Chapter 20: Find a Lawyer

"I thought you were a nocturnal animal, never showing up during the day?"

In an uninhabited low-rise building in Hell's Kitchen, Black Cat, dressed in a crop top and hot pants, sat on a chair and said to the fully armed Batman.

"Also, wearing that outfit in broad daylight, are you planning to fight someone? Let's be clear, I'm not going to bed with you."

Batman's mouth twitched. He admitted that Black Cat was indeed very beautiful. The sculpted abs, uncovered by her white crop top, were like carvings, and the upward curve outlined a striking, soft arc.

Her two long, powerful legs were casually crossed, and her smooth, jade-like feet dangled freely in the air... Black Cat was wearing a pair of open-toed white high heels.

"I'm here to discuss the lawyer matter with you."

Batman's face, hidden beneath his mask, showed no expression.

"I'm having a headache over that," Black Cat sighed, "It started smoothly, but as soon as those lawyers heard my target was Kingpin, they all fled."

"A bunch of cowards."

"We need a lawyer who is bold enough and capable enough," Batman said.

"Of course, I know that," Black Cat rolled her eyes, "Are you very concerned about this?"

"No, I also need a lawyer," Batman said, "I need to help a scientist sue Osborn Enterprise."

"It seems Osborn Group must have really offended you," Black Cat said with a smile, "I'm curious about who is actually under that battle suit. Could it be the 'Vampire' legend that's recently become popular in New York?"

She stood up and went to the window of the uninhabited low-rise building, leaning over to watch the hurried pedestrians below:

"The longer it takes to find a lawyer, the sooner Kingpin will successfully launder those funds. Once he's completely laundered them and transformed into an entrepreneur, it will be difficult to take him down."

After she finished speaking, there was no response from behind her.

Black Cat turned to look at the spot where Batman had been standing, only to find that he had left at some unknown time.

"...I shouldn't be ugly, so why does that guy always refuse to stay with me for a bit longer?" Feeling bored, she opened the window and jumped out.

At the Manhattan branch of the New York Police Department, George Stacy was urging the Police to escort Squid Man onto a transport vehicle.

The transport vehicle had been specially modified, with high-voltage current running through the four walls of the compartment, and the body had been reinforced to effectively prevent Squid Man from escaping during transport.

Thanks to the clues provided by You-Know-Who and Ogg's recovered list of victims, the Squid Man case was progressing rapidly.

After today's routine court hearing, Squid Man would undoubtedly face the death penalty.

George Stacy slammed the compartment door shut with a bang, then waved to the escort convoy, which immediately set off majestically towards the courthouse.

"Dad, is that Squid so dangerous that he needs an armed escort?"

Beside George Stacy, a young girl in a pale yellow top and plaid skirt asked curiously.

The girl had long, light blonde hair, and her face was as fair as porcelain. A few strands of hair were disheveled by the wind across her forehead, making her delicate features appear even more like someone from a painting.

"Gwen, didn't I tell you not to come to the Police Station when I'm working?" George Stacy frowned slightly.

"I was just curious, and also to ask if you're coming home for dinner tonight?" Gwen Stacy pouted, forming a slightly unhappy arc with her lips.

"Of course. Because You-Know-Who keeps dumping criminals at the Police Station's entrance, I haven't been able to leave work early for days," George Stacy couldn't help but chuckle at his daughter's long face.

"Really?" The curve of Gwen's lips immediately turned into a gleeful smile. "But what's the deal with You-Know-Who?"

Seeing his daughter pressing for answers, George Stacy simply recounted the events of the past few days.

"It seems that guy, like Spider-Man, is a kind and helpful citizen," Gwen mused after listening to her father's account.

She said it casually, but unexpectedly, George Stacy's expression suddenly became serious, and he looked at Gwen sternly:

"He, like Spider-Man, is not a kind and helpful citizen."

"Spider-Man thinks he's a guy who can enforce the law just by wearing a mask. Often, when the Police arrive quickly after receiving an alarm, they find broken glass everywhere and criminals suspended in the air by webs... The deeds are good, but he works alone, and the headlines are full of information about him."

"During the time he appeared, the resignation rate of all Police Stations in New York remained high, because they felt useless, that New York only needed Spider-Man, and the Police were just workers cleaning up the scene."

"If this continues, New York will sooner or later become a paradise for crime. How many criminals can he, Spider-Man, deal with at the same time?"

Gwen was startled by her father's serious expression. She shrank her neck and whispered:

"Then... what about You-Know-Who?"

"He's simply a Terrorists who uses the guise of fighting crime to vent violence," George Stacy said.

His assistant, Ogg, happened to pass by Chief George at that moment and quickly asked:

"Should we issue a warrant for You-Know-Who?"

George Stacy shook his head repeatedly:

"We don't know his name, his appearance, or even if he's actually human. Based on yesterday's criminal's description, he might even be a Vampire."

"Although you and I know this is unlikely, issuing a warrant would only cause unnecessary public panic."

Watching the armed vehicles escorting Squid Man disappear at the end of the street, George Stacy then stepped into the Police Station.

At this moment, on top of a tall building, Batman stood at the edge of the roof, looking down at the transport convoy.

Nothing happened until Squid Man was caged and brought into the courthouse, and only then did Batman quietly leave.

Returning to the Abandoned Shipyard, Batman didn't remove his battle suit. He immediately opened his computer and began searching for information on Silver Sable.

Black Cat's search for a lawyer had made no progress, and this matter couldn't be delayed.

As Black Cat said, once Kingpin's funds were completely laundered, opportunities to take him down would be few... And as someone from a security company, Silver Sable would inevitably be involved with some underground forces, and it was highly possible she knew lawyers bold enough to take on both Kingpin and Osborn's cases.

He didn't know Silver Sable's real name, so he again used a hand-drawn image for computer recognition to conduct the search.

"Silver Sable, real name Silver Sablinova, daughter of the leader of the 'Wild Pack' established by the government. After her father's death, the Pack became a private mercenary group, and Silver Sable subsequently founded 'Silver Sable Security,' serving as its Chairwoman and CEO..."
