Chapter 7: Ohmu Research Institute

On the way to Professor Oak's Laboratory with Auntie Hanako, Yu Feng subtly extracted a lot of useful information.

First, the general world view here is not much different from the normal Pokémon world.

It's just that there's an additional China Alliance region, yes, the legendary hometown of Arcanine.

Although it's unclear why this is the case, with the Champions and Elite of other regions remaining unchanged,

this China Alliance region stands out like ink in a basin of clear water.

The general trajectory of China Alliance in this world is not much different from his previous world.

For example, the First Emperor, who possessed a Black Rayquaza; Cao Cao, the true hero; Liu Bei, the ideal hero; and His Majesty Erfeng, who possessed Ho-Oh.

Leaving these historical figures aside for now, the Kanto and Johto regions are currently sub-regions under the China Alliance region.

The China Alliance officially recognizes one Champion, four Elite Four, and eighteen Gym Leaders.

Of course, according to Delia, Yu Feng understood that all officially recognized Gym Leaders have Elite Four Level strength.

That is, the eighteen Gym Leaders each have at least three or more Elite Four Level Pokémon, and the Elite Four each have at least one Champion level Pokémon.

The Champion's configuration is unknown, but even with the Dodo Bird attempting the China Alliance Champion Challenge twice, he couldn't pass the second Elite's stage.

It can be concluded that the China Alliance Champion can at least overwhelm the Elite Four below him.

Just as Yu Feng was using his Psychic ability to sort through the information he had gathered, Delia had already led him to a very luxurious courtyard.

“Xiao Feng, we've arrived at Professor Oak's Laboratory.”

Delia gently reminded Yu Feng, who was deep in thought, to prevent him from bumping into the gate.

Then she rang the doorbell, waiting for Professor Oak's response.

Not long after, the screen on the gate lit up, and a researcher's face appeared.

“It's Miss Delia, please come in quickly.”

After seeing it was Delia, the researcher opened the courtyard gate without much thought.

“This is Professor Oak's Laboratory. The mountains behind it and the sea further back are all within the scope of Professor Oak's Laboratory.”

Delia introduced the laboratory to Yu Feng, as he was surely visiting for the first time.

“This is where Professor Oak usually conducts his experiments.”

Delia briefly guided Yu Feng past some important areas, arriving at a door that was distinctly different from the others, and pointed to it, saying to Yu Feng.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

“Professor, I’m coming in.”

Without waiting for Professor Oak's reply, Delia pushed open the door and led Yu Feng inside.

Upon entering, Delia and Yu Feng saw Professor Oak busy with his back to them.

“Ah, Xiao Feng, please don’t mind him. Professor Oak is very busy and often forgets to eat.”

“Although there are many researchers here at the laboratory, none of them know how to cook.”

“So, I come every day to bring the Professor something to eat.”

Delia looked at Professor Oak, who ignored them, assuming he was engrossed in his research again.

She explained the reason to Yu Feng, then opened the basket she had been carrying and placed the food on the table.

Although Auntie Hanako's explanation was very normal and consistent with the Professor Oak in Yu Feng's memory, he smelled a familiar scent in the air.

It was very familiar, but he hadn't encountered that thing for so long that Yu Feng couldn't recall what it was for a moment.

He just felt that if Auntie Hanako discovered what Professor Oak was doing right now, he would be lectured.

“Professor, it’s time to eat.”

After setting out the food, Delia called Professor Oak to eat, as usual.

Although interrupting his research was not good, according to other researchers, they hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch today.

Of course, when Delia walked to Professor Oak's side and saw what he was doing, the smile on her face faltered.

“Professor, how many times have I told you not to cook instant noodles in a beaker? It’s not nutritious.”

Delia's expression was a bit strained as she looked at the instant noodles cooking in the beaker. She had planned for everything but hadn't expected Professor Oak to be secretly cooking noodles here.

Her good upbringing prevented Delia from saying anything harsh, and with Yu Feng present, she also couldn't say anything too serious out of consideration for the Professor's dignity.

“Ah, Delia, ahem, isn't it because I'm hungry?”

“Eh, what is this?”

Professor Oak awkwardly turned to look. Although Delia was right, instant noodles were convenient, and he could cook them in a beaker.

However, Professor Oak became interested when he saw the two small blue radish heads following Delia.

