Chapter 5: This System Is Probably Here to Screw Me Over, Right?
Shortly after the Patronus Phoenix left the Headmaster's Office,
Dumbledore smiled as he informed Douglas:
"Douglas, I think you can go find Minerva now."
"Otherwise, if you stay too long, she'll think we're having hotpot in the office again..."
Douglas surveyed the office but did not find the special hotpot cauldron for Hogwarts.
Dumbledore knew what Douglas was looking at and shrugged.
He gave Douglas a look that seemed to say, 'Why can't you see it? Don't you know?'
"You know, Severus often comes to my office."
"I wouldn't want to challenge the nerve strength of a Potion master..."
After speaking, he even winked upstairs.
Douglas understood.
When he returned to Professor McGonagall's office,
The pastry Douglas had given her on the desk had already been opened.
Professor McGonagall said while looking at a document:
"It tastes good! Thank you, Mr. Holmes!"
"Albus just told me, so..."
At this point, Professor McGonagall, who had always been serious, showed a slight smile.
"Welcome, Professor Holmes!"
"I think Pomona (Pomona Sprout, Hogwarts Herbology Class teacher, and also the Dean of Hufflepuff House) will be very happy when she finds out!"
Douglas smiled politely and said modestly:
"It's still a temporary appointment for now. I hope the Professor will guide and help me a lot in the future!"
Professor McGonagall nodded decisively, then handed over the parchment in her hand:
"Of course, no problem."
"But first, take a look at this timetable."
"Because currently, the school only lacks this one position, and other Professors' classes have already been arranged."
"So basically, your current class times are all set."
"Of course, if you have anything, you can ask Severus to cover for you."
"I think he would be very happy..."
Douglas took the timetable parchment with a smile on his face.
Immediately, his smile froze on his face as if a Petrificus Totalus had been cast.
"Professor, the entire timetable?"
"Are all these my classes?"
Professor McGonagall nodded and raised an eyebrow:
"Of course. Oh, I almost forgot."
"You've probably only seen the student version of the timetable before."
"Professors aren't as relaxed as you might imagine..."
Douglas suddenly regretted not having agreed to Dumbledore's suggestion earlier about having two Professors teach this subject together.
Hearing Professor McGonagall's tone, Douglas felt underestimated and immediately said:
"Oh, merlin's beard, look at this timetable."
"I mean, our classes are so few."
Professor McGonagall ???
Looking at Professor McGonagall's expression of disbelief, as if she had misheard him.
Douglas pointed to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Class exclusive timetable and spoke eloquently:
"Professor, you see, basically all our classes are from 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM."
"Of course, except for Astronomy Class, which is at 11:00 PM."
"The rest of the time, we haven't fully utilized it."
"I felt this when I was a student; we could totally add a morning reading time from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM,"
"to memorize History of Magic and other textual content, and so on."
"And in the evening, we could..."
Professor McGonagall listened as Douglas became more and more excited, initially finding some sense in his words.
Later, she looked at him with a strange expression.
"Mr. Holmes, I think, if I recall correctly, you weren't so diligent during your school days!"
"You were late for Transfiguration Class almost ten times alone."
Douglas quickly said:
"Ahem, Professor, I remember I explained..."
Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow:
"Yes, I remember, you were always busy cooking in the kitchen, fertilizing fruit trees, oh, and right, you even grew your own vegetables... I almost forgot, you even cast an Incantation on the ladies of Ravenclaw House over a few fruits, which resulted in a brawl among the Four Great Houses."
Douglas shrugged:
"Professor, you know, even though I was given detention back then, I still don't think I was wrong..."
Seven years ago, when Douglas was in his third year.
With Hagrid's help, he cleared a small orchard by the forest.
He patrolled it from dawn till dusk every day... One day, Douglas, rushing back after class, happened to see a group of girls in Ravenclaw House robes in the orchard.
If they had only eaten a few, he wouldn't have been angry.
He might even have used the opportunity to get closer to those girls.
But when he went in, he only saw branches and leaves scattered everywhere, and fruits that had been bitten once and were clearly unripe.
Seeing Douglas enter, one of them even smiled and said:
"Your apples and bananas are much worse than what Hogwarts provides..."
Perhaps those girls didn't mean any harm, it was just that they had little experience with ordinary things.
But at that moment, Douglas still couldn't hold back, after all, the entire orchard had cost him a lot of effort.
Pointing to a half-eaten fruit on the ground, he immediately cursed:
"Are Ravenclaws a bunch of talking female monkeys...?"
Clearly, they weren't monkeys, but a group of Witches with fighting power.
They immediately drew their wands.
Douglas was no ordinary person; amidst the attack of those girls,
he disarmed their wands.
And turned the broken branches into ropes.
He tied those girls to the wooden stakes outside the orchard.
The magic world is not big, and Hogwarts is even smaller.
Who doesn't have friends and family? Of course, early romance is also a tradition at Hogwarts.
Finally... 3 Gryffindors were sent to the hospital.
9 Ravenclaws were sent to the hospital.
5 Slytherins were sent to the hospital.
0 Hufflepuffs were sent to the hospital.
The consequence of that battle was that Douglas was punished by a smiling Professor Sprout to work in the orchard for a week.
The Deans of the other three Houses were even more displeased, punishing the participants to take care of those fruit trees without magic for a semester.
What made the other Deans even more speechless was that
afterward, Douglas expressed his willingness to supply fruit to the school's Professors and staff, as well as the Prefects of each House.
The orchard could become a place for problem students to be punished with labor... Finally, the conversation ended with Professor McGonagall stating that she would not interfere with how other Professors taught their classes.
Then she mercilessly told Douglas that the Floo Network connection time had expired.
If he didn't want to take the magic bus for several hours, he'd best return through the fireplace now.
After all, the distance from the northern Scotland Highlands where Hogwarts is located to London is not short.
Perhaps Dumbledore, without using his full power, would not use Apparition directly to London.
When Douglas stepped out of the fireplace again, he was already back home in Surrey.
"Cleaned up!"
After cleaning the dust off himself,
he quickly walked towards the basement.
That was the place he specifically set up for magic experiments.
Leaning back on the single sofa, after finding a comfortable position for himself,
"System? Scholar Cultivation System?"
Douglas suddenly felt an inexplicable, embarrassing sense of chuunibyou.
【Scholar Cultivation System】

【When points accumulate to 10,000, the store will open.】
...【Due to the host suffering from an unknown curse, which will activate after one year, it can be dispelled by consuming 10,000 points!】
"Curse! Ten thousand points?"
Douglas was still immersed in the bewildered shock of the information, instantly startled by the red text that appeared in his mind.
Based on the explanation provided by the system, combined with the timetable Professor McGonagall gave him,
he roughly calculated that an academic year basically involved over 190 days of classes, with usually seven classes a day.
That's over 1300 classes. Even if he worked diligently, ensuring all class ratings were above 9 points,
he would barely accumulate 10,000 points in one academic year.
If the comprehensive score and student pass rate for exams were higher, then 10,000 points would be very easy.
But that last deduction item must be a joke.
This system is probably not here to help me, but to screw me over.
