Chapter 54: Game Instance: Card Master (2)

“Silently recite ‘Map’ to open the map.”

Helena thoughtfully stopped talking, giving the students some time to view the map.

Wen Xiangjie silently recited “Map,” and a map unfolded before her.

There were six areas at the top of the map, and an avatar representing the player was currently located in the School area.

“School: Safe Zone. No one can initiate forced combat in the School (practical combat courses arranged by the School and special event triggers are not considered forced combat).”

“Daoguan District: Peaceful Zone. Combat invitations can be initiated, but both parties must agree.”

“Residential Area: Home to many Card Masters. You might be able to gain the favor of Card Masters here and receive cards they bestow. But please be careful to distinguish; the Master you find may not be a true Master.”

“Commercial Street: Safe Zone. No one is allowed to initiate forced combat on Commercial Street. Violators will be expelled from Commercial Street by the Commercial Street administrator and blacklisted, preventing further entry for transactions.”

“Gambling Card District: Free Zone. Forced combat can be initiated. The danger level depends on your gambling card results.”

“Gladiator Tower: Dangerous Zone. A gathering place for fervent combat enthusiasts. You may be pulled into forced combat at any time here.”

The map provided a simple introduction to each area; specific details would require teleporting to the actual locations to understand.

However, from the area descriptions, it was clear that the Gambling Card District and Gladiator Tower were high-risk areas, and it was best not to go there for now without a certain degree of confidence.

Helena saw that the students had finished viewing the map and continued to explain the game rules.

“I’m sure everyone saw the mention of forced combat in the map information. I’ll explain what forced combat means. Forced combat is when one party can forcibly initiate combat against another by consuming one epic card.”

“If the other party does not wish to accept the combat, they need to similarly consume one epic card to refuse.”

“But if you possess a Legendary Card, you can gain a 3-hour immunity from forced combat without consuming a card!”

When she spoke of “Legendary Card,” Helena’s eyes were filled with longing.

“Of course, Legendary Cards are extremely rare and hard to come by. Card levels are divided into Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and God Card. Among them, God Cards are personally crafted by the card god, and only winners of the Card Competition can obtain them.”

“Legendary Cards cannot be obtained by opening card packs, but I have some information about Legendary Cards here.”

“As long as you attend classes diligently every day and earnestly complete the assignments given by the School, you can participate in the graduation exam. The student who gets first place will receive a Legendary Card as a reward from the School!” Helena raised her voice, encouragingly speaking to the students.

“Wow!” All the students in the classroom let out exclamations of surprise.

Wen Xiangjie twirled the pen in her hand, drawing some information from Helena’s words.

God Cards were the ultimate reward of the dungeon, and in regular combat, Legendary Cards were the ceiling of card combat power.

Legendary Cards could not be obtained through conventional means, but the School had a plot branch where there was a chance to acquire a Legendary Card.

By the same logic, other areas on the map should also have similar plot branches, with a chance to obtain a Legendary Card at the end.

However, Helena had mentioned that it required “attending classes diligently every day,” which meant students needed to stay at the School for at least eight hours a day according to the class schedule.

Similar plot branches in other areas would certainly also have prerequisite time requirements for their plots. In this way, players would inevitably have to make a choice, only being able to follow one or two plot branches, while abandoning the remaining ones.

The specific situation was still the same: it required exploring other areas first before analyzing and deciding.

“Now, I will briefly introduce the combat method of the card game.” Helena said with a smile, “Please follow me to the simulated training ground, everyone.”

Wen Xiangjie and the others, along with other NPC students, followed Helena to one of the venues in the School’s simulated training ground.

Helena walked onto the combat arena, set up a simulated opponent on the control platform, and then selected to start combat.

A holographic translucent figure appeared on the other side of the arena.

A large die appeared in front of both Helena and the simulated combat robot. Helena waved her hand slightly, and the die in front of her automatically spun. After a few seconds, the upward face of the die showed 5 points, and the upward face of the die in front of the simulated combat robot showed 3 points.

“Both combatants have entered the arena. First player: Helena. Second player: Simulated Combat Robot A6. Combat officially begins!”

A panel appeared in front of both Helena and Simulated Combat Robot A6.

“Health Points: 3000 points.”

“In card combat, both combatants start with 3000 Health Points. Whichever side’s combat value reaches zero first loses.” Helena pointed to the 3000 Health Point panel in front of her and said.

Then she raised the card drawer worn on her left wrist and continued to explain to the students: “This is the card drawer. Before combat begins, everyone must put their organized deck into the card drawer. The card drawer will automatically shuffle your cards randomly. Each deck is limited to 40-60 cards. How to combine your deck requires careful consideration.”

“In the first round, both sides can draw five cards.” As soon as Helena finished speaking, the card drawer in her hand spat out five cards.

“Summon the combat card Shadow Wolf.” Helena took out one card from the five and, holding it with her right index and middle fingers, flew it towards the central combat arena.

As the card landed in the combat arena, it transformed into a giant wolf with black-grey fur, letting out a wolf howl at the simulated combat robot A6 opposite.

“Shadow Wolf: Attack Power 600 points.”

“Combat cards are the most important card type in our deck. Each combat card has an initial attack power value. For example, this Shadow Wolf’s attack power is 600. If the opponent does not have a corresponding defense method, my Shadow Wolf will directly deal 600 points of damage to the opponent. However, combat cards cannot initiate an attack in the first round after being summoned, unless there is a special mechanism card.”

“The attack power value of combat cards is not static; it can be increased through equipment type cards.”

Helena took another card from her hand and threw it into the combat arena: “Equip Shadow Wolf with Nether Ghost Claws.”

The card transformed into four claws emitting dark blue flames, covering the Shadow Wolf’s four limbs, and the Shadow Wolf’s attack power increased accordingly.

“Shadow Wolf: Attack Power 800 points.”
