Chapter 5: Doomsday Ring

“You’re saying all of humanity will be wiped out in less than an hour?”

Wu Jin’s expression was grim:

“Fake, just messing with you! The operation is canceled. Head to the Ten Thousand Affairs Hall immediately. I need to check something! Don’t worry, you’ll still get paid!”

The Helmet Man looked at Wu Jin in surprise:

“Operation canceled? You’ve been planning this for so long, and you’re canceling it at the last minute?”

Wu Jin urged, “It’s really canceled, stop wasting time! Drive quickly!”

The Helmet Man seemed to see Wu Jin this anxious for the first time.

He hesitated, then waved his hand and said, “Drive, to the Ten Thousand Affairs Hall in the city center!”

The minivan started and headed towards the city center.

Having learned from his previous experience, Wu Jin changed his clothes in the car this time.

Upon reaching his destination, he opened the door and got out directly.

“We’ll wait for you in parking lot 2. Remember to find me when you come out!”

The Helmet Man shouted from behind him.

Wu Jin ignored the Helmet Man and walked straight into the main entrance.

He queued up to enter the Ten Thousand Affairs Hall and went to the quantum computer he had used last time.

He pressed the voice interaction button:

“Help me find the 2025 National College Entrance Examination Paper 1 Chinese test paper!”

“Also, check my identity!”

Soon, the college entrance exam paper was easily found.

However, when the quantum computer automatically entered the name “Wu Jin” into the search bar, the final display result was:

“According to Federation law, this search term has been blocked!”

Wu Jin was stunned:

“No way! What kind of identity is it that even his name is blocked?!”

He didn’t believe it and decided to check other things he was familiar with.

“Check Lin City No. 1 Middle School thirty years ago!”

“Search for major events after 2025!”

“…”

But for some reason, the quantum computer seemed to have gone on strike.

All the terms he searched for resulted in “Unable to query.”

“Something’s not right! It must be targeting me!”

Wu Jin guessed that his identity might be preventing him from querying more things.

Helplessly, the most urgent matter was naturally the college entrance exam.

So he could only start memorizing the Chinese test questions first.

For the next half an hour, he was immersed in memorizing the questions.

Because of his previous experience, he was also paying attention to his surroundings.

Just three minutes before the Doomsday countdown ended, he noticed a familiar middle-aged man appear at the staircase on the second floor, leading four guards towards him.

When they came down the stairs and approached, Wu Jin looked at the time on his watch.

One minute left.

Just enough time for them to talk.

“They really know how to time it!” Wu Jin muttered softly.

After the middle-aged man approached,

Wu Jin spoke first:

“Hello, may I ask you a few questions?”

The middle-aged man was surprised and subconsciously took a few steps back.

The guards behind him also placed their hands on their holsters.

Seeing their reaction, Wu Jin became even more curious about his identity.

“Do you know me?”

The middle-aged man looked wary:

“Of course we know you, Mr. Wu Jin!”

Wu Jin’s eyes lit up:

“That’s great! Can you hint at what my identity is! What do I do!”

The middle-aged man’s expression changed repeatedly upon hearing these questions.

He looked at Wu Jin’s expression, which didn’t seem to be lying, but still confirmed:

“Your identity… You forgot? Doomsday Ring? Doomsday Theory?”

The middle-aged man tried to say two nouns, while observing Wu Jin’s expression.

Wu Jin looked astonished.

Doomsday Ring?

Doomsday Theory?

Could it be that the Wu Jin of the future world really tried to stop the end of the world?

But now it seemed he not only failed but also turned himself into someone like a criminal.

The middle-aged man looked at Wu Jin’s expression and realized that Wu Jin wasn’t lying; he truly had amnesia.

His expression changed drastically. He took two steps back and waved his hand, and the guards behind him raised their guns at Wu Jin:

“Mr. Wu Jin, I strongly suspect you forgot to take your medication, causing a relapse. Please come with us now!”

Here it comes!

The same old line! No new ideas.

Pain struck, and Doomsday arrived.

Wu Jin slowly woke up and checked the time.

It was the third period in the afternoon. This time, he had spoken for over two hours.

“You’re awake, Melancholy God!”

Gao Jian was idly scrolling on his phone beside him.

