Chapter 10: Weapons and equipment and abandoned factories that appeared out of nowhere

Having said that, Xu Feng ignored Tang Zhen, turned around, and was about to get into the car and leave.

Seeing Xu Feng about to leave, Tang Zhen felt a pang of anxiety and was unwilling to let him go. He immediately grabbed him and explained, "Where did your mind go? I'm old enough to understand such basic principles. Sigh, to tell you the truth, I'm going into the mountains recently to collect some old goods. I'm unfamiliar with the place, so I want something to defend myself and scare people away."

"I'd be a ghost if I believed you. Let me tell you clearly, you can't get it."

"Damn it, are you my brother or not? If you are, help me out this once. Don't say you can't get it; you can't fool me."

Xu Feng paused, then slowly turned his strong body, frowning, his gaze sweeping back and forth across Tang Zhen's face several times. Finally, just as Tang Zhen was about to explode, he spoke, "Forget it, we're brothers. I've said my piece, and if you don't listen, there's nothing I can do. Since you've asked me, I'll help you out this once. I have a gun here, with ten thousand bullets. Do you want it or not?"

"No problem, I'll give you the money right now."

Tang Zhen's heart filled with joy upon hearing this, and he quickly nodded in agreement.

Actually, Tang Zhen also wanted a shotgun, but that kind of thing was too conspicuous, so he simply didn't mention it this time. After nodding, he asked, "Oh, right, when can I pick it up? The sooner the better."

"Wait aside, I'll make a call."

Xu Feng rolled his eyes at Tang Zhen, pulled out his phone, dialed a number, mumbled a few words, and then hung up.

In less than ten minutes, a black Honda pulled up in front of them. Immediately, a burly man, at least 1.9 meters tall, jumped out of the car and bowed to Xu Feng, calling out, "Brother Feng."

Xu Feng tilted his head and gestured towards Tang Zhen. The burly man looked at him carefully, then motioned for Tang Zhen to get into the back seat of the car. He then turned and pulled out a black plastic bag from the front passenger seat.

Tang Zhen got into the car, opened the plastic bag to inspect it, and found that it was indeed a brand-new black pistol, full of visual impact. Besides the pistol, there was also a magazine and dozens of bullets.

Xu Feng saw Tang Zhen's clumsy way of handling the pistol, curled his lips in disdain, and a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes, but he said nothing.

"The stuff is good, I'll take it!"

Tang Zhen nodded in satisfaction. Although he couldn't test the gun, given his relationship with Xu Feng, he could completely skip that step.

He casually pulled out a stack of crisp red bills from his leather bag and handed them directly to Xu Feng, but the latter didn't take them at all. The burly man beside him, however, quickly took them, checked them, and put them directly into his pocket.

Getting out of the car, Tang Zhen felt the heavy weight of the backpack and couldn't help but feel a surge of security.

After finishing his cigarette, Xu Feng flicked the butt away, then turned and poked Tang Zhen's chest with his finger: "Know your limits. If you really can't handle something, come find me. I still have some influence in the surrounding districts and counties. But if you're determined to walk into a dead end, don't blame me for not having time to collect your corpse!"

Tang Zhen chuckled and scolded, "I wouldn't dare trouble you, Young Master Xu. You're too busy. Besides having time for illicit affairs, you really don't have any free time. We've been brothers for almost twenty years, don't say I didn't warn you. Lust is a bone-scraping blade; it's best to quit early."

Xu Feng scoffed and chuckled, "Treat that as nonsense."

With that, Xu Feng gracefully got into the car, started the engine, extended his left hand out the window, and waved lightly, then sped off.

After Xu Feng left, Tang Zhen also hailed a taxi and headed straight for his home.

Another morning arrived. After washing up and filling his stomach, Tang Zhen took a car to a nearby hardware market.

After browsing for a while, he came to a stall and picked out a spring steel plate from a scrapped Soviet car, then bought some steel pipes and thin iron sheets. After paying, he headed to his next stop.

