Chapter 3: Demonic style

When Lü Yang walked out of the quiet room, he found that someone was already waiting outside the door.

Lü Yang was instantly startled; the person was dressed in a black Daoist robe, with a sinister expression, and it was none other than the black-robed Daoist who had previously assigned him to Hehuan Hall!

"Greetings, Senior Brother," Lü Yang hastily saluted.

"You are very good; you are a talent."

The black-robed Daoist said with a smile, "I originally heard that Yu Suzhen had brought a very capable young man into the room, and a Breakthrough in Qi Refining was just around the corner."

"But I didn't expect that venomous woman to fail."

At this point, the black-robed Daoist looked at Lü Yang with a strange expression.

Three days, a full three days!

Yu Suzhen's cries could even be heard outside the quiet room; even though the black-robed Daoist considered himself well-traveled, he couldn't help but feel a hint of respect at this moment.

If this child does not die, he will surely become a pillar of the Saint Sect in the future!

"Follow me."

The black-robed Daoist was named Liu Xin, a formal Disciple of Butian Peak, one of the Inner Gate Four Peaks, responsible for guiding newly promoted Named Disciples and explaining Sect matters.

"The Outer Gate Four Halls and Inner Gate Four Peaks correspond to each other."

On the way, Liu Xin introduced to Lü Yang with great interest, "Aside from Holy Fire Cliff where the Sect Leader resides, our Saint Sect is primarily based on the Inner Gate Four Peaks."

"Since you came from Hehuan Hall, you naturally belong to my Butian Peak; I will first take you to update the roster."

With someone guiding him, Lü Yang naturally couldn't ask for more: "Many thanks, Senior Brother Liu."

"It's just part of my duty."

Liu Xin said calmly, "After updating the roster, I'll take you to the other three halls. The benefits for formal Disciples are quite numerous, considered welfare provided by the Saint Sect."

"According to the rules, each formal Disciple can only receive it once." At this point, Liu Xin's expression was somewhat wistful: "Once you enter the Inner Gate, if you want to obtain items of the same level again, you must complete tasks issued by the Saint Sect and earn contribution points to exchange for them."

Lü Yang frowned, "Contribution points?"

"It's the currency issued by the Saint Sect," Liu Xin explained. "Junior Brother, after you update your roster, you should be able to see it through your Disciple token."

Lü Yang's curiosity was piqued, and he immediately followed Liu Xin to update the roster.

The process was very simple; in fact, it was just moving his life lamp, which he lit when he first joined the Sect, from the outer gate area to the inner gate area.

Then, Lü Yang infused a wisp of True Qi into the token at his waist, and a line of text immediately appeared on the token:

"Formal Disciple, Lü Yang."

"As a formal Disciple, the Saint Sect freely grants you 50 contribution points. Contribution points can be used to exchange for Spirit Stones, Cultivation Techniques, Magical Artifacts, Cultivation Immortal Caves, etc."

"After entering the Inner Gate, you will need to pay contribution points to rent a Cultivation Immortal Cave, with the rent being 30 contribution points per month. Of course, you can also choose to purchase a Cultivation Immortal Cave. As a newly promoted Inner Sect Disciple, if you purchase a Cultivation Immortal Cave within ten years, you can enjoy a 20% down payment discount."

—Such introductions filled more than a dozen pages.

After Lü Yang read them carefully, he concluded: "This Inner Gate only cares about money!"

With contribution points, one can travel anywhere, with Cultivation Techniques, Medicinal Pills, and Magic Treasures readily available. Without contribution points, one cannot move an inch, unable even to afford an Immortal Cave.

At the same time, Lü Yang also understood what Liu Xin's

"welfare" referred to.

Every Named Disciple, upon being promoted to a formal Disciple, can use their Disciple token to select one Magic Treasure from the Artifact Refining Hall, one Medicinal Pill from the Alchemy Hall, one companion Spirit Beast from the Beast Taming Hall, and one Dual Cultivation Cauldron from the Hehuan Hall, all without needing to pay any contribution points.

"Looking at it this way, it really is a benefit."

Lü Yang's mind stirred, and he opened the list of redeemable items for contribution points through his Disciple token. Lines of corresponding text immediately appeared.

The cheapest Cultivation Techniques, Magical Artifacts, Medicinal Pills, Spirit Beasts, and cauldrons all required at least 100 contribution points.

In contrast, the rewards for tasks within the Saint Sect were pitifully small, all single-digit contribution points, with very few reaching double digits.

From this, it was clear that the free four-piece set after being promoted to a formal Disciple was worth at least 400 contribution points, which was a huge sum for a formal Disciple.

While contemplating, Lü Yang had already followed Liu Xin to the Artifact Refining Hall.

The person responsible for receiving them was Chen Hao, an elder of the Artifact Refining Hall, reportedly also a formal Disciple, and his task was to be an elder of the Artifact Refining Hall.

