"Join us, or after we've savored your beautiful wife and daughter, we'll throw you into the Hudson River."
"All members of your 'Zegen Gang' have joined Kingpin, why are you still resisting?"
Hell's Kitchen is an administrative district in Manhattan near the Hudson River. At a pier along the Hudson River, a Gang member held a gun to the head of another Gang leader, Zegen.
Zegen knelt on the ground, his hands tied behind his back, his Sun temple twitching from the cold gun barrel pressed against it. He forced a grim smile:
"Once night falls, a few small Gangs in New York always mysteriously disappear, while a certain Gang collects funds and strengthens itself... You're Kingpin's men, aren't you, Anthony?"
"That's right," Anthony, holding the gun, licked his lips. "Hurry up and refuse me, I can't wait to have a good time with your wife."
Around them, seven or eight Kingpin Gang members holding firearms, along with a dozen newly joined former "Zegen Gang" members, burst into laughter.
"Go ahead," Zegen grimaced. "Last night, I got drunk and accidentally killed them all. Although I'm sober now, I don't plan to keep living."
Anthony's face showed a hint of regret:
"The Boss specifically instructed us to avoid killing people as much as possible. He wants to absorb other Gangs, not just eliminate them."
"But guys like you are an exception."
Bang!
A gunshot rang out, and Zegen instinctively closed his eyes.
He thought he was dead, but his throbbing heart told him he was still alive.
"You can miss a shot even with the gun pressed against someone's head?"
This was the thought that inexplicably popped into Zegen's mind. Then he heard the constant sound of heavy blows, fist to flesh, and the almost continuous sounds of bones breaking and screams.
This sound told Zegen that someone had come to save him.
Zegen opened his eyes and only saw a figure with sharp, pointed ears appearing and disappearing in the night. Each time he appeared, several Kingpin Gang members would fall to the ground, groaning and clutching their abdomens or broken limbs.
Da da.
The gunshots only rang a few times before being replaced by the sound of heavy punches to bodies. A few breaths later, even the groans on the pier disappeared. Figures lay on the ground with twisted limbs, unknown if they were dead or alive.
"What happened...?"
Zegen couldn't remember knowing anyone who could take down a dozen armed strong men in a few seconds. As he stood bewildered, a pistol extended from behind him and once again pressed against Zegen's Sun temple.
"Who, who is it! Come out! If you don't come out, I'll shoot!"
Although his voice was trembling and his gun-holding hand was shaking constantly, Zegen knew very well that it was Anthony's voice.
"You took my gun, but you didn't expect I had another one, right? Come out!" Anthony yelled.
He had suddenly taken a heavy blow and passed out from the dizziness, but the intense pain had jolted him awake. His first reaction was to use Zegen as a hostage.
"Save, save me! I don't want to die!"
Zegen, who had just been pulled back from the brink of Death, found himself with a gun pressed against his head again. At this moment, the desire to live suppressed his desire to die, and he quickly cried for help.
Hiss.
On the dark pier, an extremely subtle sound rang out. A black spider silk tightly adhered to Zegen's leg.
Then Zegen lost his balance. He was dragged forward by an immense force, flying out and crashing into the pointed-eared figure's fist. He was almost broken in half and fainted on the spot.
"Huh?"
One second, Anthony was holding Zegen hostage; the next, he found the hostage had flown away. His brain, unable to comprehend this ghostly scene, crashed for a moment.
Before Anthony could react, the black Shadow had disappeared into the night, then reappeared in front of Anthony.
Still without time to fire, Anthony only felt as if he had collided with a speeding truck and flew out. While in the air, something grabbed him and violently pulled him back.
"Ah!"
Anthony's scream had just left his vocal cords when his neck was grabbed, and at the same time, a deep voice like a devil's rang out:
"Tell me, where is Kingpin?"
"Ah ah ah!"
Anthony was going crazy. At this moment, he prayed frantically to God, but the only response was a heavy punch to his face, dislocating his jaw on the spot.
The intense pain brought a sliver of sanity back to Anthony, immediately followed by an overwhelming wave of pain.
Crack!
Batman squeezed Anthony's face and, with a slight force, reset his dislocated jaw. He asked again:
"Tell me, where is Kingpin?"
Kingpin had invested in Osborn Group. Batman didn't place all his hopes of making Kingpin withdraw his investment on Black Cat; he was also using his own methods to find Kingpin.
"I don't know..."
With his jaw reset and the pain largely alleviated, Anthony subconsciously said.
Click!
This time it wasn't his jaw, but one of Anthony's fingers that was broken. Batman looked at him expressionlessly:
"Speak."
"I really don't know, boo-hoo," Anthony couldn't help but cry. "I only know that the Gang Boss is Kingpin, and his orders are relayed by different people every day. I've never even seen him!"
"Who are the people who relay the orders?" Batman looked at the Gang strongman he was holding, who was crying like a child, but he remained unmoved.
"I don't know..." Anthony saw this devil-like figure raise his fist again and racked his brain, blurting out, "Don't, don't hit me! They all have one thing in common!"
"What?" Batman loosened his fist.
"They all wear suits!"
After saying that, Anthony took a heavy chop to the back of his head.
Batman rummaged through Anthony's pockets, found a mobile phone, and called the Police. He disappeared without a trace before the Police arrived.
More than ten minutes later, Manhattan Police Department vehicles arrived at the scene with sirens wailing.
"Chief George, it looks like just a Gang fight," Assistant Ogg said, looking at the Gang members lying scattered on the ground.
George Stacy didn't speak. He meticulously searched every corner with a flashlight, finally finding black spider silk on Anthony's chest and Zegen's leg.
"Just like a few days ago, the mastermind is still that guy whose name and appearance are unknown," George Stacy frowned. "We can't let that guy continue to get away with it. Go back and retrieve the surveillance footage from nearby. I want to find out who did this."
Batman, having left Hell's Kitchen, casually found an office building and snuck in:
"I need to check all the surveillance along the way and delete any footage that might have captured me."
"After Sun, I need to assemble a new computer and then visit Dr. Otto... I hope Dr. Otto's mood is still stable."
