Chapter 7: My name is Tan Xiaolin

“I am Tan Xiaolin.”

She spoke, her voice hoarse, yet exceptionally clear.

“I am not a cadet here for training.”

“I am a major directly dispatched by the Southeast Military Region Headquarters to serve as the Instructor for the Fire Phoenix Female Special Forces’s training!”

As soon as she said this, the entire training ground seemed to be put on pause.

Yan Gang, Harley, and all the Thunderbolt Commando Unit members’ sneers and glee instantly froze.

They looked at each other, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief.

“You… you said what?”

Yan Gang stammered.

“In… Instructor?”

Harley’s eyes were about to pop out; he couldn’t believe his ears and asked again.

“Say that again?!”

Everyone was stunned.

They… they had beaten up the Instructor sent by their superior and thrown her into the mud pit?

This was a huge mess!

Harley jolted, reacted, and scrambled towards Lei Zhan, his voice changing pitch.

“Captain! This is bad! Something big has happened!”

Meanwhile, by the mud pit, Yan Gang and the others were frozen in place, unable to advance or retreat, watching Tan Xiaolin with her icy gaze in the muddy water, feeling a chill run from the soles of their feet straight to their heads.

Harley scrambled to Lei Zhan, who was not far away, out of breath, his voice changing pitch.

“Cap… Captain! Some… something big has happened! We’re in trouble!”

Lei Zhan was frowning, observing the situation in the mud pit, and his heart jumped at Harley’s shout.

He grabbed Harley by the collar and sternly demanded:

“What are you yelling about! Has the sky fallen?”

“It’s worse than the sky falling!”

Harley said with a long face, pointing towards the mud pit, his tongue unable to straighten.

“That… that female soldier, she said… she’s our Fire Phoenix training’s… Instructor! With the rank of major!”

Upon hearing this, Lei Zhan’s pupils suddenly constricted.

Instructor?

Major?

He subconsciously turned his head and looked at Qin Qian, who was sitting with his legs crossed, looking unconcerned.

This matter had gone beyond his scope of decision.

Qin Qian felt Lei Zhan’s gaze and slowly spoke.

“Go take a look.”

“Yes!”

Receiving the instruction, Lei Zhan felt more confident, let go of Harley, and strode towards the mud pit.

He stood by the mud pit, looking down at Tan Xiaolin, who was covered in mud, with only her eyes still blazing.

“Are you truly the Instructor dispatched by the Southeast Military Region Headquarters to serve the Fire Phoenix Female Special Forces?”

Lei Zhan’s voice was deep and cold.

Tan Xiaolin raised her head, muddy water sliding down her cheeks, and she returned Lei Zhan’s gaze coldly.

“My letter of appointment is in my backpack. Do you need me to show it to you?”

She paused, the accusatory tone in her voice growing stronger.

“Are you Lei Zhan, the captain of the Thunderbolt Commando Unit?”

“I am.”

Lei Zhan admitted expressionlessly.

“Very good.”

Tan Xiaolin pulled at the corner of her mouth, a cold curve devoid of any smile.

“Captain Lei Zhan, according to regulations, what is the nature of assaulting a superior, especially a direct superior?”

“If this matter is reported to the Military Region, what do you think will happen to your Thunderbolt Commando Unit?”

Facing this almost naked threat, Lei Zhan didn’t even bat an eyelid.

“First, your identity has not been verified.”

“Second, we are executing the Chief Instructor’s orders to conduct a strength assessment on new recruits.”

After speaking, he ignored Tan Xiaolin’s murderous gaze, turned, and walked away.

“You!”

Tan Xiaolin trembled with anger.

“I’m telling you, Lei Zhan! This isn’t over!”

“If you don’t give me an explanation today, if you don’t apologize to me, I will immediately report this to the Military Region!”

“I want to see how capable your Chief Instructor is, to withstand the wrath of the Military Region!”

Lei Zhan’s footsteps paused.

He said coldly without turning his head:

“Until I confirm your identity, you’d best not leave my sight.”

With that, he walked directly to Tan Xiaolin’s backpack, which was thrown aside, unzipped it, and pulled out a sealed document bag from inside.

On the document bag, the bright red seal of the Southeast Military Region Headquarters was dazzling.

Lei Zhan took the document bag, quickly returned to Qin Qian’s side, and handed it over with both hands.

“Sir, the letter of appointment.”

Qin Qian took it, unhurriedly tore open the seal, and pulled out the document inside.

【Appointment: Comrade Tan Xiaolin, rank Major, to serve as the Instructor for the Fire Phoenix Female Special Forces training…】

Qin Qian casually glanced at it.

“Sir!”

Lei Zhan’s voice sounded from the side, with a hint of probing.

“She demands that we apologize, otherwise, she will report it to the Military Region.”

Qin Qian casually folded the letter of appointment, handed it back to Lei Zhan, and said indifferently:

“Apologize?”

He stood up and patted the dust off his pants.

“Tell her that in my training base, there is no Instructor, only trainees, only rookies.”

“As for the Military Region…”

Qin Qian chuckled, a hint of disdain in his eyes.

“Let them come find me.”

With that, he waved to Team Zhao, who was not far away.

“Lei Zhan, take Team Zhao and me to meet this… Instructor Tan.”

Lei Zhan’s heart pounded.

This new Chief Instructor was simply too arrogant!

But he didn’t ask further, only lowered his head and responded:

“Yes!”

When Qin Qian, accompanied by Team Zhao and Lei Zhan, reappeared by the mud pit, Tan Xiaolin’s gaze shot straight over.

She first looked at Lei Zhan, then her eyes fell on Qin Qian, who was leading them.

Who was this young man?

He looked to be only in his early twenties, yet Lei Zhan was following closely behind him.

“Who are you?”

Tan Xiaolin asked coldly.

Qin Qian, with his hands in his pockets, observed her with interest and said:

“The Fire Phoenix training is temporarily under my supervision. You can call me, Chief Instructor Qin.”

“Chief Instructor?”

Tan Xiaolin frowned.

“I haven’t received any notification about you.”

“My appointment does not require notification to you.”

Qin Qian’s tone was flat. He took the letter of appointment from Lei Zhan’s hand and waved it in front of Tan Xiaolin.

Then, under Tan Xiaolin’s shocked gaze, he flicked his wrist.

“Smack!”

That letter of appointment, representing her identity and authority, was casually tossed into the mud pit by Qin Qian, instantly swallowed by the filthy mud.
