Chapter 10: Camille Schiffany

Chapter 10 Camille Siffeni

My name is Camille Siffeni, 22 years old.

I live in the Bremley area of Fog City and am unmarried.

I am a sophomore at Westminster University in Fog City, majoring in psychology. I have to study at the school library until 8 PM every day before I can go home, because I need to avoid my jealous cousin and my exceptionally cruel aunt.

I don't wear makeup, I don't gossip, and I don't date.

I go to bed at 11 PM and need to sleep for 8 hours every day. Before bed, I always do eye exercises because I always feel like there's something wrong with my eyes, always seeing inexplicable things.

Once in bed, I can fall asleep immediately. I sleep until dawn, never carrying fatigue and stress over to the next day.

Friends... I don't have any friends, I think I'm very normal.

As if!

Camille discovered her extraordinary talent when she was fourteen; she could always read others' emotions or thoughts, and her eyes could always see strange things.

She never told anyone about these things; they were her secret.

Camille's parents passed away due to an accident when she was ten, so she had no choice but to live with her uncle. Her uncle was a rather cold person; he only covered part of Camille's living expenses and tuition, never showing much concern for his niece.

Camille's aunt, on the other hand, was a malicious woman; she always thought Camille was freeloading at her house. She never mentioned that she had taken Camille's parents' inheritance, and at home, her aunt treated Camille like a maid. And Camille's cousin was truly her aunt's biological daughter; she perfectly inherited her mother's sharp tongue and meanness.

However, even with all these debuffs stacked against her, she still managed to get into Westminster University and receive a full scholarship through her own efforts.

Life was calm for Camille after she started university, and her aunt and cousin's bullying also subsided somewhat after she went to university.

Only one thing bothered Camille during her university years, and it wasn't a confession of love, but something a female professor named Phoenix said to her.

"It's a pity, you're just a Muggles without a bloodline."

Professor Phoenix was the first person whose mind she failed to observe. At the time, she mustered up the courage to ask Professor Phoenix if she knew about the things happening to her, and the professor sighed and replied:

"You possess a talent called 'Telepathy', but it's a pity you're a Muggles."

"Muggles?"

"Nothing, go to class."

Even without Telepathy, Camille could feel the sense of rejection from Professor Phoenix, so she didn't dare to ask any more questions. After this incident, Professor Phoenix also had no further interaction with her, as if they were naturally not in the same circle.

And today, on the Red Moon Night of February 9th, terra calendar 1589, the second unforgettable thing happened to Camille, and it was something that would change her life.

Just as Camille was finishing her usual nightly routine, preparing to read a book before bed.

She found her window open, and an owl stood proudly on the windowsill. She wondered if it was her imagination, but she felt that the owl's gaze towards her was full of arrogance.

The owl was holding a letter in its mouth, and Camille was momentarily confused about the situation.

The person and the owl stared blankly at each other for a minute.

Finally, the owl showed an expression of 'hopelessness', and it directly flung the envelope in its mouth onto Camille's face. A bewildered Camille took the letter off her face.

She curiously opened the envelope, and on the letter was a sentence written in Terra text:

Are you Desire for knowledge?

Just as Camille was bewildered, the words on the envelope began to change automatically.

Yes, you Desire!

What the hell!?

The envelope suddenly spontaneously combusted, scaring Camille into pulling her hand back. The scattered Mars constructed a circular magic circle on the ground, and then an illusory portal rose from the magic circle. The portal was engraved with an inverted tree composed of ten "circles" and 22 "paths."

Camille stared dumbfounded at this extraordinary scene.

As she stood there at a loss, the door opened, and the owl, she didn't know when, had flown behind her.

Why do I have a bad feeling?

Her premonition was correct. As she stood there in a daze, the annoying owl behind her directly headbutted her lower back, causing her to stumble and fall directly into the portal.

After Camille entered, the owl then flapped its wings, following her in with a waddle.

When Camille opened her eyes, she saw this dreamlike scene.

A unique fine rain was falling from the sky, and the streets were filled with strange light pollution and noisy clamor.

Where is this?

Am I dreaming?

Camille was stunned by this peculiar sight. As Camille stood there in a daze, she saw a portal appear out of thin air in the square ahead. This portal was identical to the one she had seen before.

Camille saw someone walk out of it, and she was so scared that she immediately hid in a nearby bush. At the same time, she reached out and pressed down on the owl perched on her head, firmly covering its beak.

The owl, whose beak was covered, looked at Camille for a long time with an expression reserved for people with special needs, while Camille stealthily observed the person coming out of the portal, and at the same time activated her talent to quietly probe the other party. She wanted to know the other party's information.

Camille easily delved deep into the other person's mind. Just as she was about to read the other person's thoughts, a piercing roar suddenly erupted, and her mind felt as if it had been struck by a heavy hammer.

She couldn't help but let out a wail.

It's over, I've been... discovered, the other party has been... attracted by my voice, it's going to be over.

"Madam, it's a big taboo to casually use mind-probing Arcane Master on other Arcane Master."

Contrary to her imagination, a gentle voice entered Camille's ear. The other party seemed to have noticed her embarrassment, so he deliberately spoke with a playful trailing tone.

Camille looked up, a little dazed, her loose glasses sliding down to rest on both sides of her nose. She stared with slightly parted lips at the hand extended towards her.

At this moment, the rain had just stopped, and a brilliant aurora appeared in the sky.

Standing before her was a fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy. The boy had a pair of brilliant yet gentle golden eyes, and he was very handsome, the kind that leaves a deep impression after just one look.

Camille dazedly grasped the hand extended towards her, and then was helped up by the other party. Her height was 1.68 meters, and the boy was a little taller than her.

Boys at this age should still grow taller. Camille thought to herself.

"Madam, Madam, are you alright?" The concerned voice sounded in her ear again, and Camille didn't know why she started to panic.

"I, I, I'm fine, haha, I'm fine."

"Is that so? Your face looks a little too flushed."

"It's nothing, really."

"Is that so? Then may I let go of my hand, Madam?"

"Ah, ah, I'm sorry... I'm sorry."

"Relax, Madam."

"Ah... Mm."

Camille felt a bit embarrassed.
