Chapter 19: The Power of the Divine Arm Crossbow

Whoosh!

By the side of a rapidly flowing mountain stream, several bonfires blazed.

A rather tall alien, with a two-meter-long spiked club resting beside him, held a fresh, bleeding bull's head with a pair of horns. After gnawing on it, he tossed it at his feet.

“Orc, orc…”

Several other aliens, seemingly of the same species but smaller than normal humans, sat around him, dressed in mud-stained gray armor and wielding rusty knives. They immediately scrambled to snatch the bull's head, extending their barbed tongues to lick the remaining scraps of meat and blood.

Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the bull's head had a relatively flat face, and apart from the pair of horns, it was more human-like. It was clearly a hapless Minotaur from some shattered world, killed by these aliens and now serving as their dinner.

“Orc, orc (Don’t snatch it, this is a reward from the chief!)”

“Orc, orc (Chief, the Minotaur’s meat is too tough and not very tasty. Why don’t we eat those hairless monkeys in the cave first?)”

“Orc, orc (There’s an expert among the hairless monkeys in the cave, whose strength is not inferior to mine. A direct assault isn’t worth it. But there’s no food inside, so as soon as they get too hungry to hold on, they’ll rush out on their own. Then it’ll be easy to kill them for meat.)”

“Orc, orc (Kill hairless monkeys, eat meat, eat meat)!”

After finishing their meal, these aliens began to communicate in their native language, their voices filled with excitement.

The sun had already set, and there was no moon. A hazy mist quickly rose over the area near the water in the mountain stream!

【Half-Orc (White)】

【Level】 Fourth-tier

【Physique】 0.8

【Soul】 0.5

【Description】 Half-orcs from a certain world. Their physiques have degenerated due to long-term life in dark underground environments, and they strongly dislike sunlight!

“Hmm, so only the chief with the spiked club is a seventh-tier blue name, and the rest of the aliens are only fourth-tier creatures? That’s easier to deal with than I imagined!”

On a cliff by the mountain stream, Xia Tian’s voice emerged from a cloud of mist.

He held the Mist Concealing Orb in his hand, and wisps of white mist emanated from it, swirling around everyone without dispersing, enveloping them and blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment.

The effect of this wondrous item was excellent, capable of concealing both form and sound, so much so that despite being only a few dozen meters from the group of half-orcs, the latter remained completely unaware.

“It’s just that there are quite a few of them. If they all swarm us at once, it might cause some trouble.”

Xia Tian roughly counted the number of half-orcs, totaling over fifty.

Moreover, each of them wore armor and carried weapons. Although they all appeared to be tattered, rusty “tetanus blades,” they could at least boost their combat power significantly!

By the way, is “tetanus” considered an injury or a poisoning?

“Aim at the enemies around the bonfire. Let’s kill a few first.”

Since the enemy’s individual strength wouldn’t pose too much of a threat to his side, Xia Tian didn’t bother with too many tactical considerations. He raised the golden-quality Divine Arm Crossbow in his hand, his gaze locking onto a half-orc through the “sight” (aiming device) above the crossbow body!

Buzz.

A bowstring twanged like thunder, and the golden-quality “Tiger Tooth Arrow” instantly traversed dozens of meters through the air, fiercely striking the head of the half-orc who was licking the bull’s head.

Pfft… The tattered helmet on the latter’s head was instantly shattered, and the skull beneath the helmet was also blown apart.

The arrow’s power didn’t stop there; after piercing the first half-orc’s forehead, it continued to fly, hitting the throat of a second half-orc. After penetrating through, it carried a spray of blood into the mud, leaving only a section of its fletching visible.

Two half-orcs fell almost simultaneously!

Pfft, pfft, pfft… And it wasn’t just Xia Tian; the Divine Arm Crossbows in the hands of the other four soldiers also fired arrows. Except for one that missed due to unfamiliar operation, the other three accurately hit their targets, all piercing through armor and killing with a single blow.

This was not surprising. As the pinnacle of individual crossbows, historical records show that the Divine Arm Crossbow could retain its armor-piercing capability even at a range of two hundred meters, let alone the mere dozens of meters now.

“Orc, orc (Enemies, battle)!”

However, the half-orcs reacted very quickly after being attacked, immediately extinguishing the bonfires with water.

Then, they pinpointed the direction of the attack from the landing points and angles of the crossbow bolts on their comrades, and under the cover of darkness, quickly surrounded Xia Tian and his group.

“Light!”

Xia Tian softly uttered a single word on the cliff.

