Chapter 8: Clear the Village

In the dark of night.

Sniffing the putrid smell in the air, the two hid in the backyard of a stone house.

Aliris was hidden on the rooftop.

In the center of the yard, Karna, illuminated by moonlight, nodded to Aliris.

At this moment, he held the prince's sword in one hand, and a thick wooden board was tied to his left arm.

This wooden board was his makeshift shield.

He had successfully activated the effect of the 【Thunder Spear Guard Medal (Silver)】.

His current physique attribute was:

【Physique: 6】 + 1

Because his physique was indeed too weak, any slight improvement felt very obvious.

A ringing in his ears came.

Karna moved instantly, then stopped again.

This disconnected, sudden movement would transmit information, but the Giant Bat couldn't interpret it.

Neither the Ghoul nor the Giant Bat were very intelligent; one could even say they had no wisdom.

The small team that just used sound waves to scout would definitely come to investigate.

Sure enough.

He could already hear the sound of the Giant Bat flapping its wings; it was flying at a low altitude, just a little higher than the rooftops.

Two Ghouls were rapidly approaching.

Pressed against the wall.

One Ghoul stood right by the wall, half its body exposed, looking like it was scouting.

Sword light flashed.

A head flew high into the air.

This sword was indeed sharp.

Karna, having swung this sword, instantly lunged out, raising the broken wooden board and pressing it directly onto the other Ghoul, which was behind the first one.

Caught off guard, it was directly pressed to the ground.

The Giant Bat in mid-air shrieked and descended from the sky.

Before its talons could even land on Karna, a weight appeared on its back.

Its body instantly tilted, and before it could adjust or clearly see what was happening, a sword directly pierced its head.

Its body went limp, only muscle reflexes remaining.

The corpse crashed directly to the ground.

Before it even hit the ground, Aliris had already jumped off the corpse. She landed next to Karna from the air and pierced the struggling Ghoul's head with a sword.

This scouting team was dealt with in less than 10 seconds after arriving.

"We need to move quickly."

The commotion just now must have alerted others, as there was no heavy rain tonight.

Roars echoed from afar.

The two quickly changed positions.

As they passed through a house, Karna seemed to see something and casually picked up two forks and a dinner knife.

Just as they emerged from the other side, a Giant Bat had already discovered them and was giving chase.

The Giant Bat was about to shriek when Aliris below instantly turned, and with a throwing posture, she threw a piece of rubble she had picked up at some point.

The stone even made a whistling sound in the air as it heavily struck the Giant Bat's head.

It embedded directly into its skull.

Seeing this, Karna stopped directly.

"We're not leaving."

Aliris, after recovering, was more powerful than he had thought.

These weren't monsters from a game; they weren't Dataization. A hit to the head was an instant kill, not just a critical hit that depleted some health.

There were no health bars here for them to whittle down; every successful weak point attack brought a huge advantage.

Two Ghouls charged out from both sides.

The one charging Aliris hadn't even started its attack when its head was split open.

The one charging Karna was kicked away by Aliris, who retracted her sword and turned, sending it flying.

After landing, its head was pierced by a stone.

Karna stood in place the entire time.

"Your Highness, are you alright?"

"Uh... I'm fine."

What was the point of trickery or tactics now?

They should just crush them directly.

The level suppression in reality was far more absurd than in games.

Karna made comparisons, his impression from games slowly beginning to shift.

"Awoo!"

A wolf howl, and a dark figure leaped down from a rooftop about 10 meters away towards them.

Following behind him were two Ghouls and a Giant Bat.

"You handle the Werewolf and the bat; I can deal with the two Ghouls."

After saying that, Karna shoved the dinner knife he was holding into Aliris's hand.

Without waiting for Aliris to ask, he immediately said, "This dinner knife is silver; it can restrain that Werewolf."

He then directly retreated and jumped away.

Aliris couldn't bother with so much anymore.

