Chapter 4: Double maze, giant slime!

“I've explored most of this labyrinth layer. Is there anywhere I don't know about?” Li Tian arrived at an open space, knelt down, and touched the ground with his hand to activate Terrain Survey.

Mana rapidly spread out from Li Tian.

“It seems there’s still space a few hundred meters below.” Li Tian was a little surprised; this was actually a double-layered labyrinth, truly a rare sight in a hundred years.

Li Tian took a stance, wound up his right fist, and then slammed it hard into the ground.

With a loud “rumble,” the ground shattered, and after breaking through, Li Tian fell straight down.

“I’m not as incompetent as the original body.” As Li Tian fell, he spread his wings, looking down at the environment of the new labyrinth layer.

Compared to the previous layer, this one was brighter, wider, hotter, and more dangerous.

Just then, a sharp iron needle shot out from behind Li Tian, aiming straight for the back of his head.

Li Tian tilted his head, dodging the attack, then grabbed the long, iron-tipped tail.

Looking back, he saw a strange and terrifying monster: it had no eyes, brown skin covered in bumps, no hands or feet, only a spherical body, two pairs of thin membrane wings, a mouth full of sharp teeth, and at the very bottom of its spherical body was a tail over ten meters long.

Behind the monster, a group of its kind emerged, emitting sharp, piercing sound waves at Li Tian.

However, Li Tian bared his teeth in a grin, revealing his stark white fangs.

“New ingredients!” he exclaimed.

As he spoke, Li Tian’s smile grew increasingly deranged, and the monster’s expressionless face seemed to show panic and unease.

...

Li Tian walked along, chewing on a pair of wings and dragging a small, adorable creature by its tail.

“It seems there are still many new ingredients waiting for me to taste on this layer,” Li Tian thought, licking his lips.

Thus, in the following days, a terrifying rumor spread among the monsters in the labyrinth: a humanoid monster was rampaging through, and its methods were even more brutal—some were eaten head-first, some had their limbs devoured, some had their internal organs consumed, and some didn't even leave bones behind!

Of course, Li Tian was also growing stronger and stronger; the sheer murderous aura he unconsciously emitted was enough to make many monsters tremble in fear, daring not to resist.

On this day, Li Tian sat on the corpse of a black bear, gnawing on a bear paw.

He saw a large, fiery humanoid beastman, wreathed in flames, charging at him with an inferno axe.

Li Tian smiled, “Looks like a new type of beastman.”

Just as he was about to make his move, a sticky, tentacle-like object emerged from a fork in the path and wrapped around the beastman, pulling him away.

Li Tian was startled at first, then he grinned wickedly, “How dare you steal my food right under my nose? Watch me devour you both!”

He leaped to the fork in the path, but the beastman and the tentacle were already gone.

So, Li Tian activated a wide-range scan and discovered two life forms at the end of the dark passage: one had extremely abundant mana, while the other's vital signs were slowly fading.

Li Tian didn't hesitate; he stood in place, raised both hands, and aimed forward.

A colossal red magic circle appeared and began to spin.

“Inferno Strike!” As his voice fell, waves of heat warped the very space, and a gigantic pillar of fire, like a soaring dragon, shot forth towards the distance.

Everything around it was reduced to ashes by the flames, and the entire tunnel was illuminated.

At that moment, in the damp cave at the end of the tunnel, a colossal monster saw a ball of flame hurtling towards it.

It quickly detached a part of its body, shooting it out like a wave of water, and stalemated with the flames, actually managing to block the attack head-on.

Li Tian, with his farsight activated, was extremely excited by what he saw.

“Looks like a very strong new food,” he mused.

Li Tian crouched slightly, powerful muscles bulging in his legs.

With a forceful push, he shot forward.

The monster sensed a creature approaching, so as Li Tian arrived, it directly lashed out with two large tentacles.

Seeing this, Li Tian dodged to the side, and the tentacles slammed heavily onto the ground, shattering it.

Li Tian looked up at the monster's appearance and was startled.

“It's actually a giant Slime (S)!”

A massive, three-story-tall green slime writhed like jelly.

The beastman inside its body had already been digested down to only its upper half, but it was still struggling to escape.

“This beastman has quite the tenacious life force!

Hey, you big oaf, you stole my food, what do you have to say for yourself?!” Li Tian shouted, pointing at the slime.

The giant slime stared at Li Tian with its two piercing, large eyeballs, then countless green magic bullets shot out from its body.

Li Tian activated several defensive spells to block them.

At this point, the ground and walls were riddled with holes, and several of Li Tian's spells were shattered.

Li Tian laughed, “I didn’t expect your projectiles to be quite hard!”

Seeing this, the slime spat out another puddle of green liquid.

Li Tian retreated, but his arm accidentally touched a bit, and instantly, a large patch of his skin was corroded.

“Interesting,” Li Tian said indifferently, showing his hand to the slime.

The corroded area was healing at a visible rate.

Even the brainless slime was surprised.

At this moment, Li Tian secretly wrapped a giant rock with his tail, then forcefully flung it into the slime's body, and in a short while, it turned into dust.

“It seems that beastman's body strength wasn't bad either.” With that, Li Tian's hands transformed into scythe blades, and he shot out like lightning.

The scythe blades sliced through the slime's body, but caused no substantial damage; instead, Li Tian's hands were being corroded.

“It seems ordinary physical damage can’t harm it.” Looking at the slime shaking its body with a greater amplitude, as if mocking Li Tian, Li Tian’s mouth curved upwards.

Then, countless magic circles appeared out of thin air, surrounding the slime.

“Try this multi-spell bombardment!”

Countless attacks landed on the giant slime, and it finally burst under the overwhelming pressure, splattering many jelly-like pieces everywhere, leaving only a beastman's head still squirming on the ground.

“It’s not dead yet?” Li Tian, slightly surprised, grabbed the beastman’s head.

Just as his face was aligned with the head, the beastman opened its mouth wide and quickly spat out a ball of fire, engulfing Li Tian’s head.

As the beastman reveled in its triumph, it suddenly felt the hand gripping it tighten, and then it saw a pair of cold, glowing eyes in the flames staring icily at it.

“Interesting.” Li Tian’s skin turned bronze, and his entire body became as hard as rock.

After returning to his original state, he said to the beastman, “Although only your head is left, it’s still acceptable.” In the beastman’s terrified gaze, Li Tian opened his gaping maw and swallowed the entire head whole.

Li Tian wiped his mouth, and suddenly! His eyes sharpened, and he spun around to look behind him.

What greeted his eyes was a massive green fist striking him.

Li Tian, completely unprepared, was sent flying, crashing out of the cave.

Blood trickled from Li Tian’s mouth as he knelt, looking back into the cave.

Inside the cave, scattered jelly-like pieces rapidly converged towards the giant hand, growing larger and larger, until finally, they coalesced into a slime giant, completely green and transparent, its two large eyes fixed on Li Tian.

Li Tian licked the blood from the corner of his mouth and chuckled, “Looks like you’re quite tenacious too.”
