Chapter 6: Healing magic skills

Just as the first-year students had all arrived and settled down for class, Professor Flitwick immediately awarded Clarence five points for his superb Levitation Charm demonstrated before class!

He also stated that during this lesson, Clarence could serve as a temporary teaching assistant, helping to instruct the other first-year students. The reward for being a temporary teaching assistant was exemption from homework.

The fact that Flitwick awarded Clarence points and made him a temporary teaching assistant to help instruct other students before even officially starting the lecture naturally caused an uproar among the new students.

Conversely, they didn't seem to care much about the homework, or perhaps they were too surprised by the temporary teaching assistant role and thus overlooked the homework issue.

Of course, although this matter caused an uproar, as it was their first official class after enrollment, even if the students found it incredible, they dared not directly contradict the Professor.

As for Clarence himself, he didn't refuse to act as a temporary teaching assistant, as there were benefits for him to gain. Although he wasn't the one lecturing, he had the opportunity to teach his classmates, thereby acquiring a significant number of simplification points.

After Flitwick officially began lecturing, Clarence discovered that the first half of the class would be dedicated to theory, and practical application would only begin in the second half.

So, he wasn't needed to assist in teaching the other students yet; instead, he dutifully recorded the information from the small blackboard along with everyone else.

Given Clarence's mastery of the Levitation Charm, he naturally had his own understanding and insights, which he meticulously recorded in his new notebook.

Once all the young Wizards had finished recording, a good portion of the class time had passed. Then, Flitwick began instructing them on how to chant spells and how to wave their wands.

Seeing that most of the young Wizards had taken notes, he called Clarence to the podium, telling him to go and correct or answer questions for anyone who made a mistake or had an issue.

Indeed, having Clarence as a temporary teaching assistant to help with instruction truly made things much easier for Flitwick, and he didn't have to worry about him teaching incorrectly or making mistakes.

Because Flitwick had previously discovered that even he, regarding this magic, especially the foundational aspects, might not have as comprehensive a grasp as Clarence. Therefore, he naturally didn't need to worry about him teaching incorrectly or encountering problems he couldn't handle.

Clarence, while excited about gaining many simplification points, also felt somewhat annoyed by some classmates' deliberate mistakes.

So why would those first-year students deliberately make mistakes?

Naturally, it was because they hoped Clarence would stay by their side longer, and it would be even better if he could teach them hands-on.

This was particularly evident among the Gryffindor students in the class, such as Lily and James Potter, who clearly made intentional mistakes, hoping to use the opportunity to have Clarence come over to correct or instruct them.

This made Clarence quite exasperated, mainly because this kind of behavior wouldn't increase his simplification points!

But no matter how annoyed he was, he still had to go and correct them, because he wanted to establish a persona of being knowledgeable, "Fond of Teaching", and helpful to his classmates.

If this persona was established, it would be more convenient for him to guide and teach his classmates in the future, allowing him to acquire a large number of simplification points more effectively.

So the persona couldn't collapse; he could only endure it...

It was only after Flitwick gradually noticed this situation and deliberately warned the students that Clarence felt some relief.

However, his relief didn't last long because he couldn't stand it anymore and taught a Gryffindor male student hands-on. Whether this guy was too precocious or too full of youthful vigor, he ended up with a nosebleed...

At this point, Flitwick no longer dared to let Clarence continue as a teaching assistant, correcting and instructing the young Wizards.

This was just a nosebleed; if he kept teaching, who knows what more troublesome things might happen.

So he told him to take the Gryffindor with the nosebleed to the school infirmary to see Madam Pomfrey, the school nurse.

Although reluctant, since it was Professor Flitwick's instruction, Clarence could only help the nosebleeding Gryffindor freshman leave the classroom, then ask the portraits or ghosts along the way to find the infirmary, where he met Madam Pomfrey, as Professor Flitwick had mentioned.

After briefly explaining the condition of the nosebleeding Gryffindor freshman to the still young and beautiful Madam Pomfrey, Clarence quietly stood aside and watched her perform various diagnostic magic with her wand.

The examination was quickly completed. Madam Pomfrey looked at Clarence with a strange gaze, then said, "There's nothing wrong, it's just a normal nosebleed. It doesn't even need treatment; it will heal on its own. But I think if you..."

"Madam Pomfrey, my name is Clarence Stewart, just call me Clarence..." Perhaps realizing that she didn't know his name yet, Clarence quickly introduced himself.

"Alright, Clarence, I think if you could step outside, or not be so... uh, close to this young Wizard, his nose would heal very quickly on its own!" Madam Pomfrey tried her best to make her words more subtle, but how to put it, the meaning conveyed still made Clarence feel very awkward.

Seeing Clarence flustered and embarrassed, Madam Pomfrey knew her words might have still hurt the handsome young Wizard, so she could only clear her throat and then dryly said, "Never mind, I'll just use Healing magic to treat this young Wizard!"

Watching Madam Pomfrey cast a spell with her wand at the nosebleeding classmate, Clarence curiously asked, "Madam Pomfrey, is the spell you used Healing magic?"

"...To be precise, I used an emergency spell, but it's also a type of Healing magic. Unfortunately, the school doesn't teach Healing..." Madam Pomfrey might have been in a more lenient mood due to her previous words, which is why she took the time to explain a little to Clarence.

After hearing Madam Pomfrey's explanation, Clarence's skill panel actually reacted. Upon opening it, it showed a new skill, but it was still in an unsimplified and unactivated state, and simplifying and activating it required a full 10 simplification points.

Fortunately, he had acquired a good number of simplification points by teaching his classmates in Charms Class earlier; otherwise, Clarence would probably have had to find another way to get them.

After using his mind to simplify and activate it, a large amount of knowledge immediately flowed into his brain, making Clarence somewhat dazed. However, Madam Pomfrey didn't notice his abnormal reaction because her gaze wasn't on him.

However, after coming back to his senses and looking at the skill panel again, especially the newly simplified Healing magic skill, the description behind it revealed that the method of practice was so... embarrassing!
