hired Squid Man to kill you, did you know about that? Also, I always thought you were some kind of monster before, I didn't expect you to be just a human like me?"
Black Cat said, looking at Batman, who was completely enveloped in a black stealth suit, with even his face fully covered, like a ninja.
"Not the same," Batman shook his head slightly. "What are you doing here?"
His soul came from another World, a place completely different from here.
"I heard that Kingpin is one of the shareholders of Osborn Group, so I wanted to see if I could find any relevant information." Black Cat resumed her rummaging. "I don't want to see Kingpin's Gang grow stronger. What about you?"
"I'm looking for information related to Osborn Group's biotechnology," Batman said.
"Biotechnology? Genetic modification or something? I remember there was one right there." Black Cat casually pointed to the documents she had discarded on the ground not far away.
Batman quickly took a few steps forward and picked up the documents. They contained exactly what he had been desperately searching for: the Spider that caused Peter Parker to gain his abilities.
The date recorded for this Spider's disappearance and the discovery of its corpse was precisely the day Peter Parker visited Osborn Group.
Without knowing why, Batman let out a heavy sigh of relief, but then immediately tensed up again.
Kingpin's investment in a large multinational corporation like Osborn indicated that the head of New York's underworld possessed a large amount of capital... and a Gang having a large amount of capital was an extremely terrifying thing.