She threw a stone, knocking the Giant Bat down, though this time it didn't precisely hit its head.

But the damage caused was enough to bring the Giant Bat down.

Gripping her longsword, she directly confronted the dark figure.

This must be the Werewolf?

Aliris had never seen a Werewolf, nor had she even heard of one.

But the monster in front of her was clearly a Werewolf; it had a wolf's head, like a bipedal wolf, but with very obvious stitched scars on its body.

She hadn't encountered this type of monster when escaping before, so Aliris didn't know how strong it was.

She swung her sword with force.

The Werewolf seemed to sense danger and immediately crossed its arms.

With the sound of metal clashing.

The sword struck the bracer on the Werewolf's forearm.

"Very strong, but a little weaker than me," Aliris concluded.

Without hesitation, she pressed down hard.

Instantly forcing the Werewolf back two steps.

She quickly retracted her sword, bent down, and directly slammed into the Werewolf's chest.

The Werewolf's height was about two meters, significantly taller than Aliris.

As she crashed in, the hilt of her sword directly struck upwards against the Werewolf's chin.

The entire process was fluid and extremely fast.

The blade made a small cut, leaving a wound on the Werewolf's waist and abdomen. She then rolled on the spot, dodging the Werewolf's downward claw attack.

Getting back up.

Aliris had made her assessment.

Strong, agile, fur and skin tougher than she expected, but fighting technique was unrefined, purely instinctive.

Considering other Bloodline monsters, their recovery ability must also be strong.

Must be an instant kill.

Taking advantage of this moment, Aliris didn't stay idle. She had picked up a stone during her roll and threw it again at the Giant Bat, which was trying to flap its wings and fly up again.

This time, it precisely pierced its head.

This action completely enraged the Werewolf.

This was outright provocation, an utter disregard for him. He howled and directly lunged forward.

Seems he's easily angered.

A step back dodged the pouncing attack, and the blade swung sideways, cutting hard into the Werewolf's claws.

The claws were very hard, directly creating sparks upon impact.

Aliris kicked the Werewolf in the chest, a kick that directly sent the Werewolf stumbling backward.

Stepping forward, she followed with a quick step, and the blade pierced straight and fiercely into the Werewolf's chest.

Thinking of the potential recovery power of these monsters, she pulled out the dinner knife from behind her waist.

She directly trusted Karna's words and, without hesitation, plunged the dinner knife directly into the Werewolf's chest as well.

"Ahhh!"

As the dinner knife was inserted, the Werewolf let out a wail far louder than before.

Aliris took the opportunity to kick, driving the dinner knife, blade and handle, further into the wound. She also pulled her sword back.

And the Werewolf frantically clawed at its chest, roaring and wailing, completely uninterested in fighting.

Was it that effective?

Aliris had absolutely not expected such a good effect and no longer hesitated. She stepped forward, swung her blade in a semicircle, and directly cut off the head of the now defenseless Werewolf.

She turned to look at the other side.

She just saw Karna use his shield to knock the remaining Ghoul to the ground, then swung his sword, cutting off the Ghoul's head.

Karna looked at Aliris, who had also resolved her battle, and she had barely any injuries.

He hadn't expected that in such a short time, they would have cleared out the entire village.

We're really amazing.

He stood up and approached the Werewolf's corpse.

He looked at its chest by the moonlight.

The dinner knife was still stuck there, but around the knife, there was a large area that looked like it had been corroded by sulfuric acid.

He pulled out the dinner knife and handed it back to Aliris.

"Your Highness, how did you know his weakness?"

Aliris couldn't help but ask. Without this silver dinner knife, the battle wouldn't have been resolved so easily.

At least a few more rounds would have been needed for a single fatal blow.

Karna, who was busy stripping the Werewolf's bracers, heard this and casually said,

"These monsters are actually the work of people in the palace; the source of the problem is actually the conspiracy of those in the royal family."

"What?" Aliris looked shocked.
