Chapter 278: #278 - The Power of the Mind Stone

Two hours later.

The three who had been fighting just now sat back in the Quinjet and took Loki back to the Helicarrier.

Nick Fury took his men to imprison Loki, while his deputy, Agent Hill, walked towards the group with a tablet.

"Just as you were capturing Loki, Agent Barton, who was controlled by Loki, attacked the European Nuclear Research Center and stole all the metallic iridium stored there. Dr. Banner believes they want to use this chemically inert and high-temperature-resistant metal as a target material to stabilize the energy fluctuations of high-energy particles, thereby further activating the Tesseract."

"Loki wants to summon an army he recruited in the universe, the Chitauri, and send them to Earth through a portal."

Thor withdrew his gaze from Shimizu and turned to Hill.

He felt a power similar to his own thunderous power from this mortal, but it was not as strong as his, the God of Thunder.

Seeing Thor withdraw his gaze, Shimizu silently resumed channeling chakra into the Mind Stone scepter, using all his senses to perceive the Mind Stone and the scepter.

Perceiving the scepter was relatively easy. It was merely a carrier for the gem. Although its overall structure was not simple, Shimizu's level allowed him to understand it.

Like the relationship between a battery and a motor, the Mind Stone possessed immense and unique energy. The scepter's primary functions were only two.

One was simply extracting the Mind Stone's energy and guiding it to the tip to fire energy blasts, and the other was as a spellcasting tool.

Shimizu didn't understand magic, but he understood ninjutsu.

He could sense that the scepter had extremely high energy conductivity. His chakra flowed through it very smoothly. Not only was there no loss, but circulating chakra through it even fused with some of the energy transmitted from the Mind Stone.

If he used this portion of chakra to perform ninjutsu, the power would increase exponentially, and it would definitely gain some mind-related properties.

If used to perform yin-style ninjutsu like genjutsu, the scepter's enhancement to genjutsu might be more exaggerated than a high-level Sharingan.

Using it to cast spells would also definitely have extraordinary effects.

Loki certainly hadn't used his full strength just now. His illusions, enhanced by the Mind Stone, were definitely much stronger than he had shown in Stuttgart.

He was, of course, deliberately getting captured. Agent Barton would continue to feint attacks to ensure that Dr. Selvig, also controlled by the Mind Stone scepter, could successfully open the portal with the Tesseract.

Now that the Mind Stone was here, it would be best if the following events could be resolved relatively easily.

Shimizu didn't know how this spell came about, but he only needed to disrupt the original energy's operational trajectory, and then the spell would naturally fail.

As the output of chakra increased, a layer of blue energy halo appeared on the scepter Shimizu was holding.

"What are you doing, Wote? The scepter in your hand doesn't belong to you."

Nick Fury noticed the movement on Shimizu's side and couldn't help but speak sternly.

"Shut your stinky mouth, one-eyed bald head. Haven't you realized that as an agent, you've lost perfect control over your emotions? Not to mention, the person who discovered Loki and defeated Loki wasn't you. At least I contributed the most to this. If this trophy has an owner, it won't be you."

Shimizu said unceremoniously.

He was prepared and forcibly suppressed the interference of the spell on the scepter on his own mind, but he was not unaffected.

"Crack!"

A subtle crack appeared on the surface of the scepter, and the energy circuit within had been damaged.

Now the scepter had become a pure carrier of the Mind Stone, and all functions for developing the gem's power had failed.

The oppressive feeling of irritability in everyone's hearts diminished.

In the distance, Loki, who was imprisoned in the high-altitude cell, was engaging in a verbal confrontation with Black Widow, but suddenly turned his head in surprise.

The spell he set on the gem had been broken.

Was it Thor?

No, he didn't have the brains for that.

"Do you Midgardians have wizards?"

Loki asked Black Widow in surprise.

"What?"

Natasha was even more confused than Loki.

"Loki left a spell in the scepter that can interfere with people's emotions. I remember when I was a child, he used this spell to make me crave to steal Father's goat with him. I didn't expect Earth to have wizards who could break Loki's spell. If you defeated Loki in a head-on battle, then his spoils of war should belong to you, which is an affirmation of the merit and glory of the warrior."

Thor patted Shimizu on the shoulder and looked at the scepter.

"Sorry, I'm not a wizard, but whether it's magic or technology, it's just the application of rules and energy. I just disrupted the internal energy flow of the scepter."

"But I clearly feel that there is a power similar to lightning in your body."

Thor asked doubtfully.

"Wote mastered the ability to control electric current due to an accidental experiment."

Stark glanced at the scepter in Shimizu's hand and explained.

He suddenly became interested in studying this scepter as well.

Shimizu also cooperated with Stark's words, stretched out a hand, and released lightning chakra.

"I can convert the energy in my body into electrical energy and manipulate it. One-eyed dragon, don't look at me with that kind of eyes. Even with my and Norman's abilities, this kind of experiment cannot be replicated. Theoretically, there is no possibility of it being replicated. Don't even think about it."

Shimizu interrupted Nick Fury's words as he spoke.

"Guys, now is not the time to talk about this. We need to first know what Loki's purpose is in doing this before we can take the next step."

Captain America clapped his hands.

"I think his purpose is obvious, to make me turn green, and then..."

Banner pushed his glasses, shook his hand, and made a gesture of smashing things everywhere.

"He is creating chaos. If he himself is here, plus the rampaging Hulk, the ship will become a mess, not to mention Barton, who is very familiar with this place, and then he can let the people on the other side successfully open the portal."

Shimizu deduced from the result.
