Chapter 25: We're here

“Kadabra!”

Kadabra stared intently at the Shiny Kirlia walking towards him. He remembered clearly that the mysterious Pokémon who saved him had said that any Pokémon wanting to pass through here must be tested by him.

Although the other male Shiny Kirlia looked very much like a human, their aura wouldn't lie; both of them were Pokémon.

Perhaps that male Shiny Kirlia was some kind of mutated species, but only one of them needed to pass.

Don't ask him why he knew they were Shiny Pokémon and not just differently colored Pokémon. He had simply been in the forest for a long time, not an idiot; basically, every now and then, Pokémon like Gardevoir would pass through here.

He had seen Shiny Pokémon more than once, though a Shiny Kirlia was indeed a first.

The two Pokémon stared at each other for a moment, and Kadabra decided to strike first.

A seven-colored Psybeam erupted from the spoon in his hand, shooting towards the Shiny Kirlia.

Shiny Kirlia didn't panic. As the Psybeam approached, she subtly shifted her body and dodged Kadabra's attack.

Watching Shiny Kirlia's movements, Kadabra snorted disdainfully. Did she really think such a move couldn't be redirected?

The spoon in his hand moved slightly, and the Psybeam swept horizontally towards Shiny Kirlia's waist.

Shiny Kirlia had already seen through his thoughts, and she, too, unleashed a Psybeam towards Kadabra.

The two Psybeam collided in mid-air, and dust filled the entire battlefield.

Is she trying to obscure my vision with dust? It's a good strategy, but did she forget that I am a Psychic Pokémon?

Kadabra narrowed his foxy eyes, and a massive Confusion enveloped the field. No matter what Shiny Kirlia did, he would discover it.

“Kirlia. (Are you thinking that I forgot you're a Psychic Pokémon?)”

Shiny Kirlia's voice rang out from within the dust, making Kadabra's already small eyes narrow even further.

That's right, the Shiny Kirlia covered in dust hadn't made a rookie mistake; she just wanted Kadabra not to see her movements.

Dark-type energy gathered in her hand, and she beckoned towards the Kadabra she sensed, a red glow quietly merging into the dust.

This guy can read minds? Kadabra was a bit puzzled. He had just had that thought; how did the opponent know what he was thinking?

A red glow quietly merged into Kadabra's body from the shadows. Instantly, his thoughts changed. He now only wanted to severely teach this arrogant Shiny Kirlia, who had trespassed, a lesson.

Psybeam shot out into the dust as if it were free, focusing on overwhelming firepower.

Kadabra's movements on the Confusion-covered field were as dazzling as the sun. Shiny Kirlia, sensing his actions, quickly leaped forward, dodging the attacking Psybeam, each time narrowly avoiding its edge.

Clearly, even in his anger, Kadabra hadn't forgotten to use Psychic to Lock-On Shiny Kirlia's position.

But that was the extent of it.

After propping herself up with one hand and dodging another Psybeam, a blue light flashed in Shiny Kirlia's eyes, and then she vanished from her spot.

Immediately after, a much thicker Psybeam struck the spot where Shiny Kirlia had just been.

Feeling Shiny Kirlia disappear from the Confusion field, the red-eyed Kadabra grew even angrier, and his materialized Psychic power transformed into blades that scattered in all directions.

“Seriously, how can you even injure the audience?”

“Lao Mei, stop playing. We need to get back early.”

Yu Feng shook his head, his Psychic power also turning into blades, but unlike Kadabra's method, it didn't scatter. Instead, it condensed around his wrist.

He swung down at the Psycho Cut coming towards him, splitting it in two, then retreated to a safe spot and shouted to Lao Mei.

“Kirlia. (Got it.)”

Shiny Kirlia's voice came from in front of Kadabra. Even though he was cautious enough, he couldn't help but have his perception of space weakened due to his current state of anger.

Shiny Kirlia reappeared with a pure white glow wrapped around her legs, a dangerous aura swirling around her pristine limbs.

Feeling this dangerous aura, a hint of fear appeared in Kadabra's red eyes. He could feel that if he was hit, he would have no chance of victory.

“Kadabra!?”

He unhesitatingly tried to escape using Psychic, but no matter how he tried to connect with space, he couldn't use the move.

If he had a mirror, he would see a tiny 'x' with a red circle, which had appeared on his tail at some point.

Shiny Kirlia's pure white leg struck Kadabra's head with immense force, causing his eyes to bulge. Clearly, Shiny Kirlia was acting out of a desire for revenge.

A fierce roar echoed through the forest, and a flock of Pidgey scattered in panic towards the outskirts.

In the center of the large crater on the ground, Kadabra lay with spiral eyes, clearly incapacitated.

Shiny Kirlia slowly got up, gently brushed off non-existent dust, and skipped towards Yu Feng, looking like a well-behaved child.

“Don't be so playful; you might mess up.”

Yu Feng stroked Shiny Kirlia's antennae, then nodded at the suddenly appearing Hatterene.

Hatterene, who had appeared in the distance, was carrying the unconscious Kadabra, knocked out by Shiny Kirlia. She also nodded at Yu Feng, and a blue light flashed again before she disappeared.

“Kirlia. (Looks like there shouldn't be any problems ahead?)”

Shiny Kirlia also saw that Hatterene. She was one of the guards permanently stationed here. If she came, did it mean they could pass the subsequent checkpoints directly?

“I don't know, but be prepared. What if they ambush us again?”

Yu Feng tidied his clothes, smoothing out the wrinkles on his sleeves, and continued deeper into the forest.

Shiny Kirlia followed Yu Feng step by step.

Perhaps the Hatterene ahead had informed the gatekeepers further on, as most of them didn't come out. The few who did only greeted Yu Feng and his group before disappearing.

“Kirlia! (How much further is it?)”

After bidding farewell to a Gardevoir guarding a checkpoint, Shiny Kirlia straightened her somewhat stiff smile.

“Soon, I guess... No, we're already here.”

Yu Feng was calculating the distance and about to reply to his Lao Mei when he felt as if he had stepped through a thin film, and dazzling light filled his eyes.

He figured that even if he didn't say anything, his Lao Mei would know they had arrived.
