Chapter 49: Freshman Admission

“Got it, Teacher. Want some cold drinks?” Wen Xiangjie picked up a new glass and filled it with a still-chilled beverage.

Teacher Zong’s eyes lit up. She took the drink from Wen Xiangjie and chugged the entire glass in one go.

“Refreshing!” Teacher Zong smacked her lips, savoring the fresh peach aroma in her mouth, and gave Wen Xiangjie an approving look.

This student was quite sensible; good, she liked her!

Her gaze fell on the drama Wen Xiangjie and the Elf Queen were watching, and Teacher Zong’s eyes brightened again: “You’re watching this drama too?”

“Yes, the plot is quite good. Teacher, want some snacks?” Wen Xiangjie gathered a pile of snacks from the left side of the sofa and placed them in front of Teacher Zong.

Teacher Zong looked at Wen Xiangjie with even greater appreciation.

She hadn’t seen a student so much to her liking in a long time. Good, she was indeed a promising talent, just as Old Lu had said!

The two, one human and one pet, leaned on the sofa, watching dramas all day until it grew dark. Only then did Teacher Zong reluctantly leave Wen Xiangjie’s small villa.

“I might not be able to get up tomorrow… Never mind, I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning. It’s your first official day of school, so consider it me taking you to school,” Teacher Zong said after a moment of hesitation before leaving.

“Thank you, Teacher Zong. Coincidentally, I ate a kind of otherworld gourmet food in the Magic Farm Game Copy and had the Butler Robot replicate it. Teacher, why don’t you come to my place for breakfast tomorrow and try something new?” Wen Xiangjie said with a smile.

Hearing Wen Xiangjie mention the otherworld gourmet food, Teacher Zong tightened her grip on the doorknob of Wen Xiangjie’s villa. It was clear she was debating whether to just stay at Wen Xiangjie’s house tonight, but in the end, to maintain a sense of propriety, she reluctantly chose to leave.

“Alright, I’ll come early tomorrow morning. Make plenty of whatever delicious food you have; I can eat it all!” Teacher Zong earnestly instructed Wen Xiangjie.

“No problem, Teacher. I guarantee it’ll be a large and filling amount,” Wen Xiangjie readily agreed.

Teacher Zong gave Wen Xiangjie a thumbs-up in affirmation, then turned and opened the door to leave.

The next morning, as soon as Wen Xiangjie finished washing up, changed her clothes, and came to the living room, she heard the Butler Robot announce that Teacher Zong was at the door.

She had the Butler Robot open the door for Teacher Zong, who excitedly rushed straight to the dining table.

“This is the otherworld gourmet food you mentioned?” Looking at the table full of delicacies, Teacher Zong swallowed: “I really haven’t eaten any of these before.”

“Yes, this is evernight ice and snow hotpot, Golden Lava Bread…” Wen Xiangjie introduced to Teacher Zong.

Due to material issues, the replicated otherworld gourmet food naturally couldn’t be exactly the same as the original, but for the taste to be about seventy to eighty percent similar was already very good.

Teacher Zong buried her head and ate ravenously until all the food on the table was cleared. Only then did she cover her stomach and let out a satisfied burp, a look of enjoyment on her face.

The Elf Queen, sitting at the table with her small cup of nectar, stared blankly at Teacher Zong, then looked at Wen Xiangjie with a puzzled expression.

Master, is this a mutated species among humans?

“Cough, cough, cough!” Wen Xiangjie coughed violently, forcing down the smile that had reached her lips, and patted the Elf Queen’s head.

The child was still too young and hadn’t seen much of the world. She would have to take her out more to broaden her horizons.

After eating and drinking her fill, Teacher Zong took Wen Xiangjie to the location of the opening ceremony.

Along the way, the faculty members who knew Teacher Zong were all dumbfounded to see her up so early and with a student by her side.

Ever since Teacher Zong returned to the First Military Academy from her last game copy, the faculty members had only seen her during her nighttime foraging hours. To see her at this time of day was truly astonishing.

Moreover, Teacher Zong was notoriously disinclined to take on students, yet this time she actually had a student with her, and the two were chatting and laughing, seemingly on good terms.

Could she have woken up early just to take this student to the opening ceremony???

All the faculty members couldn't help but take a second look at Wen Xiangjie. This student was something else.

Teacher Zong directly led Wen Xiangjie to the Great Auditorium Office Area. She banged on the door.

“It’s Zong Yaqin!”

Soon after, the door opened, and Teacher Zong swaggered into the office with Wen Xiangjie.

Lu Dezong, sitting in the office, also looked at Teacher Zong as if he had seen a ghost: “I’m not dreaming, am I? You actually brought Wen Xiangjie to the opening ceremony?”

“What’s there to be surprised about? Didn’t the Principal instruct me to be her guardian teacher?” Teacher Zong plopped down onto the sofa and half-reclined crookedly.

Lu Dezong hesitated to speak.

The Principal had indeed arranged for Teacher Zong to be Wen Xiangjie’s guardian teacher, but given Teacher Zong’s lazy nature, they had thought it would be good enough if Teacher Zong could personally protect Wen Xiangjie when she left the school. They never expected Teacher Zong to personally bring Wen Xiangjie to the opening ceremony.

Lu Dezong looked at Wen Xiangjie, who smiled and greeted him: “Teacher Lu, good morning!”

Hearing this “Teacher Lu,” Lu Dezong immediately felt refreshed, and his back straightened considerably.

As expected of the promising talent he had painstakingly recruited—so polite!

Was this just a simple student? No, this was his ten years of work KPI!

Teacher Zong taking Wen Xiangjie to school was completely reasonable. Who wouldn’t like such a good student!

“I’ve successfully brought her to you. You take her to the opening ceremony. I need to catch some sleep here,” Teacher Zong’s voice had already become slurred.

The entire faculty was accustomed to Teacher Zong sleeping anywhere.

“Alright, you sleep,” Lu Dezong said simply. Then he stood up and said to Wen Xiangjie with a kind expression: “Let’s go, Wen Xiangjie. It’s almost time. I’ll take you to the main hall of the auditorium. You can just sit next to me later.”

At the same time, Lu Dezong didn’t forget to flash what he considered a very gentle and kind smile at the Elf Queen, who was sitting obediently on Wen Xiangjie’s shoulder.

The Elf Queen hugged Wen Xiangjie’s neck tightly in fear.

There are so many mutated humans around Master! She must try hard to adapt and become as calm as Master as soon as possible!

Lu Dezong, unaware of the Elf Queen’s inner thoughts, thought she was just shy and chuckled as he led Wen Xiangjie to the main hall of the auditorium.

At this time, the main hall of the auditorium was already full of students. They excitedly looked around the hall while chatting with their roommates sitting beside them.

The First Military Academy’s dormitories were divided into four-person rooms, double rooms, and detached villas. Most new students lived in four-person rooms after enrollment.
