Chapter 63: Alice's eyes

“The difference between animals and monsters lies in whether they are imbued with the power of Chaos; the magic core in their heart is the standard for judgment.”

After finishing his midday duel, Mil put it out of his mind and, as usual, returned to his classes.

The “History of Monster Evolution” class was neither too valuable nor too useless for Mil; it had some value, but not much.

“Dragons, as a species that broke free from the Abyss, are an exception. Their hearts retain a magic core, yet they have shed the taint of Chaos, which is the value of a dragon heart.”

About one-third of this course was dedicated to the introduction of dragons.

Interestingly, the lecturer on stage was also a member of the Dragon Race and had been teaching at Sibyl Magic Academy for almost 50 years.

“The phenomenon where male and female individuals of animals have significant differences in appearance is called sexual dimorphism, such as the mane of a male lion or the antlers of a male deer…”

At this point, the lecturer’s expression suddenly turned very serious, and he emphasized while tapping the blackboard:

“And the Dragon Race is the species with the greatest sexual dimorphism, with vastly different appearances after adulthood; in such a race, the possibility of same-sex attraction is zero.”

For some reason, the old lecturer’s eyes revealed a sense of pride, almost a feeling of arrogance.

“Furthermore… the Dragon Race also has an interesting characteristic: they are slightly obsessed with gold and jewels.”

Mil reorganized his thoughts internally…

The place where the chaos holy stone was kept was heavily guarded, with numerous mechanisms and tight security.

For a thousand years, the Demon Race had not been able to successfully reclaim it, which showed how difficult it was.

To launch a sneak attack on that place, in addition to having sufficient troops, a high degree of infiltration into the Holy City was also required.

Naturally, Mil needed to prepare in many ways, first by establishing a secret cult and the Abyss Society.

Then, he would notify the various Demon Race departments to send spies to infiltrate.

It was a long and arduous journey…

The subsequent classes were not very interesting to Mil. He pulled Lilith along and made up for the magic source number theory they should have studied last night.

In the eyes of others, Mil was so diligent and studious, giving off a vibe of…

Not caring about credits, not caring about grades, not even caring about graduation, just learning for himself, with a carefree attitude.

After returning home in the evening, Mil’s first order of business was to find Alice and get a clear explanation…

Alice’s room was decorated very warmly, like a delicate cream cake.

White silk curtains draped by the arched window, dyed a honey-like color by the setting sun, with lace tassels gently swaying in the evening breeze.

She was wearing a spaghetti-strap nightgown, lying on the bed reading a book, her two feet swinging back and forth.

Mil, sitting by the bed, asked with a cold face:

“Alice, what exactly did you say to Fafner last night?”

“Nothing much. That boy asked Alice out to dinner, and I didn’t want to go with him, so I told him… Brother Mil wouldn’t allow it.”

“That’s it?”

Mil frowned sharply.

The girl lying on the cloud-patterned silk sheets suddenly sprang up, her golden hair cascading down like liquid sunshine. She thought for a moment, then shook her head.

Her long hair fanned out like a jellyfish with the movement, and her dewy big eyes were full of innocence.

Behind her, a green “Cyclops”Pillow sat askew in the pile of pillows—

That was Mil’s birthday gift to Alice, chosen with his unique taste.

Alice got up and jumped onto Mil’s lap, resting her head on his chest, and asked with some concern:

“Brother Mil, in two more years, will Alice also have to marry someone else?”

She wore a pearl-white spaghetti-strap nightgown, its lace trim rippling with her jumping movements.

Mil pondered for a moment and said:

“I remember the doctrine doesn’t restrict the marriage of a Saintess. This would depend on Father’s or Grandfather Earl’s arrangements.”

If it were a child from an ordinary commoner family, not marrying would be fine, but for a noble family, it was almost impossible.

And the Church wouldn’t dare to let an Earl’s family die out, but they would impose many restrictions and requirements on the person who marries a Saintess.

Alice was silent for a while, feeling a bit down:

“Hmm… Didn’t they plan for us to marry before?”

“I’m already engaged to Lilith.”

Mil had always been indifferent about whom he married, perhaps because of his experiences in his previous life, he had no illusions about love.

And Alice, too, seemed not to care much about things other than money:

“That woman took Brother Mil away from Alice.”

Her voice trailed off, soft and sweet, like a wounded young animal whimpering softly.

“Don’t suddenly pull this trick. You didn’t object before, did you?”

Alice liked to act spoiled, but Mil knew very well that every time she acted spoiled, she had a strong ulterior motive.

Alice looked up, pouting, her golden eyes tinged with tears, staring intently at Mil, and said with a slight sob:

“Waaah… So that five million Thalers should belong to Alice!”

“Don’t change the subject! That five million Thalers was for curing her coma!”

“Is there any way I can avoid getting married?”

“Don’t even think about it. You have to inherit the family business. The Marquis of the Traveling Palace has always been the Emperor’s confidant; you’ll most likely have a marriage alliance with the royal family…”

At this point, Mil thought again. Otto was already married, and the Third Prince had no chance of turning things around.

Moreover, as Alice was the last of her line, given the current Emperor’s personality, he probably wouldn’t allow mergers between great noble families.

After a moment of thought, Mil shook his head:

“No, you might have a marriage alliance with other Earl families… Wait, a Dragon Prince isn’t impossible either!”

After all, the Dragon Race rarely interacted with the outside world. If they suddenly proposed a marriage alliance, both the Empire and the Lyata Family would consider it for future development, or make certain compromises.

“No! I don’t like Fafner, who’s… half-male, half-female.”

Alice suddenly shrieked and hugged Mil tightly. But then her eyes darted around, and another mischievous idea popped into her head:

“Brother Mil, there’s a way to keep Alice from getting married!”

“What way?”

“If Alice accidentally gets pregnant by Brother Mil… Mmmph—!”

Although there was no one else around, Mil instinctively clapped a hand over Alice’s mouth.

“Hiss… Can you please consider the reputation of the family, my reputation, the Church’s reputation, and the Duke’s face, even just a little?”

Mil sighed, but in Mil’s eyes, human order would soon face collapse:

“Alright, I have a way to help you avoid marriage. Don’t get any crazy ideas.”

“What way?”

“Hmph… When the whole world bows at my feet, naturally everything will be decided by me.”

Mil curled his lips, revealing a confident and sinister smile, and gently ruffled Alice’s head.

Then, Mil tossed Alice back onto the bed and prepared to begin his daily efforts.

After completing his sword training, physical training, and magic neural synchronization, he began preparing to write mobilization letters to the various Demon Race departments—

Inviting them to redeploy spies and infiltrate the Holy City.

After the previous batch of Demon Race spies was wiped out, the communication channels were also cut off. Now, only the Demon Lord could arrange for someone to deliver the letters.

Doing so also carried great risks—

There was a possibility of the information leaking, leading to the Church knowing that the Demon God’s Child had descended.

“Miley, I have already told you the importance of this matter, and it is out of trust in you that I entrust this great responsibility to you.”

“Understood. We will do our utmost and not fail our Lord’s important trust.”