According to Liu Xin, these fixed-post tasks were the most lucrative in the Inner Gate; not only did they offer many contribution points, often one task could support a formal Disciple, but they were also stable, a true "iron rice bowl." Unfortunately, there were too many monks and too little gruel; without connections, one couldn't get such tasks at all.

"Senior Brother Liu? It's been a long time."

Upon entering the Artifact Refining Hall, Lü Yang noticed that Chen Hao first sized him up, then looked at Liu Xin, saying enthusiastically, "Bringing a new Disciple again?"

"Indeed."

Liu Xin grinned, implying something in his words: "You know, so why aren't you quickly bringing out the best Magical Artifacts in the Artifact Refining Hall for Junior Brother Lü to examine?"

"Alright!"

Chen Hao nodded eagerly, then led everyone into the inner courtyard of the Artifact Refining Hall. However, as they walked, Lü Yang frowned in surprise:

"This... this is a Disciple's Cultivation quiet room, isn't it?"

Shouldn't one go to a warehouse or something to retrieve Magical Artifacts?

Chen Hao first looked puzzled upon hearing this, then suddenly understood and laughed loudly, "Junior Brother Lü, you don't know, but the finest Magical Artifacts are all here."

Before he finished speaking, the three stopped in front of a Cultivation room.

"The Junior Brother in this room is very senior; he was a Named Disciple in the Outer Gate for three years, but unfortunately, he's a bit stubborn and went down a wrong path in his Cultivation Technique..."

After speaking, Chen Hao directly pushed open the door.

Then Lü Yang saw a Daoist on the futon in the center of the room, with his eyes tightly closed, muttering to himself, seemingly lost in a dream.

"It's done... I'm going to succeed..."

Immediately after, Chen Hao formed a hand seal, and the Daoist in the room suddenly opened his eyes. His originally dull face immediately showed a hint of ecstasy:

"Haha! This Daoist has succeeded!"

Boom!

Before he finished speaking, his entire body exploded with a bang, blood and flesh scattering everywhere, then swirling back, all merging into the skeleton left in place.

In a moment, a living person disappeared.

In its place was a "bone sword" that was as clear as jade and orderly in sections, gently landing on the futon, radiating dazzling Magical Artifact spiritual light.

Chen Hao stepped forward, picked up the "bone sword" and handed it to Lü Yang, then said with satisfaction, "The Magical Artifact 'Bone Jade Sword' is considered top-grade in the 'Hundred Treasures Book of True Insight'. This Junior Brother is indeed a talent; after so many years of arduous Cultivation, his Cultivation is profound, otherwise the Magical Artifact's spiritual light wouldn't be so pure."

Lü Yang: "..."

Looking at the Bone Jade Sword in Chen Hao's hand and recalling his experiences in his previous life, Lü Yang felt a chill to the bone and understood the First Saint Sect's style even more.

In summary, it was nothing more than eight words: the strong prey on the weak, and everything is used to its fullest potential!

The Sect spends resources to Cultivate you Named Disciples, so you must create value for the Sect. If you can't create value, the Sect will help you create it!

If you Breakthrough and are promoted to a formal Disciple, then naturally everyone is happy.

If you can't Breakthrough, the Sect can't support you for a lifetime for free. Naturally, it will recoup the resources invested in you to ensure the Sect doesn't lose money.

Therefore, in the First Saint Sect's view, some Disciples are clouds, some are water; they just do different things, but they are all talents, there are no Trash.

"This really is... a Sect true to its name."

Lü Yang closed his eyes, let out a deep breath of turbid Qi, then thought of himself having the Hundred Lifetimes Book as a fallback, and when he opened his eyes again, he had regained his composure.

"Junior Brother has such a good Heart-Nature; truly an outstanding talent!"

On the other side, seeing Lü Yang calm down so quickly, a hint of surprise flashed in Liu Xin's eyes, and then the smile on his face became even brighter.

Immediately after, Lü Yang followed Liu Xin to the Alchemy Hall and the Beast Taming Hall in turn, receiving a "Qi Replenishing Pill" and a "Human-faced Owl" respectively. The former could replenish True Qi after consumption, while the latter was like a homing pigeon, typically used by formal Disciples to transmit messages.

It wasn't until the last cauldron that Liu Xin found himself in a predicament.

"Junior Brother, you Breakthrough too quickly."

Liu Xin shook his head and said, "You just joined the Outer Gate, and you're Qi Refining in one day. The speed is too fast; the cauldrons reserved by Hehuan Hall haven't arrived yet."

"How about Junior Brother waits a few days?"

Lü Yang, of course, didn't care about the cauldron, and immediately cupped his hands and said, "I'll follow Senior Brother's arrangements."

Liu Xin burst into laughter, then took out a Jade Slip and handed it to Lü Yang: "This is the secret True Art of my Butian Peak. Take it back and Cultivate it well."

Lü Yang took the Jade Slip and immediately activated his spiritual sense to examine it.

The next second, an extremely complex Cultivation Technique appeared in his mind.
