Chapter 8: Is the Levitation Spell considered Dark Magic? Why?

Brook sighed helplessly and took out a large bag of Little Day gummies from the cabinet.

Hermione's eyes immediately lit up (✧◡✧), and the corners of her mouth curved into an "I knew it" expression.

"I knew you still had some in stock!"

She reached out for the gummies, unwrapped them without ceremony, and popped one into her mouth.

Hermione never stood on ceremony with Brook, but she also never came empty-handed.

She pulled two substantial burgers from her bag.

"Here, your breakfast," Hermione winked, "I made them myself."

Brook took the burger, took a bite, and frowned slightly.

The steak was a bit burnt, but he still swallowed it.

"How is it? (●⁰ꈊ⁰●)" Hermione looked at him expectantly.

"Not bad."

Hermione contentedly took out "Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1" from her bag and began reading it intently.

Brook had originally planned to buy some cosmetics, change his appearance, and stroll around Diagon Alley to complete some tasks.

But since Hermione was here, they might as well read together; he had to read it sooner or later anyway.

If he ended up last in the school exams, he couldn't bear the shame.

He slowly ate his burger, his gaze occasionally darting towards Hermione.

Hermione was already engrossed in the book, and her wand had somehow appeared in her hand.

She wasn't waving it around aimlessly but was seriously reading the book.

Two hours passed in a flash.

Hermione's brow furrowed tighter and tighter, almost twisted into a knot.

Brook noticed her unusual behavior, "What's wrong?"

"There's something wrong with this book."

Hermione looked up, a hint of dissatisfaction in her tone.

Brook's expression instantly turned serious.

Could this little girl also be a transmigrator?

Otherwise, how could she discover problems in a magic book the moment she started reading it?

"What's the problem?"

"The book only describes the spells and their effects, but it doesn't explain how to cast them. Is magic just simply holding a wand and chanting a spell?"

Brook breathed a sigh of relief.

That's all?

"Actually, it's quite normal, it's like a form of secrecy."

"Secrecy?" Hermione's brows furrowed even deeper.

"Then how are we supposed to learn in advance? Hogwarts must have many young Wizards from Wizarding families. They'll learn in advance under their families' guidance, and we'll fall far behind them."

She seemed a bit anxious, her fingers unconsciously tapping on the table.

Brook felt that Hermione's words made a lot of sense.

He couldn't refute them.

But what did it matter?

He had already seen through many things.

Sometimes, the gap between people is greater than the gap between people and dogs.

Some can be compensated by diligence later in life.

Some gaps can be compensated by diligence later in life, but some gaps are predetermined from the moment of birth.

He could score a hundred points because he could only score a hundred points.

And those geniuses scored a hundred points because the test only had a hundred points.

This is the fundamental difference between people.

Besides that, the formation of classes is inherently like this.

Why did ancient Daxia books not have punctuation marks?

It was precisely to set a threshold for learning, preventing ordinary people from self-studying.

Those clans could then maintain a monopoly on knowledge and stabilize their own status.

Regarding Hermione's worries, Brook wasn't worried at all.

Desire brings suffering; freedom from desire brings strength.

Having lived another life, it was all about being carefree and happy.

If he had any goal.

There was only one.

If he ever had the ability, he would eradicate the "Little Day."

Brook's thoughts drifted. "8.19" seemed to be approaching, didn't it?

He really had to get involved.

"Brook, are you even listening to me?!"

Hermione's voice pulled him back to reality.

Her hands were constantly rubbing her wand.

She clearly wanted to try casting magic but was afraid of something going wrong, appearing very hesitant.

"I heard you." Brook looked helplessly at Hermione.

This little girl became very unlikable whenever a learning-related question came up.

Then he cast his gaze towards the book in Hermione's hand.

The page happened to be about the Engorgement Charm.

As soon as he saw it, he immediately learned it.

He even had a feeling that he could cast it without a wand.

(⊙o⊙)

Brook frowned slightly.

He summoned his personal panel in his mind.

Host: Brook Lott

Age: 11 years old

Identity: Unenrolled Hogwarts freshman

Host Rewards: Door-Door Fruit, Occlumency, "Asian Evil Arts," Top-tier Dark Arts Talent

There were only four rewards, none related to Charms talent.

As for him inherently possessing top-tier Charms talent.

He wouldn't believe it even if he was beaten to death.

Then there was only one explanation—the Engorgement Charm was a Dark Arts spell.

Brook took out "Clear Wind."

He had named both wands.

The normal one was called "Clear Wind," the wand he planned to primarily use at Hogwarts.

As for the other wand, shaped like a small sword, he named it "Bright Moon," to serve as a hidden trump card.

He pointed his wand at the Little Day gummies in front of him.

"Engorgio!"

The gummies immediately expanded more than tenfold, becoming as large as a football.

Hermione looked at Brook with the eyes of someone seeing a monster.

Immediately after, she also pointed her wand at a gummy.

"Engorgio!"

But the gummy remained unchanged.

She wasn't convinced and chanted the spell several more times at the gummy, but she still couldn't make it expand.

A sense of frustration welled up.

Her little face crumpled, and tears began to well up in her eyes (ㄒ▽ㄒ).

"Am I not suited to be a Wizard?"

Brook gently patted Hermione's little head.

"What, giving up already?"

Hermione looked up, a hint of grievance and defiance in her eyes.

"Want to learn? I'll teach you!"

Brook didn't say any comforting words.

He understood Hermione.

When it came to learning, comfort was the most useless thing for Hermione.

Teaching her to learn was the best comfort.

"Can I really do it?" Hermione's voice still trembled slightly.

"Give it a try!"

Brook shrugged and began to meticulously explain his understanding and insights into the Engorgement Charm.

This was only because Hermione hadn't had classes at Hogwarts yet.

Otherwise, she would have realized that Brook explained it even more thoroughly than Flitwick.

It wasn't that Brook's teaching level was higher than Flitwick's.

Rather, for young Wizards, it was good enough if they could cast the spell.

Understanding the essence of a spell was content for advanced classes.

Hermione truly lived up to her reputation as a genius.

Following Brook's guidance, in less than half an hour.

She was able to successfully use the Engorgement Charm.

Although she couldn't achieve Brook's tenfold effect, making objects expand two or three times was quite easy.

A smile reappeared on Hermione's face.

While Hermione was practicing the Engorgement Charm.

Brook also roughly flipped through "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection" and "Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1."

He found that "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection" only contained one goblin spell.

It was the one that could give the cursed person a severe cold, causing a continuous runny nose, and it was considered Dark Arts.

He couldn't learn the rest just by reading them once.

However, in "Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1," he could instantly learn many spells.

The Fire-Making Spell, the Softening Charm, the Dancing Feet Spell, the Tickling Charm, the Severing Charm, and even the Levitation Charm were considered Dark Arts.

Is this reasonable?

While he could understand the first few, as they could cause some degree of harm when used on people.

But the Levitation Charm?

To make someone fly tens of thousands of meters high, either suffocating or falling to their death?

Looking at these spells, Brook did recall a genuinely legitimate Dark Arts spell.

Avada Kedavra.

He remembered this spell not because of the movies.

But because of a video he stumbled upon.

It seemed to involve first using a curse as a marker, then creating a branching Avada lightning chain.

It was very spectacular.

Much more like magic than in the movies.
