“This is! Is this your Pokémon!”
Ash looked excitedly at the Shiny Kirlia following Yu Feng, his envy evident without words.
“Yes, she is my Pokémon.”
Yu Feng comforted the somewhat displeased Kirlia. If Ash hadn't had good intentions and hadn't been told in advance not to act, his Lao Mei would have probably already made a move.
Professor Oak, who had just taken a Thunderbolt, had something to say.
“You even have a Poké Ball!”
Ash then saw the Poké Ball that Yu Feng had shrunk and placed on his waist. He was tired of expressing his jealousy.
“Can I see your Pokémon? Please, please.”
Ash clasped his hands together in a bowing gesture, asking Yu Feng to let him see his Pokémon.
“Ash!”
Delia wanted to stop Ash’s rude behavior. Pokémon aren’t just for anyone to see.
Yu Feng waved his hand, indicating it was fine. In fact, even without Ash’s request, he was planning to ask Delia if he could release his Pokémon.
After all, they were all his good friends, and he wouldn't keep them in their Poké Balls for long if he could release them.
“It’s fine, I was just about to ask Delia… Mom if I could release my Pokémon.”
Yu Feng was about to say 'Auntie' but was met with Delia’s death glare, making him change his words abruptly.
“It’s fine, all the little ones can come out. Mom here has plenty of food.”
Delia reassured Yu Feng that she could afford food for a few Pokémon. If not, she could always ask Professor Oak for help.
Hearing Delia’s words, Yu Feng also let out a sigh of relief. If he couldn't release them, he would have had to find a place to take them to eat.
Yu Feng took three Poké Balls from his belt, enlarged them, and tossed them gently into the air: “Come on out, everyone!”
Three red and white Poké Balls flew into the air, bursting with pure white light, and three little ones appeared from within.
“Muu!”
“Mii!”
“Ai Wan!”
As soon as the little ones appeared, they gathered around Yu Feng. Except for Indeedee, who stood slightly to the side with a reserved and tsundere demeanor, Shiny Milcery and Shiny Hatenna jumped onto his lap, asking for head pats.
Yu Feng responded to each of their desires, even giving the tsundere Indeedee a head pat.
Watching Yu Feng interact with his Pokémon, Delia on the side smiled like an indulgent aunt, then looked at Ash, who was showing envious eyes.
Ash, this child, it was hard to say what was going on. If you said Pokémon didn't like him, usually Pokémon wouldn't attack him without reason.
But if you said they liked him, he still hadn't managed to catch a single Pokémon even though he was about to leave. And this was Pallet Town, where the nearby Pokémon were very friendly.
“Kirlia! (You guys, my older brother is mine!)”
Shiny Kirlia saw those little brats trying to hog her brother when she wasn't paying attention, and she no longer cared about maintaining her persona. She immediately sat in Yu Feng’s arms, declaring her ownership.
“Xiao Feng, what kind of Pokémon are they? I don’t think I’ve seen them around here.”
Ash looked at Indeedee and the others, his head nearly smoking as he tried to recall their names.
Seeing the mist rising from Ash’s head, Yu Feng couldn't help but laugh. Only the current Ash would think for so long.
“This pink one is Hatenna, she’s a Psychic-type Pokémon. By the way, she’s a very rare Shiny Pokémon too.”
“Muu!”
Yu Feng introduced the Hatenna on his left shoulder to Ash. Hatenna happily greeted Ash, and she didn't dislike him.
“Oh, oh! Her name is Hatenna?”
“Psychic-type? What’s a Psychic-type? What’s a Shiny Pokémon?”
Ash was very happy to see another unknown Pokémon, but then he became confused, looking at Yu Feng with curious eyes, hoping he could explain it to him.
“Ouch!”
Yu Feng and Delia both fell to the ground. Being bad at basics shouldn't be this bad; he should at least memorize the most fundamental types.
“Only you, Ash.”
Yu Feng, helped up by Indeedee, was truly helpless. As expected of the little dummy, he probably hadn't even memorized the type chart at this stage.
Delia also felt very helpless. Yu Feng, a child raised by Pokémon, had more knowledge than Ash, even though Ash often went to Professor Oak’s lab to play, and Professor Oak would likely give him extra lessons.
But he still hadn't memorized the most basic type effectiveness chart.
“There are currently eighteen known types, and Psychic-type is one of them.”
“As for Shiny Pokémon, they are anomalies within a species, with different colors from the normal ones in their species.”
“For example, my Hatenna is a Shiny Pokémon; normally, her hair would be light blue.”
“Of course, just because a Pokémon’s color is different from its species doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a Shiny Pokémon; it could also be an alternate-colored Pokémon.”
“The difference between the two is that Shiny Pokémon will have a sparkling effect around them, while alternate-colored Pokémon do not.”
Yu Feng explained to Ash what Psychic-type was, and what Shiny Pokémon and alternate-colored Pokémon were, until he was somewhat parched.
He took the juice Indeedee offered him and moistened his throat, feeling a bit more comfortable.
But when he looked back at Ash… well, his eyes had already turned into spirals, and his brain was starting to overload.
This knowledge was too vast for him.
“So that means Kirlia, Hatenna, and this little one are all Shiny Pokémon.”
Delia was the first to react, looking at Kirlia and Hatenna, who were shimmering around Yu Feng, and the Milcery wobbling on the table; all were rare Shiny Pokémon.
She had to admit, his Pokémon mother truly doted on him.
As for the faint light points around Yu Feng, she subconsciously ignored them. After all, having two Shiny Pokémon on him, a little residual effect was normal.
“Yes, Delia… Mom.”
Yu Feng corrected himself in time. To be honest, it was really hard to break the habit in a short time.
“Xiao Feng, you’re amazing!”
“Once I get Charmander, let’s have a 1v1 battle.”
Ash was initially quite down, as someone who hadn't even received his starter Pokémon already had four, while he had none.
However, being Ash, he quickly cheered up and challenged Yu Feng to a battle.
“Alright, let’s have a 1v1 battle once we both get our starter Pokémon.”
Yu Feng said, narrowing his eyes. He knew very well that Ash and he might not actually battle. If he was late like in the anime, he wouldn't even get Charmander, let alone the other two. But he was curious, if Ash arrived early, would he not get Pikachu?
Ash without Pikachu wasn't the complete Ash.
“Alright, alright, let’s eat first. After eating, you two should rest well.”
“Ash, remember to take Xiao Feng out for a walk tomorrow.”
Delia looked up at the time and realized it was getting late. She clapped her hands, calling everyone to dinner.
She also instructed Ash to take Yu Feng around Pallet Town tomorrow. After all, there was an age gap between her and Xiao Feng.
Ash and Xiao Feng were roughly the same age and both preparing for their journeys, so they might have a common language.
