Chapter 1: The beginning of everything

“No! I am… I am the head of the Seventy-Two Demon Gods, how could I lose to…?”

Watching the same old lines on the screen, the young man in front of the computer impatiently pressed the spacebar to skip the dialogue.

Finally, a blue box appeared on the screen, which read:

“Esteemed Brave One, congratulations on clearing Hell difficulty and fulfilling all conditions for the true ending.

Achievement Unlocked: 'Godslayer' (This achievement has only a 0.01% ownership rate).”

Seeing this, the young man nodded with satisfaction, stretched comfortably, and murmured, “This ownership rate, tsk tsk, it was worth burning the midnight oil for half a month.”

He expertly took a screenshot of the achievement and sent it to a certain gaming discussion group.

As expected, the screen was filled with '666' and 'You're awesome, boss' messages. The young man enjoyed this feeling of being the center of attention, as he was truly unremarkable in everything else except being slightly good at gaming.

The young man's name was Ye Shuangluo, a gaming enthusiast whose favorite thing was collecting all the achievements in games.

In Frostfall’s eyes, collecting all the achievements in a game was where his true enjoyment of gaming lay.

At school, Ye Shuangluo was just a nobody; his grades were average, his appearance was plain, and his athletic ability was not good.

Perhaps the only special thing about him was his background.

Yes, Ye Shuangluo was an orphan; his parents were run over by a drunk truck driver and turned into minced meat when he was nine.

The truck driver was consequently sentenced to death.

It's worth mentioning that Ye Shuangluo’s parents left him a substantial inheritance.

However, due to his age, this inheritance was temporarily managed by Ye Shuangluo’s uncle and aunt.

Of course, Ye Shuangluo was very fortunate; his uncle and aunt did not bully him, the orphan, or make him go hungry or cold, unlike the wicked uncles and aunts in many stories.

His uncle and aunt treated him very well, although they took a portion of his parents' inheritance to buy a car, a house, and a bunch of luxury goods for Ye Shuangluo's twin cousins.

But Ye Shuangluo could accept all of it. After all, they had taken care of him for so many years, and even if they hired a nanny, they wouldn't not pay wages, right?

So, even when his cousins often said at school that he was freeloading at their house, Ye Shuangluo never got angry.

After all, what could two little kids, who hadn't even fully grown, understand? They must have heard it from adults and were just parroting it.

Ye Shuangluo leaned back in his swivel chair, his gaze uncontrollably drawn to the window.

Outside the window, maple leaves were slowly falling. Ye Shuangluo suddenly felt a bit lost, wondering what would become of him in the future.

He was already 17 this year, and according to the law, once he turned 18, he could freely dispose of the inheritance his parents left him.

But would his uncle and aunt really return the money to him?

Ye Shuangluo pondered for a moment and came to a conclusion: No.

Leaving aside his aunt, who always looked down on him, just consider his biological uncle, Jiang Yiming; he had clearly grown accustomed to a high-society lifestyle.

It's easy to go from frugality to luxury, but difficult to go from luxury to frugality.

Just then, a notification sound suddenly came from the computer.

Ye Shuangluo slowly sat up, only to see a small blue box, like a chat pop-up from communication software, suddenly appearing on the computer screen.

Faced with this sudden situation, Ye Shuangluo tried to close it with his mouse and keyboard, but without exception, all attempts failed.

Even pulling out the plug to force a shutdown, the computer screen remained lit.

Facing this bizarre situation, Ye Shuangluo wasn't too panicked. Instead, he considered whether to smash the computer screen with a hammer.

Just as Ye Shuangluo began to consider destroying the computer and was about to act, he suddenly inadvertently saw the content inside the small box.

“Do you want to play a truly interesting game that can change your destiny?”

“Yes / Very Much Yes”

“Pfft, is this a multiple-choice question? It doesn't give people a chance to refuse at all.”

Ye Shuangluo was holding a hammer in front of the computer screen. If he wanted to, he could easily smash the screen in front of him to pieces.

But those small words seemed to possess a magical power, making Ye Shuangluo’s heart uncontrollably agitated and wildly pound.

It was as if his body was also telling him that if he missed this opportunity, he would regret it for a lifetime.

So Ye Shuangluo dropped the hammer, sat back in front of the computer, and dragged the mouse to select the “Very Much Yes” option.

As he made his selection, the small box on the computer screen slowly transformed into a white light that engulfed him.

Then the computer screen suddenly darkened, as if nothing had happened at all.

When Ye Shuangluo opened his eyes again, he had arrived inside a ruin, with no one else around.

Just as Ye Shuangluo was still wondering what was going on, a mechanical voice suddenly rang out in his mind.

“Welcome, prospective player.”

“This world is a novice trial world. For your gaming experience, the following buffs are hereby awarded:”

“One. Increased Drop Rate: You will more easily obtain equipment and various items (expires after three worlds).”

“Two. All Attributes Increased: All your attributes except Luck are increased by 5 points (expires after one world).”

After listening to the mechanical voice in his mind, Ye Shuangluo, based on his many years of gaming and novel-reading experience, silently thought:

“Personal Panel.”

Accompanying Ye Shuangluo's call, a light screen visible only to him appeared before him.

Talent: Achievement Master (Unique Special Exclusive Talent)

Ye Shuangluo clenched his fists. He felt incredibly energetic at that moment, as if he had endless strength throughout his body.

This feeling made him incredibly intoxicated, but he didn't overly indulge in it, because he clearly knew that his current attributes were a benefit given by the game system.

But Ye Shuangluo believed that as long as he worked hard, he would soon possess strength equal to or even far greater than his current power.

After silently making up his mind, Ye Shuangluo noticed the last entry on the attribute panel: Talent.

With a thought, the talent panel immediately unfolded.

Achievement Master (Exclusive Unique Talent)
