Chapter 4: Attend class

After thanking them and seeing the two prefects off, Clarence returned to his single room dormitory to pack his luggage.

Although the space in the small attic was not large, it didn't feel cramped at all; it even had a standard private bathroom, a wardrobe, a bedside table, a shoe rack, and everything else, as well as a delicate bookshelf placed next to the small fireplace.

In front of the small fireplace, there was a desk with a backrest chair, and on one side, there was also a small sofa with a matching coffee table.

The bedsheets and quilts on the bed were all new, and if you got a little closer, you could still smell the unique scent of fresh grass and sunshine.

After packing his luggage and personal items, and also putting the books he would need for tomorrow's classes into his school bag according to the timetable—as for why Clarence had a timetable when other new students didn't?

That was naturally the Female Prefect's special consideration, though it was likely also out of concern that Clarence, living alone, might oversleep and be late on the second day, which is why she gave him the timetable in advance.

After packing his textbooks and practicing simplified skills for a while, Clarence washed up and went to bed.

The next day, due to his long-standing habit, he woke up early, washed up, then slung his school bag over his shoulder and left the common room, following the route from the previous night to the Great Hall.

At this time, dawn had just broken, and in the Great Hall, besides himself, there wasn't a soul, not even a ghost.

This 'ghost' was literal, referring to the ghosts in Hogwarts Castle.

Sitting at the Ravenclaw long table, looking at the empty tabletop, Clarence thought for a moment, then tapped the table with his hand and said, "Please give me a breakfast!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a normal Great Britain breakfast indeed appeared out of thin air on the table in front of him.

"Thank you, and next time, could I also have a cup of warm milk?"

There was no need for 'next time'; as soon as Clarence finished speaking, a cup of steaming milk appeared next to his plate.

After eating and drinking his fill, he checked the time; there was still some time before the first class of the morning, so Clarence didn't immediately go to familiarize himself with the route to the classrooms.

Instead, he inquired along the way with portraits and moving suits of armor, eventually finding the location of the library.

After confirming the library's location, he returned the way he came, and then, by asking around, found the Charms Class classroom.

According to the timetable, today was Thursday, with two classes in the morning and two in the afternoon and evening.

The two morning classes were Charms Class, taken with Gryffindor, and Defense Against the Dark Arts Class, taken with Slytherin.

The afternoon was Transfiguration Class with Slytherin, and the evening was History of Magic with Gryffindor!

He glanced at the duration of each class on the timetable again and found that there was more break time; according to this timetable, the learning atmosphere wasn't too tense, but rather quite relaxed.

When he finally found the Charms Class classroom, he discovered that someone was already inside, and this person was not only the Charms Class Professor but also the Dean of Ravenclaw.

Last night in the common room, he had heard the male prefect mention Professor Flitwick, the Dean.

Although he was very short due to having half Goblin blood, one should not underestimate this Dean; his achievements and attainments in the field of magic were extraordinarily remarkable.

Not only was he a dueling master, but he had even won the Duel Competition, making him a powerful Wizard.

According to the Magic World's classification of adult Wizard strength, Flitwick belonged to the level of a Professor, who was even more powerful than an Elite Auror.

The Magic World's classification of adult Wizard levels is divided into Ordinary Adult Wizard, Auror, and Elite Auror.

An Auror is equivalent to a detective in ordinary society, while an Elite Auror is a level stronger than an ordinary Auror.

Above the Elite Auror level is the level of 'proper' Professors in magic academies.

As for why even the title of 'Professor' in a magic academy is classified within the Wizard strength ranking system?

It's because 'proper' Professors in magic academies are often those who have reached an extremely high, or even ultimate, level of achievement and attainment in a certain field, making them stronger than Elite Aurors in terms of power.

Above that are the levels of Great Wizard and magic King, like Dumbledore and Grindelwald, signifying the King of magic!

Of course, reaching the magic King level doesn't mean a Wizard's strength has peaked; there are even higher levels above it, but those are beyond Clarence's current knowledge.

This classification of adult Wizard strength was something he heard Snape mention on the train yesterday, as such things wouldn't be recorded in books.

In short, Professor Flitwick is extremely powerful, especially since he is a dueling master, highly skilled in combat-oriented Charms and magic.

Furthermore, Flitwick only came to teach at Hogwarts in recent years, and becoming the Dean of Ravenclaw only happened last year.

Clarence was very surprised that someone had arrived in the Charms Class classroom even earlier than him, and that person was Professor Flitwick.

Professor Flitwick was equally surprised, never expecting a young Wizard to arrive so early on the second day of school, and looking at his height and his tender yet extremely beautiful small face, wasn't this the new student who had just enrolled, who left a very deep impression on all the teachers and students at last night's opening feast?

After his surprise, Clarence was the first to greet him, and Professor Flitwick, while tidying his teaching materials, chatted with him.

Seeing how he had to step on stacked books to reach things, making it quite troublesome, Clarence left his seat, went to the podium, pulled out his wand, and looked at Professor Flitwick with a questioning gaze.

Whether it was out of a desire to see Clarence's magic or some other thought, Professor Flitwick did not stop him but looked at him with anticipation.

He intended to use Transfiguration to transform a set of stairs for Professor Flitwick, with four wheels, capable of increasing or decreasing height, and also able to move around, complete with handrails and small-sized desks and chairs perfectly suited for him.

Coincidentally, considering there would be Transfiguration Class this afternoon, Clarence specifically chose to practice Transfiguration last night, which just happened to raise his Transfiguration skill to level 11.

Although level 11 might still seem like an introductory level, every 10 levels is a small watershed, a small threshold; crossing it might not bring immense improvement, but a slight increase is still there.

At the very least, if his Transfiguration was only level 10, even if Clarence could perform very complex transformations, the more complex they were, the shorter the duration the magic would last.

However, with Transfiguration at level 11, past level 10, as long as he wanted and supplied enough magic power, he could maintain the transformation for a long time.

This 'long time' would be a minimum of three to four years, and even if he re-supplied magic power before the magic completely disappeared, he could continue to extend the duration of the transformation.

At a level 10 proficiency, maintaining such a complex transformation for even a day would be considered good, as this doesn't just require magic power but also factors like mastery and deep understanding of the magic.

As the object gradually transformed exactly as Clarence imagined, the set of stairs he had envisioned in his mind was quickly brought into being.

Professor Flitwick, who watched from beginning to end, couldn't help but widen his eyes, his heart filled with shock, astonished that such a level of Transfiguration could really be performed by a young Wizard who had just enrolled and hadn't even officially attended a single class!

One must know that Clarence's transformation was not only very complex but also involved substance conversion and changes in volume.

Transformations of this complexity would only begin to be taught to students in their fourth or fifth year, categorized as intermediate Transfiguration.

Furthermore, such a complex transformation requires an immense amount of magic power, something that a first-year young Wizard like Clarence simply shouldn't be able to achieve, and so...

It was clear that this young Wizard, whether in terms of intellect or magic power, was a genius, and of the top-tier kind.
