Chapter 5: Attack on Ifishu Island

Iphix Island, underground command center.

"No, are you kidding me?"

Commander Su Li looked at the people still sitting there, and the equipment and numbers displayed on the screen, his heart filled with curses.

His expression changed.

The government personnel sitting on both sides of the conference table also looked uncomfortable when they saw Commander Su Li.

"I just don't understand, why do we have to let a spy lead us? Are we going to let him lead us to surrender?"

A man wearing a monocle said uncomfortably, but as soon as he spoke, many people's eyes lit up. "Surrender" what a beautiful word.

Some even looked towards Commander Su Li.

Commander Su Li met his gaze, "If I could surrender, would I be sitting here with you bunch of losers!!!"

"Everyone, sober up!"

"You don't even have the right to surrender. You're all going to be suffocated by gas, frozen to death by cold, and then thrown to Earth as trash!"

"Stop having any illusions!

"If you still want to live, then obey my orders. We will carve out a path to survival from this desperate situation. If you don't listen…"

Commander Su Li looked towards the door and slammed the table heavily.

A group of soldiers in light brown Federal Army uniforms quickly ran in, their military boots clattering on the ground.

Leading the team was Hughes Wen, the other Level 5 agent who interrogated Commander Su Li yesterday. He was now holding a rifle.

His expression was full of murderous intent.

"I'll send you on your way now, and then when Iphix Island falls to Earth, I'll meet you in hell!"

Commander Su Li had no intention of joking. Disaster was imminent, and if there was no substantive management, then there would truly be no hope at all.

He and Malok had made a plan, the first step of which was to seize control of Iphix Island, because it was already in chaos.

Those with ability had all gone to the docking port, trying to leave by force in private spacecraft.

After all, staying here meant waiting for death.

But going out meant dying even faster, and thanks to these cowardly guys, the docking port was blocked.

Especially the ships that flew out, they crashed into the Principality of Zeon's fleet, directly facing the main space warships.

Unarmed civilian transport ships were smashed to pieces like paper targets.

This also bought Commander Su Li and his team a little time. Commander Su Li initially wanted to block the "bottleneck" docking port.

The main goal was to prevent the main warships from entering.

The people now sitting in the command center were the last resistance force on Iphix Island. At this point, who was the leader was completely irrelevant.

Commander Su Li looked down at the data on the screen.

His heart was completely cold.

First of all, Iphix Island had no space fleet, not even armed gunboats. Don't expect to go out and fight.

The armed forces available for this operation were also pitifully small.

Because there were Earth Federation Forces stationed before, the Side-2 Colony Satellite area did not have many regular soldiers.

There was only a small portion of "auxiliary troops" maintaining order.

These were the Hart soldiers of the Hart Colonial Government, and these "auxiliary troops" were currently distributing weapons to citizens in the streets.

Even so, the paper data showed only 30,000.

It sounded like a lot, but what were they facing?

They were facing 18-meter tall Zakus, carrying machine guns with a caliber of 120mm or more, equivalent to tank cannons, and capable of high-speed continuous fire.

In this situation, how could they defend?

And in the current situation, it was uncertain if there were even 10,000 usable soldiers, so they could only be organized on an ad hoc basis.

Compared to ordinary soldiers, Commander Su Li's hopes were more on heavy firepower. At the very least, they should have some other equipment.

For example, the initial model of the Guncannon. This thing was produced at the same time as the Zaku.

However, it was directly crushed by the Zaku's performance.

The design itself had problems. This series of Guncannons were all for artillery support, which in plain terms meant humanoid tanks.

It simply replaced the tracks of the previous steel tank with legs.

The Zaku, on the other hand, was a groundbreaking mobile suit.

They were completely different.

Only the later First generation Gundam successfully overtook it.

But now, Commander Su Li lacked this kind of heavy firepower. Without the suppression from this heavy firepower, let alone Zakus, they would be finished even if a Gukyosho came in.

However, there were no Guncannons at all.

They didn't even have heavy artillery, which made Commander Su Li grit his teeth. The Earth Federation, in order to restrict the Colony Satellites, did not allow them to be independent militarily.

Even the current Principality of Zeon, during the period of the Muzo Republic, was subjected to an economic blockade by the Earth Federation.

"You're not going to tell me that our most powerful weapon right now is a 45mm shoulder-fired rocket launcher, are you?"

Commander Su Li looked up at those people, hoping for a rebuttal.

The burly man sitting on the right slammed the table again, "We also have 6.72mm caliber rifles!"

"You're quite proud, aren't you…"

Commander Su Li was speechless, but the bad news wouldn't stop. Malok, who was outside, had already run in.

"No, Mr. Om from the energy management company was killed by artillery fire while taking a shuttle to leave the dock."

"Then go find an engineer, figure out a way to block the air ducts, and at the same time convert Iphix Island's core energy. This is our only chance!"

