Chapter 3: master

Li Weidong said to the Little Elf, "You plant here first; I'll go out now."

The Little Elf nodded obediently, hugged the potatoes and sweet potatoes, and began to get busy.

Li Weidong then left the space and returned to his room.

Li Weidong felt that he had nothing to do now, so he decided to visit his master, Li Laoliu.

As he stepped out of his courtyard gate, he saw Li Weihong playing with several children of her age in the distance.

He smiled and said loudly, "Little sister, I'm going to Master's house; you play here." Li Weihong heard her brother call her and quickly looked up.

Li Weihong quickly ran over to Li Weidong, looked at him, and said, "Brother, are you okay?" Li Weidong smiled and said, "I'm fine; you play here." Seeing that her brother was really fine, Li Weihong said, "Okay, then take it slow on your way."

Li Weidong patted Li Weihong's head, turned, and continued walking towards his master's house.

Li Weidong's house and his master Li Laoliu's house were both located on the west side of the village, near the mountain, about 100 meters apart.

In less than two minutes, Li Weidong arrived outside his master's house and saw his master Li Laoliu processing the wild pheasant he had caught yesterday in the courtyard.

"Master," Li Weidong called out, walking into the courtyard.

Li Laoliu looked up at him and smiled, "Li Weidong, you're here. How are you now? Does your head still hurt?"

Li Weidong touched his head and said, "Master, it doesn't hurt anymore; it's nothing serious."

Li Laoliu put down the wild pheasant in his hand, stood up, patted Li Weidong's shoulder, and looked him up and down: "It's good that it doesn't hurt. Master was worried about you, kid. You accidentally fell yesterday, and it really scared Master."

Li Weidong smiled sheepishly: "I made Master worry. My body is tough; I'm not that delicate."

Li Laoliu pointed to a stool nearby: "Come, sit down and chat with Master for a while." Li Weidong sat down as instructed, watching his master skillfully process the wild pheasant.

"Li Weidong, in Master's opinion, your fall this time wasn't entirely a bad thing; it also serves as a lesson for you. Hunters must always pay attention to their footing in the mountains, especially when facing wild beasts," Li Laoliu said earnestly.

Li Weidong nodded seriously: "Master, I remember. I will be more careful in the future."

Li Laoliu patted his shoulder: "Mm, good to know. Hunting is different from other things; a slight oversight can cost you your life. This time you just fell; you were lucky."

Li Weidong's gaze was firm: "Master, I understand the seriousness of it. I won't make such a mistake again and worry you."

Seeing Li Weidong say this, Li Laoliu said nothing more.

In less than two minutes, the wild pheasant in Li Laoliu's hand was cleaned.

He picked up the wild pheasant and handed it to Li Weidong, saying, "Take it. I was going to go see you, kid, but since you're fine, your mistress and I don't have to make the trip."

Li Weidong quickly waved his hand: "Master, you're so busy, yet you still think of me; I feel bad about it."

Li Laoliu smiled: "Silly child, what are you talking about! You're my apprentice; it's only right for Master to care about you."

Li Weidong quickly waved his hand: "Master, I can't take it; you and Mistress should keep it to eat."

Li Laoliu smiled: "Silly child, what are you saying? You are my apprentice; if Master gives it to you, just take it."

At this moment, Mistress Liu Jing also came out of the house, saw Li Weidong, and said, "Li Weidong, if your master gives it to you, just take it."

Li Weidong scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed: "Mistress, how can I accept this?"

Liu Jing walked forward and put the wild pheasant into Li Weidong's arms: "Li Weidong, your master and I treat you as our own family, so don't be polite with us."

Li Weidong said emotionally: "Thank you, Master, thank you, Mistress."

Li Laoliu waved his hand: "Alright, alright, no need for formalities. Is there anything you came for today?"

Hearing his master ask this, Li Weidong quickly said, "Master, you often go into the mountains; do you have ginseng seeds or other medicinal herb seeds at home?"

Li Laoliu frowned, looking at him confused: "Why do you want these seeds? Especially ginseng seeds, they are not easy to get."

Li Weidong scratched his head: "Master, I just want to try planting them; maybe I can grow them."

Li Laoliu snorted softly: "You, kid, your ideas are quite naive. Ginseng is not that easy to grow; it has very strict requirements for its growing environment. But, seeing you so interested, I'll go look; come in with me." Saying that, he led Li Weidong into the house.

Li Laoliu led Li Weidong into a small room inside the house, which was filled with various hunting and herb-gathering tools, as well as some bottles and jars.

Li Weidong waited expectantly at the side, his eyes fixed on Li Laoliu's movements.

After a long while, Li Laoliu came over with several small cloth bags and said, "I only found some Angelica sinensis and Gastrodia elata seeds; there are only three ginseng seeds. Take them back and try them first, but don't hold too much hope."

Li Weidong excitedly took the cloth bags: "Thank you, Master. No matter what, I will try."

Li Laoliu shook his head helplessly: "Alright, then you can mess around with them. Remember to ask me if you don't understand anything."

Li Weidong carried the wild pheasant given by his master and, after bidding farewell to his master and mistress, took the medicinal herb seeds and went home.

When he arrived at his doorstep, he didn't see Li Weihong.

He muttered to himself, "Where did that little girl run off to play?"

Li Weidong walked into the courtyard, put the wild pheasant in the kitchen, returned to his room, and then flashed into the space. As soon as he entered, the Little Elf flew over.

"Master, you're finally here; I was so bored," the Little Elf said cheerfully.

Li Weidong smiled and said, "Didn't I come? I also brought some medicinal herb seeds; let's find a place to plant them."

The Little Elf blinked: "Okay, okay, Master, I know where the soil is most fertile."

Saying that, the Little Elf led the way, and Li Weidong followed behind. Soon, they arrived at a plot of land not far from the spiritual spring.

Li Weidong looked at the land in front of him and nodded with satisfaction: "This place indeed looks good."

The Little Elf smiled and said, "Of course, with the nourishment of the spiritual spring, anything planted will grow well."

Li Weidong handed the Angelica sinensis, Gastrodia elata, and three ginseng seeds to the Little Elf, saying, "These are Angelica sinensis, Gastrodia elata, and three ginseng seeds. Can you try to grow all of them? Especially those three ginseng seeds."

The Elf took the seeds and confidently replied, "Master, don't worry. With the nourishment of the spiritual spring, these seeds can grow very quickly."

Li Weidong listened, nodded reassuringly: "Alright, then I'll wait to see the results." After saying that, Li Weidong left the space.
