Chapter 422: Upholding Justice
“Your Highness, give me a child, please…”
The young man looked at her pleadingly, his eyes filled with unrestrained desire.
Sang Luo clearly felt his intense longing, her heart pounding wildly. She took a deep breath and smiled reassuringly, “Okay!”
The young man’s eyes lit up with joy, but the next moment, as he lowered his guard and leaned close to the delicate woman in his arms, Sang Luo swiftly delivered a chop to the back of his neck. The young man groaned, his already weakened body from illness slumped into unconsciousness.
Sang Luo quickly wrapped her arms around the young man’s waist, supporting most of his weight so he wouldn't fall to the ground. She thought with relief: Good thing she learned some self-defense skills from Lan Cang when she was bored. When her innate abilities are useless, the most primitive methods are still the simplest and most effective.
She helped the young man onto the bed and covered him with a blanket.
His face was still flushed and burning hot, looking like the fever was getting worse.
Sang Luo sat by the bed, gently holding his hand, her emotions a complex mix that even she couldn't decipher.
Soon, a knock sounded, and the witch doctor from the mansion came to examine Yun Qi’s illness. Initially, it was just a common cold, which was nothing much for a male beastman. He could recover on his own without medicine. However, this Consort had somehow severely chilled his body, and the damp cold had transformed into a more serious case of arthralgia.
The witch doctor prescribed some medicine and carefully instructed that the patient take it on time, attentively caring for the patient’s physical and mental well-being, emphasizing that he absolutely could not catch another cold in the coming days.
After Sang Luo saw the witch doctor off, she called Kong over, “What did your master do last night?”
Kong stammered, “My master doesn’t like having people waiting on him hand and foot. Since his eyes recovered, I’ve had much less to do. I went to rest early last night, so I don’t know what my master did… But this morning when he came back from outside, he was soaking wet, his clothes dripping ice water onto the ground, as if… as if he had been soaking in the river all night…”
Sang Luo squeezed her eyes shut and then opened them, scolding in exasperation, “Stupid fox! Drama queen!”
This little fox really knows how to torment himself! He looks gentle, considerate, and sensible, but I didn't expect him to be a yandere who could be so ruthless to himself!
Kong hurriedly explained, “Please don’t blame my master, Your Highness. My master just misses you too much. These days that Your Highness hasn’t come, my master hasn’t been able to eat or drink properly. Yesterday, Attendant Yi Xing even came to mock my master, saying… saying many unpleasant things… My master was provoked, which is why he did these things…”
Sang Luo frowned, “Okay, I understand. Keep a close eye on him these days and don’t let him do such stupid things again.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
After Sang Luo left Plum Blossom Garden, she didn’t return to the main hall but went to the back courtyard, to Fragrance Pavilion where Yi Xing resided.
Yi Xing was delighted to hear that Yun Qi had fallen seriously ill last night, feeling a sense of satisfaction like a great revenge had been accomplished. But when he heard that the Princess had gone to Plum Blossom Garden to visit him this morning, he was so angry that he smashed many bottles and jars. He even accidentally broke a precious vase that Princess Ji Wan had bestowed upon him years ago.
Yi Xing panicked. He ordered people to clean up the shards on the ground, when he heard the voice of the servant outside announcing,
“Greetings, Your Highness!”
Yi Xing’s heart raced even faster. Just as he was about to go out to greet her, steady footsteps entered the room.
“Your… Your Highness, why have you come?” Yi Xing quickly walked to the screen, a hint of panic flashing in his smile, the corners of his mouth slightly forced.
Sang Luo glanced at him, a teasing smile on her face, “Oh? Does Attendant Yi Xing not wish for this princess to come?”
Yi Xing was extremely flustered, “Of course not! I spend my days alone, longing for the moon and stars, just waiting for Your Highness to come to my room. But Your Highness hasn’t come recently. I don’t know how much I miss you.”
“But I don’t see that you’re as happy as you say you are.”
Sang Luo’s gaze shifted behind him. Yi Xing’s face turned pale as he trembled, trying to hide something.
Sang Luo strode over and noticed the broken vase on the ground.
She remembered that this was a blue-and-white glazed vase that Ji Wan had given to Yi Xing, worth a thousand gold.
Princess Ji Wan had no real affection for these attendants. If someone pleased her, she would bestow some treasures.
Although they were called gifts, the treasures still belonged to the princess's mansion. They were only nominally given to the attendants to play with. If they were broken, the princess herself would take the opportunity to vent her anger.
There was once a bed slave who accidentally lost a bracelet she had given him. It was said that he secretly took it outside the mansion to sell it for money. When Princess Ji Wan found out, she had the bed slave beaten half to death and sold to the Qingfeng Brothel.
Yi Xing was very good at serving people in bed, and he had risen from a bed slave to an attendant. How could he not know this precedent? His face turned “唰” pale, his body swaying, almost falling to the ground, “Your Highness, I…”
Sang Luo played with her bright red nails, “It seems Yi Xing doesn’t like the things I give you.”
“No, that’s not it…” Yi Xing stammered in fear.
“Then are you looking down on the things in the princess’s mansion?” Sang Luo looked at him with a smile.
Yi Xing “扑通!” knelt on the ground.
“Your Highness, spare me! I just accidentally broke the vase! I didn’t do it on purpose!”
Sang Luo’s eyebrows furrowed, she waved her sleeve and coldly scolded, “A small attendant dares to break something bestowed by this princess, the crime is doubled.”
“Offending the Consort, the crime is tripled!”
“Guards, from today onwards, Yi Xing is stripped of his title as attendant and expelled from the princess’s mansion!”
Yi Xing collapsed on the ground, losing all his strength, like a stray dog being thrown out of the mansion, never to return.
…
Yun Qi woke up in the evening and heard the news.
Kong chattered beside him like a little parrot, saying that the Princess had personally helped him vent his anger!
The corners of Yun Qi’s lips curved into a smile, but he remembered what happened before he fainted… If she truly liked him, then why wouldn’t she give herself to him?
She knew all too well how much he wanted her.
Wanted her, to the point of madness.
Forcibly stopping his passion was more painful than killing him for a hot-blooded, just-turned-adult male.
Disheartened, “Your Highness is fickle and has dismissed attendants before. It’s not necessarily for my sake.”
“Who is secretly speaking ill of me?” Sang Luo lifted the curtain and walked in, a bright smile on her face, “How come I don’t know that I am a fickle person.”
Kong hurriedly bowed, both surprised and delighted, “Your Highness is here!”
Yun Qi was stunned, “Your Highness, aren’t you…”
“The witch doctor said you need to rest well, and I have to keep an eye on you. Besides, I promised to be with you tonight. I am not a person who breaks promises.” Sang Luo raised an eyebrow.
The two stared at each other, the temperature in the air becoming romantic.
Kong, with his cleverness, quietly withdrew.
Sang Luo ultimately followed her heart. She had to admit that she had been tethered by this mischievous little fox with a bit of true affection. As for other matters, she would wait until tonight to discuss them…
On the other side, Yun Rong waited for Sang Luo in the main hall for a long time, until evening, without seeing her again.
The princess only sent a servant to inform him that she had something to do today and couldn’t come, asking him to stay and rest in the mansion.