Wu Jin ignored him and quickly took out a pen and paper, starting to write down the college entrance exam questions he had memorized.

It took him a full half period.

He perfected the questions he had written down and put down his pen.

“What did you just call me? Melancholy God?” Wu Jin asked curiously.

Gao Jian showed a horrified expression:

“Oh my god, big brother, your reaction time is way too slow. It’s been half an hour and you’re just now responding!”

Wu Jin pressed on, “Tell me, who gave me that nickname this time?”

Gao Jian looked meaningfully ahead.

Wu Jin followed his gaze, which was directed at Lan Youyou’s back.

“Lan Youyou?” Wu Jin was somewhat incredulous.

Gao Jian said mysteriously:

“She didn’t say it directly, but she said it casually, saying you looked melancholy and very handsome!”

“Really?!”

Wu Jin’s heart trembled.

Being called handsome by such a beautiful girl, this feeling was truly wonderful.

Gao Jian said excitedly:

“Of course! You were sleeping then, so you don’t know the reactions of our classmates after Lan Youyou said that, it was truly… tsk tsk tsk!”

Gao Jian got carried away, and his voice was a bit loud.

On the podium, the chemistry teacher’s chalk head accurately aimed and landed on Gao Jian’s forehead.

“Gao Jian!!! Talking in class and disturbing your classmates’ studies!!”

After speaking, he aimed his cannon at Wu Jin again.

“Wu Jin!! Look at you, all day long either sleeping or chatting, truly incorrigible!”

Wu Jin and the other boy lowered their heads, admitting their mistake.

The chemistry teacher shook his head and continued the lesson.

The two exchanged glances and said nothing more.

Wu Jin lowered his head, looking at the college entrance exam questions he had copied down.

The Chinese test paper was very simple. When he memorized it, he even memorized the answers along with it!

So now he only needed to consolidate his memory.

At the same time, Wu Jin was also thinking about his experience in this dream.

Doomsday Ring!

It sounded very much like the name of an organization.

It was related to Doomsday, plus the expression of that middle-aged man.

If it really was an organization, it was highly likely that he himself had created it.

As for the purpose of creating it! It must have been because of the Doomsday thirty years later.

As for the Doomsday Theory,

It was easier to understand.

It was nothing more than him acting as a whistleblower, warning the world about Doomsday.

But why didn’t it work, and why did he end up in such a predicament?

Looking at the middle-aged man’s reaction, he seemed to be very evasive about Doomsday!

There were many possibilities here.

It was possible that the Blue Star Federation in the future world didn’t believe him, only seeing him as a madman, which was why they issued special laws to prevent him, this madman, from working in government departments.

And another possibility was that the Blue Star Federation knew about the existence of Doomsday, but chose to conceal it to avoid social unrest.

But if that were the case, why would his identity be so sensitive?

He pulled out the notebook where he recorded his dreams.

“The dream world is the future world (basically confirmed)”

“Future Wu Jin, due to certain actions and words, has a sensitive identity (speculated to be related to the Doomsday Ring and Doomsday Theory)”

“To-do: 1. My future identity. 2. Why the Blue Star Federation is so sensitive about Wu Jin. 3. Information on the Doomsday Ring and Doomsday Theory. 4. …”

Writing to this point, Wu Jin suddenly paused.

He carefully reread the plan he had written twice.

He found a loophole, or rather, a misconception.

So many questions, in the final analysis, all seemed related to Doomsday.

He realized that what he was thinking about now was putting the cart before the horse.

For the dream world, what should be clarified most was not Wu Jin’s identity or the Blue Star Federation.

But Doomsday!

What was the root cause of the disaster that led to humanity’s painful demise?

What was the purpose of the original Wu Jin going to such lengths to hire mercenaries and attack that biotechnology company?

All questions returned to the beginning.

There are priorities.

Wu Jin thought that as long as he solved the Doomsday in the future world, other problems would naturally be easy to clarify.

After all, one hour in the dream was still a bit too short.

Thinking of this,

He circled the to-do items he had just written down.

Below, he wrote:

“What needs to be done next!”

“1. Query college entrance exam questions, safely pass the college entrance exam”

“2. Find the ultimate secret of the biotechnology company’s isolation room”

“3. Based on the secret of the isolation room, find a way to stop Doomsday”