"If Zeon forces us, we'll fight to the death with them. I'll buy you time!"

Commander Su Li leaned his hands on the table, looking at the others, and said seriously, "Everyone present, I don't know you, so I won't introduce you one by one. Anyway, we're all going to die."

"This is our only chance. I need soldiers, I need equipment, I need all kinds of weapons, I need to stop Zeon's soldiers!"

"…"

The conference room fell silent.

A handsome middle-aged man on the right, dressed in noble attire and looking very gentlemanly, stood up.

"Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Mordec His, Chairman of His Group."

"I know of Commander Su Li's efforts, so our group's warehouse still has three Hein-class passenger ships, which we are willing to donate free of charge. For other needs, we will do our best."

"Excellent!"

Commander Su Li didn't care what class they were; they would definitely be useful now. "I also need powerful weapons, like cannons, steel tanks would be even better. I also need a group of soldiers who aren't afraid to die!"

The burly man stood up and said, "Leave this to me. My name is Dogan Smith, a Lieutenant in the Hart Government Army. We also have some good lads in our army."

"Very good, but just some good lads isn't enough. We need to fight guerrilla warfare with them at the docking port."

"We must be like a sticky candy, so that when they punch in, they can't pull out. Only then can we ensure the safety of Iphix Island. Sacrifices must be valuable sacrifices!"

An alarm sounded on the conference table's screen.

Commander Su Li quickly switched the display.

The "bottleneck" docking port had been breached. Zeon forces' armored warships had entered, along with two green Zakus.

"Everyone, let's fight!"

After Commander Su Li finished speaking, he turned off the screen and walked out. Malok quickly followed him and said, "You don't have to go to the front line."

"Is there anywhere else to hide?"

Commander Su Li retorted, then continued, "Take your special agent unit. No matter what, you must modify the core energy. We need to turn Iphix Island into a nuclear bomb that can be detonated at any time."

"What about you?" Malok quickly asked.

"I'll see if there's a way to get a Zaku."

Commander Su Li paused for a moment, "If we can get one, we'll have a thirty percent chance of survival."

Upon hearing this, Malok stopped, raised his hand to salute Commander Su Li's back, "Commander Su Li, I wish you good fortune in battle!"

Commander Su Li turned and said, "If you make it out alive, help me take Zhuo Ya with you. She's a good woman and shouldn't die here."

"Yes, sir!"

Malok maintained his salute.

Commander Su Li quickly walked out, but the iron-faced agent Hughes Wen followed him. "Sir, I'll drive for you!"

"To the docking port!" Commander Su Li ordered.

At the same time…

Docking port.

Gunfire here was incessant, and the roar of rocket launchers was deafening, but even louder than these were the Principality of Zeon's tank vehicles.

These combat vehicles were very different from conventional tanks. They had double barrels and were larger in size.

Their wide tracks crushed the road.

The two-lane road was completely shattered, especially with the 108mm tank cannons on the tanks firing alternately. Wherever the muzzles pointed, it instantly turned into ruins.

Due to the severe blockage of the docking port by escaping space vessels, even medium-sized Gukyoshos could not enter.

They could only rely on MS mobile suits to provide fire support, and then directly allow troop transports to enter.

Each deployment involved two combat battalions, 1852 personnel, equipped with double-barreled tank vehicles, armored vehicles, and some steel tanks.

This is also why the Principality of Zeon would rather use inhumane gas weapons and nuclear attacks than conquer Colony Satellites one by one, because such an investment is simply too great.

If they were to conquer them one by one, they would need at least a full year to take Side-2, but using those destructive weapons would only take an hour!

A rocket, trailing its exhaust, struck the steel tank's chest armor, exploding in a burst of flame.

"Yay!"

From a nearby building, the man with the rocket launcher cheered, pumping his fist, but after the smoke from the explosion cleared, the steel tank appeared almost unscathed.

The man's expression instantly froze.

The steel tank's triangular tracks rumbled. Like a tank, the steel tank already had some characteristics of a humanoid war machine. The gunner's cockpit in the head provided a wider field of vision.

What was originally the tank's turret became the chest cockpit, and large-caliber heavy machine guns were added to both sides, serving as its hands.

On its shoulders were two 120mm low-recoil cannons.

It was practically a mobile arsenal launcher.

This equipment, the original GTO steel tanks, were captured by the Principality of Zeon from the Earth Federation Forces' garrison. Although they couldn't fully withstand a Zaku's attack, in this kind of landing battlefield, they were simply overwhelming!

The steel tank quickly raised its right arm, and four large-caliber heavy machine guns instantly aimed at the man who had just fired the rocket.

"No…"

Before the man could utter a word in panic, the steel tank's pilot had already sneered and pressed the firing button.

A storm of bullets, like heavy rain, instantly turned the man and the building he was hiding in into shattered ruins.

The steel tank's tracks rolled over the area, continuing to sweep forward.