Then he opened his palm, and a white jade bottle detached from his hand, floating in the air. The golden light flowing on it brightened, spreading outwards like ripples, instantly illuminating the surroundings as if it were daytime, revealing everything.

One by one, half-orcs who had only made it halfway were stunned to find themselves illuminated by a “small sun,” followed immediately by a crossbow bolt flying towards them.

“Hmm, there’s a commotion outside!”

Inside the cave, the man holding an Embroidered Spring Blade, who had been resting with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them, his expression extremely solemn. Could it be that the monsters outside were planning a full assault on the cave during the night?

No, it didn’t sound like the monsters attacking, but rather screams?

“Screams? How could those monsters be screaming?!”

The Embroidered Spring Blade man couldn’t help but press his eye against a crack in the stone blocking the cave entrance, looking outside.

He just happened to see a figure on the cliff by the mountain stream, shrouded in ethereal mist, who with a gentle raise of his hand, created a “sun” that illuminated the entire mountain stream!

“Is that… an immortal?”

The Embroidered Spring Blade man’s heart trembled.

Xia Tian didn’t know that he had once again created the persona of a “deity.” What he cared about was the effect of this move on the half-orcs.

For these half-orcs, accustomed to darkness, the sudden appearance of sunlight was clearly fatal. Not only did it stimulate their vision, making them unable to adapt for a time, but it also exposed their positions, causing them to be shot down by crossbow bolts fired from the Divine Arm Crossbows!

“Orc, orc…”

However, even though many of their comrades had died, these half-orcs still showed no intention of retreating. Instead, under the angry roar and command of the tall half-orc chief, they fearlessly approached the cliff.

It must be said that the power of the golden Divine Arm Crossbow was astonishing. Its only drawback was probably its slow firing speed; including cocking and aiming, it took about ten seconds to fire a round.

Therefore, after only four or five shots, some half-orcs had already climbed and rushed to the edge of the cliff where they were located.

“Roar…”

However, before this half-orc could fully climb onto the cliff, a figure appeared. The ox, twice its size, appeared, and with a swing of his blade like chopping wood or dicing vegetables, he severed the head of this half-orc soldier along with its armor.

Several soldiers from the Vanguard Camp, clad in soft hedgehog armor, spread out with cold expressions, killing the half-orcs attempting to climb the cliff, providing cover for the soldiers with Divine Arm Crossbows to continue their output.

The blue-quality plain blades, combined with the powerful physiques of all six-tier soldiers, were completely overwhelming against these fourth-tier half-orcs dressed in tattered gray-white quality gear, both in terms of strength and equipment.

Only the single tall half-orc chief, whose level reached “seventh-tier” under the “Eye of Insight” and was a blue name, could not be stopped by the combined strength of the ox and others, so they deliberately allowed it to come up.

Roar!

After rushing onto the cliff, the latter angrily swung his two-meter-long spiked club, bringing down a force capable of shattering rocks towards several ranged attackers, including Xia Tian!

Clang, a flash of blade light.

Wu Song stood in front of Xia Tian, raising his golden-quality Thousand-Forged Tiger Head Blade to intercept the spiked club.

“Be careful, its strength is immense, don’t clash head-on.”

The Embroidered Spring Blade man couldn’t help but shout.

The half-orc chief, whose physique was larger than that of ordinary humans, possessed astonishing strength. Earlier, during an exchange, he had injured one hand by clashing head-on with it, and even the exquisite Embroidered Spring Blade he held, crafted for a Centurion within the Imperial Guards, had chipped as a result.

Now, the black-haired man, like him, was using a light weapon like a saber to clash head-on with the heavy spiked club, which would undoubtedly lead him to the same fate.

It might even be worse, as the black-haired man was holding the saber with only one hand, striking upwards to meet the blow.

The next moment, the Embroidered Spring Blade man’s expression changed from urgency to astonishment.

Bang!

Because, when the spiked club and the saber collided, the scene he imagined—the saber being broken by the spiked club—did not occur. Instead, the two-meter-long spiked club was cut into two pieces by the tall black-haired man’s single strike.

Then, the black-haired man delivered a flying kick to the chest of the tall monster chief, who had no time to defend.

Boom!

The half-orc chief’s armor instantly twisted, and even its entire chest violently caved in. Its body flew out, almost spanning the entire mountain stream.

Coincidentally, it landed precisely on the sharp horn of the Minotaur it had just eaten, which pierced its heart, resulting in a tragic death.

I’m late again, sorry. I’ll try to post on time next time.