He meticulously examined Shinny Kirlia's body, pinched the antennae on its head, and then picked up its hand to observe it carefully.

Shinny Kirlia, experiencing this for the first time, didn't react immediately and stood stunned, allowing Professor Oak to examine it.

“Professor Oak, that's very rude!”

Although Delia didn't recognize Shinny Kirlia's uniqueness, a Pokémon that could interest Professor Oak, given his status, would not be a simple type.

But observing someone else's Pokémon like that was truly rude, especially with its Trainer present.

Moreover, Delia could clearly see Shinny Kirlia's gaze becoming increasingly dangerous. For everyone's sake, she had to stop Professor Oak's actions, but unfortunately, her warning came too late.

“Kirlia!”

“Ah! Numb, numb.”

Shinny Kirlia, with a very dangerous look in its eyes, quietly enveloped itself in golden electrical currents, and a Thunderbolt struck Professor Oak. Of course, she knew the severity of the situation; the current was just enough to stun someone.

Yu Feng gasped when he saw Professor Oak collapse after being hit by the Thunderbolt. Good heavens, Professor Oak's physical fitness was too good! Although Lao Mei had held back, taking a Thunderbolt only made him fall and cry out in numbness. Is this the super true Pallet Town native? Truly terrifying.

“Ahem, so, who are you?”

He didn't know if it was a unique physique of Pallet Town or something, but in Yu Feng's eyes, Professor Oak quickly recovered from the paralysis and asked Yu Feng's origin with a serious expression.

He needed to know that his laboratory wasn't a place one could just walk into. If he couldn't explain himself, he would have to let him experience the prowess of his old partner.

Yu Feng took out the token given by the Clan Leader, a translucent, light pink crystal token, seemingly naturally formed without any artificial processing.

Seeing the token Yu Feng produced, even Professor Oak, a well-traveled man, couldn't help but be surprised. The last time he saw such a Psychic token was quite a while ago.

“Xiao Feng, is this token yours?”

Although it was clear that no one could forge this token, and the boy was accompanied by a Shinny Kirlia, which should confirm its authenticity, for safety's sake, he still had to ask where this token came from.

“Yes, Auntie Clan Leader gave it to me.”

“Auntie Clan Leader, huh?”

Hearing Yu Feng's answer, Professor Oak murmured a few words, then put on his signature smile and said to Yu Feng: “I understand. In a few days, it will be time for new Trainers to set off. How about you receive your First Partner Pokémon with them?”

“I have no problem with that.”

Yu Feng was quite straightforward. After all, being able to receive a First Partner Pokémon was thanks to the Clan Leader and her people.

“That's fine, it will also take some time for your Pokédex to be delivered.”

Saying that, Professor Oak rummaged through his lab bench and pulled out a list full of First Partner Pokémon. He handed the list to Yu Feng and said: “This list contains the First Partner Pokémon I can arrange for you, along with detailed descriptions. Just let me know in advance if you have a preference.”

“Oh, oh, are you done? But speaking of which, Xiao Feng, you probably don't have a place to stay these next few days, do you?”

“How about it? Would you like to stay at my house for a few days? Ash will definitely get along with you.”

Watching the two finish their discussion, Delia walked up smiling. Hearing that Xiao Feng would be staying for a few days, Delia immediately invited him to her home.

She figured Ash and Xiao Feng were about the same age, and they should be able to get along. Plus, Ash was also one of those going on a journey this year, so it would be even better if he could travel with Xiao Feng.

“Yes, Xiao Feng, Ash will definitely get along with you.”

Even Professor Oak urged Yu Feng to stay at Delia's house for the time being, as traveling back and forth was quite troublesome.

“Okay, then I'll trouble Auntie Hanako.”

Yu Feng thought for a while. He indeed had no place to stay at the moment. Although he had a tent packed by his mother, who would want to sleep in a tent when they could sleep in a house? So, he accepted Auntie Hanako's invitation.

“Hahaha, Xiao Feng, you can also come to my laboratory to play whenever you have time.”

Professor Oak was also quite happy, as his favorite thing now, besides research, was seeing the joyful smiles of these young people when they received their first Pokémon.

However, before he could be happy for long, a burnt smell wafted around them.

Professor Oak's eyes narrowed, and his tone was very sad.

“My instant noodles!!!!!”
