Chapter 247: Route

The group chat went quiet for a few seconds.

Shi Tailang excitedly said, "Xin Ge, can a Squad Leader get his own independent office?"

"I wouldn't know, I'm a Battalion Commander."

The group chat fell into a long silence once more.

Shi Tailang said enviously, "No way, sir, I remember you as the Red Underpants War God, full of flamboyant charm. How did you become a Ninth Division Battalion Commander in the blink of an eye?"

Fang Xin just smiled. It felt like the title of Red Underpants War God hadn't been around for very long, yet in a flash, he had already left Sky Shield Academy and officially joined the Ninth Division as a Battalion Commander.

However, while Shi Tailang and the others were envious of Fang Xin becoming a Battalion Commander, they weren't resentful at all. They had always stuck together since the start of school, their relationship was very good, and they would all feel proud and genuinely happy for a teammate's promotion, offering sincere blessings.

After all, they were good brothers and sisters who had faced life and death together. If one of them rose to prominence, the others would also benefit. Moreover, none of them were lacking; they would all surely achieve great things in the future, expanding their connections.

Shi Tailang changed the subject. This guy seemed to have a talent for collecting all sorts of gossip. "I heard someone say that a rich young master seemed to have parachuted in today. Our Sky Shield Bureau headquarters prohibits flying in front of the building, but he drove his car directly to the side of the building and got out. The big shots stationed inside just turned a blind eye and didn't question it at all."

"Damn it, that's too arrogant."

Several people indignantly said, "Isn't it? We don't know which bastard was driving the car. He has no regard for the rules! If you're one of those elder-level figures, nobody would say anything, but you're a parachuted young master, why are you putting on airs? Isn't this just asking for trouble?!"

"Fatty, do you know who it was?"

"There are many rumors, but the car is said to be Old Master Ye's private vehicle."

"Huh? Xin Ge, weren't you the first to arrive? Did you see which bastard got out of the car?"

Fang Xin's face darkened. "I think there's no need for such malice. Maybe he didn't intend to be so arrogant; it was just the bastard driving the car who was arrogant."

"Hmph, isn't it all the same? If the driver is so arrogant, the passenger must be even more arrogant! We need to know who this bastard is in advance so we can prepare! We don't want to accidentally provoke him and have that scoundrel make trouble for us!"

"Right! Fatty hit the nail on the head! We have to be wary of these parachuted people! As the old saying goes, 'one should not harbor ill intentions, but one must be prepared against the ill intentions of others!'"

"Don't let our chat content get out! It wouldn't be good if others found out!"

"Right, right, right! Fatty finally grew a brain today!"

Fang Xin looked at the constantly refreshing messages and chuckled, annoyed, "I think what you're saying now might already be too late."

"Too late for what?"

"Because the person who got out of that car was me."

After a few seconds of silence in the group chat.

"Holy moly! Xin Ge! You're... you're too incredible! You went to report for duty in Old Master Ye's private car?"

Fang Xin said helplessly, "Didn't I tell you before that I spent New Year's at Old Master Ye's house?"

"But who the hell would have thought things would develop to this point? Old Master Ye sent his driver in his private car to take you to report for duty! Holy moly, this, this, this, if this happened to me, my family's genealogy would get a new page just for me!"

Fang Xin looked at his teammates' chat records. It seemed that the news of him being Old Master Ye's grand-nephew had only spread within the circles of these second and third generations, and hadn't yet reached outside.

While they were chatting, Shi Tailang sent a message, "Hey, the system has updated, and everyone's positions have been updated too!"

As the people in the group chat were talking, everyone's information changed, and their avatar frames were also different.

Fang Xin saw that among these people, except for Li Bao'er, who was a full Squad Leader, everyone else was a Squad Leader (Provisional).

He figured there was still a probationary period, and once that time passed and all assessments were cleared, they would automatically be promoted to full Squad Leader.

Each Squad Leader manages six people, each Battalion Commander manages six squads, and each Team Leader manages six battalions.

Fang Xin was now a Battalion Commander, managing six squads. According to the system's allocation, three of the squads he oversaw were newly hired graduates, and the other three were from the previous year.

These were just internally mobilizable personnel. When executing missions, Fang Xin could mobilize a team from another division.

However, having just taken office, there would certainly be a lot of gossip.

Fang Xin knew very well that the simplest and most direct way to crush such gossip was to demonstrate genuine strength.

When his absolute strength showed an overwhelming advantage, no one would dare to gossip.

Just like Bai Mao Zai held multiple positions in the Ninth Division alone, and no one dared to complain about him.

He felt the atmosphere in the office for a while.

Xiao Lu Jie sent a message saying she had to attend the onboarding ceremony.

By the time all of this was done, three or four hours had already passed.

Fang Xin's six Squad Leaders, including Li Bao'er, Bai Yulin, and Shi Tailang, as well as three others Fang Xin had met, all maintained a friendly demeanor, but Fang Xin could keenly sense their unspoken resentment.

They were all muttering to themselves, a Strength-based Mangfu becoming a Battalion Commander as soon as he arrived.

Shi Tailang stretched his limbs and leaned towards Fang Xin. "Xin Ge, to celebrate a successful first day of work! Let's go for hotpot!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Xiao Lu Jie called out, "Xiao Xin, come to the meeting!"

Fang Xin glared at Shi Tailang, annoyed. Shi Tailang, with a helpless shrug, indicated that it had nothing to do with him.

He followed Xiao Lu Jie into the conference room.

Upon entering, he found quite a few people inside.

Sikong Zhao, whom he had met in the hallway earlier, sat to one side, still with that smiling demeanor. From his seat and posture, it was as if he were holding court from behind a curtain.

The main seat was still empty. Fang Xin recognized the person sitting in the first seat beside the main one: it was Tai Shi Bo, the little killing god he had encountered during the final exams.

Tai Shi Bo was still dozing in his seat as usual.

After Fang Xin entered, everyone in the conference room looked his way. After all, many of those present were older than Fang Xin, and the presence of someone who became a Battalion Commander right after joining couldn't help but draw their attention and admiration.

Even though Fang Xin had Old Master Ye backing him, for someone fresh out of Sky Shield Academy to become a Battalion Commander, when everyone present was exceptionally talented, they naturally had pride in their hearts and a touch of arrogance in their bones. They wouldn't be easily convinced.

Fang Xin ignored the scrutinizing gazes and casually swept his eyes across the room, noticing that no less than four Team Leaders from the Ninth Division had arrived, and there were twelve Battalion Commanders.

This was quite a formidable lineup.

Fang Xin found a seat and sat down. The conference room was quiet, as if everyone was waiting for the person in the main seat.

After a full four or five minutes, footsteps approached from outside.

Immediately after, a handsome middle-aged man walked in.

He was wearing a suit, giving off the impression of a domineering CEO.

Upon his entrance, the people on both sides of the conference table rose to their feet.

"Deputy Director!"

The middle-aged man sat down efficiently, raising his hand to motion for everyone to sit and speak.

"Apologies, I'm a few minutes late. So, let's cut to the chase. The King of Reincarnation, one of the Seven Kings, has appeared again! This is his route over the past year!"

As he spoke, a projection appeared.

Fang Xin also looked over.

Initially, he just glanced casually.

But when he saw the words Linyang City Aiyo Barlieu, he couldn't help but tremble all over.
