Chapter 32: Chu Saiying

In the afternoon, the sound of cicadas continued to be heard outside the teaching building.

There are always students playing and fighting in the corridors during breaks.

Lu Yanhe did not stand up, but was organizing the notes he had hastily written during class.

Li Pengfei suddenly walked up to Lu Yanhe and asked, "Lu Yanhe, did you cheat?"

Lu Yanhe looked up at him speechlessly, not knowing what to say: "..."

Li Pengfei looked puzzled. "Why else could you improve so much so quickly? I heard you only made five mistakes in your impromptu word memorization today. That doesn't make sense."

Lu Yanhe groaned before saying, "Because I just happened to recite it myself last night."

Li Pengfei showed an incredible expression.

"Just right?"

"Yes," Lu Yanhe said, "I just finished memorizing the English vocabulary for the first semester of Grade 11."

Li Pengfei stared at Lu Yanhe with a strange expression.

After a few seconds, he said, "Okay, that's lucky for you."

Lu Yanhe hummed.

"Chen Qin and I made another bet." Li Pengfei said suddenly.

"What bet did you make?"

"Let's make a bet on who can beat the other in the next exam," Li Pengfei said. "I didn't intend to bet, but what he said really got me excited. How is it that you haven't been to class for so long and have made such great progress with just a little effort, but I can't do that? I want to see if I can surpass you."

Lu Yanhe: "Whatever you want."

Li Pengfei glared at Lu Yanhe: "You don't believe I can surpass you?"

Lu Yanhe looked at Li Pengfei helplessly and said, "Why do you think you can surpass me?"

Li Pengfei looked at Lu Yanhe.

Lu Yanhe looked at Li Pengfei.

The two of them stared at each other.

One second.

Two seconds.

Li Pengfei suddenly broke free from his petrified state. He took a step back nimbly in the narrow aisle of desks and pointed at Lu Yanhe in an exaggerated gesture.

"Damn it! You're so arrogant! You've successfully pissed me off!"

Lu Yanhe didn't know what to say.

The air in the September classroom was filled with the youthful energy that only schools can possess. The sunlight seemed brighter and fuller than anywhere else. The chaotic classroom didn't seem neat at all, yet everyone's face was filled with youthful energy.

Lu Yanhe said helplessly: "I'm not arrogant, Li Pengfei, I don't want to compete with you, I just -"

"He's just looking for another way to make a living, Li Pengfei." A sharp and sarcastic voice suddenly appeared.

Lu Yanhe and Li Pengfei couldn't help but look at the person who suddenly appeared in surprise.

Lu Yanhe found the information corresponding to the person in front of him in his memory.

Chu Saiying.

If Lu Yanhe were to describe his first impression of Chu Saiying in one sentence, he would say, "Isn't this an Asian version of Malfoy?" Yes, the Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies.

Both the original body's impression of Chu Saiying and Lu Yanhe's first impression of Chu Saiying fit the image of Malfoy.

A high school student combed his hair into a slicked back style. His dark, shiny hair made Lu Yanhe curious about how much hairspray he had used.

Of course, the most important thing is the arrogant expression on Chu Saiying's face, which is the same as Malfoy's.

Both of them are rich second-generations whose families own mines. Compared with him, Li Pengfei is like a landlord's son who became rich overnight. Chu Saiying exudes the sophistication of having received a good education and a favorable living condition since childhood, which makes Lu Yanhe subconsciously feel... artificial.

After all, this is not an aristocratic school, but just an ordinary high school. Li Pengfei would at most show off his newly bought brand-name clothes in front of the class. He never distinguished himself from other classmates and they still played together.

Chu Saiying, however, thinks that he and other classmates are not from the same world. He has a high opinion of himself. He never participates in class activities and only adds a handful of classmates as friends. The reason is very simple. In his words, "I will delete this person after I graduate from high school anyway, so why should I waste time adding him as a friend now?"

Li Pengfei was one of the few people in the class whom Chu Saiying took seriously - in Chu Saiying's eyes, Li Pengfei's family and his family belonged to the same class.

Li Pengfei looked at him in surprise and said, "You're back?"

Chu Saiying nodded: "Yes, I'm back."

He asked, "I'm surprised. Why didn't you go for the interview?"

Li Pengfei laughed twice with a forced smile and said, "Is there any point in going for an interview with my English level? I don't understand anything they say."

Chu Saiying: "As long as the sponsorship is sufficient, you can just say hello and their school doors will be open to you."

Li Pengfei: "Which school did you knock on?"

Chu Saiying smiled slightly: "It's a pity that I only got invitations from a few Ivy League schools."

"Oh my god, Chu Saiying, did you get an invitation from an Ivy League school in the United States?" someone next to her immediately asked in an exaggerated voice.

Chu Saiying glanced at the person next to her and said, "Chen Pei, don't be so loud. It's not a big deal."

Chen Pei: "Getting an invitation from an Ivy League school in the United States is not considered amazing? You are too modest!"

In this world, there is still America and there are still Ivy League schools.

While everyone else was still scrambling to get the Gaokao, some had already embarked on the path of studying abroad. This wasn't uncommon at this school; there were always a few well-off students with connections and connections who, while everyone else was being whipped around by the relentless pressure of the Gaokao, unable to stop for a moment, forced to work like donkeys in circles, had already taken a different path, no longer having to fight a million-strong army for that shaky little bridge.

Chu Saiying's sudden appearance attracted the attention of most of the classmates.

He was immediately surrounded by other classmates, who were curious about the details of his trip to the Ivy League schools in the United States.

In this era, the world on the other side of the ocean is no longer gilded by myths like it was twenty years ago, but it is another world and another life after all. For this group of students who live a repetitive life like a donkey pulling a millstone every day, it represents freshness, beauty and fantasy.

Lu Yanhe took the opportunity to withdraw from the bustle and walked out of the classroom.

He put his hands in his trouser pockets and walked towards the toilet.

Li Pengfei's voice suddenly caught up: "Are you really going to take the college entrance examination seriously?"

Lu Yanhe nodded.

"Why didn't you talk to Chu Saiying more?" he asked.

Li Pengfei curled his lips, looking impatient with Chu Saiying.

"I can't go with him." Li Pengfei also imitated Lu Yanhe, put his hands in his trouser pockets, and walked with him. "Aren't you going to take the art exam?"

Lu Yanhe said: "To take the art exam, you also need to take the college entrance examination, and you also need cultural scores."

"It wasn't just a casual exam. My dad wanted me to take the art exam," said Li Pengfei.