Bringing a pile of things back home, Tang Zhen rested for a bit, then plugged in the power and started working.

Due to his hobbies, Tang Zhen had some experience in making weapons and armor. He also frequented forums and online communities, and enjoyed making things, accumulating a lot of experience.

The production process went smoothly. Tang Zhen finally finished his work around midnight.

Looking at his finished work, he stretched, drank a glass of water, and then began to put on and adjust the equipment.

A simple yet practical set of armor, made of leather and thin steel plates, which didn't feel cumbersome when worn.

A long saber, forged and quenched from spring steel, with a suitable weight and balanced center of gravity, more than enough for combat.

A recurve bow bought from a store, along with a quiver of carbon fiber arrows tipped with hunting broadheads, and a sharp, pointed long spear.

With all these weapons and other miscellaneous items strapped to him, walking felt very inconvenient.

However, Tang Zhen didn't want to give up any of them. Fortunately, the storage space existed, helping him to lighten a lot of the weight.

After two more days of preparation, Tang Zhen had adjusted his mental state to its peak. He closed his door and began the transmission.

When the dizziness caused by the transmission disappeared, what appeared before Tang Zhen was not the wild grasses that covered the fields before he left, but a dilapidated building.

Tang Zhen's heart jolted, and he immediately drew his pistol from his waist, disengaging the safety.

With a weapon in hand, Tang Zhen's confidence grew considerably, and he began to carefully observe his surroundings.

From the appearance of these buildings, they seemed to be factory workshops, and he was in the middle of the factory area.

The factory area was very large and seemed to have been abandoned for many years, with some areas already collapsed. Tang Zhen concluded that this was a newly spawned wild building, but for some reason, he didn't see any monsters.

The factory yard was overgrown with weeds over a meter tall, and many strange plants with hard barbs grew among them.

Fortunately, Tang Zhen's pants were thick, otherwise, they would definitely have left bloody scratches.

He held his breath and moved forward cautiously, while also activating the map function, carefully observing his surroundings to prevent any monsters from suddenly appearing.

Just as he was trying to observe the inside of the factory through a window, a sharp scream came from the ruins.

Tang Zhen was startled at first upon hearing the scream, then immediately recognized it as a human sound, and it seemed to be a young girl.

Quickly pinpointing the direction of the sound, he cautiously hurried towards it.

After running about three hundred meters and turning past a factory building, Tang Zhen arrived at a sparsely weeded area and saw the source of the scream.

It was a girl of sixteen or seventeen, dressed in tattered clothes, desperately waving a small knife made from a sharpened piece of iron. She was fiercely protecting a terrified little girl wrapped in a piece of burlap sack in her arms.

The girl's face was now filled with despair and regret. Her thin cheeks, with their clear, dark eyes, were overflowing with tears, and she was roaring like a wounded beast. She wore a makeshift garment made from a plastic woven bag, and her exposed arms and legs were covered in bloody scratches from the wild grass.

Tang Zhen merely glanced at the girl, his attention then drawn to five creatures surrounding the girl and making strange noises.

The five monsters were only about 1.1 to 1.2 meters tall, with hunched bodies topped by large heads that resembled both dogs and rats. They wielded iron pokers and wooden clubs, and emitted a foul odor like dead fish.

At this moment, they were widely opening their mouths, large enough to swallow an adult's head, and constantly spewing foul gas from their interlocked fangs. They stared intently at the girl with a drooling expression. Even Tang Zhen's sudden appearance didn't attract their attention.

Tang Zhen's heart tightened. What kind of monsters were these now?

As he was pondering, a set of data in red appeared before his eyes.

"【Carrion Goblin, Level 1, extremely filthy, poor eyesight, enormous bite force.】"

So these monsters were called Carrion Goblins, and they had Level 1 combat power. If he was careful, he should be able to handle them.

With that thought, Tang Zhen quickly ran forward, charging towards the monsters.
