The day of rest quickly ended, and the date arrived at December 30th. As soon as the sky outside was barely lit, someone had already packed their luggage and was ready to depart. This person was Yi Xing, who hadn't slept all night.
Because he had just returned from abroad, he hadn't adapted to the time difference in China, which caused him to be incredibly awake when he should be sleeping and unusually sleepy when he should be awake. He slept for a full twelve hours, from nine in the morning until nine at night.
The first thing he did after waking up was check flights to Xing City. He bought the earliest flight, knowing he wouldn't be able to sleep again anytime soon. He figured it was better to go to Xing City early, connect with the director's team, have them take him to the arranged hotel, and understand the specific arrangements.
Pushing his suitcase, he hailed a car and headed towards the airport. Two hours later, he successfully arrived in Xing City. He picked up his checked luggage and walked out of the arrival gate. As soon as he looked up, he saw someone holding a sign with his name.
He didn't expect that the first person to pick him up as an artist wouldn't be his fans, but rather a staff member. He gave a wry smile and quickly walked over, taking off his sunglasses.
The staff member saw him, broke into a warm smile, put down the sign, and came forward, "Hello, Teacher Yi Xing! You must be tired from your journey. Please give me your suitcase."
"Hello." Yi Xing handed over his luggage and followed the staff member to the parking lot, stopping in front of a black commercial vehicle.
The staff member placed the suitcase in the trunk and said to the person who had gotten into the car, "Teacher Yi Xing, I still need to pick up one more person. Please wait a moment."
"Alright, you go ahead."
"Okay." He left the parking lot with another sign.
Yi Xing, alone in the car, was a bit bored. He took out his phone from his pocket and looked at the chat history of the divas hit the road group. Liu Tao had tagged him, asking where he was.
Because, except for him, everyone else had already arrived at the hotel. They could only go to the live rehearsal once everyone had arrived; otherwise, they would just have to wait in their rooms.
【Liu Tao: Xiao Xing, where are you now? How much longer?】
【Xu Qing: He's probably still on the plane, hasn't replied to messages.】
【Yi Xing: Just got off the plane, on my way now, it'll still be a little while.】
After replying to the message, he scrolled up through the chat history and saw that Li Feier had arrived two days ago. He then understood why she had messaged him that day; she was too bored alone in the hotel and wanted to find someone to go out and play with.
Just as he was intently playing on his phone, the car door was suddenly opened, and a boy about his height entered from outside. He looked up and found him somewhat familiar but couldn't recall his name.
So, he nodded slightly and offered a friendly smile.
The other person returned a smile, sat down next to him, and extended his hand in greeting, "Hello, I'm Wei Daxun."
Hearing that name, Yi Xing immediately remembered where he had seen him before. He had watched a variety show called Who's the Murderer, and Wei Daxun had appeared in a few episodes. He shook the hand extended in the air and also gave a brief self-introduction.
"Hello, I'm Yi Xing."
After a brief self-introduction, the atmosphere in the air became much more awkward. The two didn't know each other well and couldn't find any common topics, so they each turned their heads to look out the window at the scenery.
If there had been a familiar person in between them, it would have been much better, not as it was now. Time passed by second by second, and the car slowly stopped. The hotel was right next to them.
Yi Xing quickly opened the door and got out. He picked up his luggage and said to Wei Daxun next to him, "I'm going in first. See you later."
"Okay."
The staff member who picked him up got out of the passenger seat, jogged over to him, whispered the room number in his ear, handed him the room card, and then left, as he still had to give out other room cards.
To save trouble, the concert production team arranged the entire Hua Shao Group on the same floor. This made it convenient to notify them for rehearsals—just knock on each door. While the manual method was clumsy, it was very effective, as not everyone constantly checks their phones.
Yi Xing found his room number, swiped open the door, and put his suitcase inside. He didn't have time to unpack now; he needed to go rehearse with the sisters early. He walked out while sending messages in the group.
【Yi Xing: I'm at the hotel. When are we leaving?】
Not long after sending it, he immediately received a reply.
【Zhang Han: Have you put your things away? If so, we can leave anytime.】
【Yi Xing: They're put away. I'm in the hallway now.】
The sound of a door opening came from behind him. He turned his head to look, and one person after another emerged from inside. Well, before he arrived, these six people had already gathered together.
"Wow, so you were all together."
"Yes, we were all just waiting for you. Look how important you are." Zhang Han gave him a hug, then subtly nudged him with his elbow.
"Don't tease me. Shouldn't we be heading to the venue?"
"Yes, let's go."
Everyone chatted and laughed as they walked to the elevator, quickly reaching the first floor. A car was parked at the main entrance, ready to take them to the venue, and they all got in.
"Sisters, have you memorized your lyrics?"
Yi Xing asked softly. He had certainly memorized his firmly. There was no need to worry about Zhang Han; after all, he was someone who had released songs, so memorizing lyrics should be a small matter.
Live performance and singing in a recording studio are two completely different concepts. In a recording studio, there are lyric sheets to read from. Although live performances have teleprompters, you can't stare at them the whole time; you also have to interact with the audience.
"Memorized."
"Of course, I'm a professional at memorizing lyrics."
The sisters spoke one after another, their voices mixing together so it was impossible to hear exactly what they were saying. Judging by their confident expressions, it seemed there shouldn't be any problems.
Upon arriving at the rehearsal venue, everyone got out of the car in sequence. A group of girls was already performing on stage, wearing matching outfits. If you didn't look closely at their faces, you couldn't tell who was who. They were members of SNH48, and Ju Jingyi was among them.
The sharp-eyed Yi Xing immediately spotted her standing in the center, but he didn't go up to greet her. He followed his team backstage. He hadn't yet figured out how to explain his presence there if he ran into her.
Backstage, he shifted his attention to the rehearsal. There was no point in overthinking things before he actually met her. He should first focus on how to present the stage well; the rest could be dealt with later.
