Chapter 215: #215 - Spirit Veins and Another World

Brushing off his sleeves and leaving – that was Jiang Wen's current state. He walked on air, surveying this world, like a god overlooking all living beings.

Looking up at the spiritual veins in the sky, Jiang Wen suddenly wanted to take a look. Countless spiritual veins existed in the heavens, but they were difficult to approach. He wondered what the current world's would be like?

Thinking of it, he did it. Jiang Wen floated towards the spiritual veins.

The moment he entered the rainbow of spiritual veins, darkness fell before his eyes.

Black blood converged into streams, flowing along the low-lying areas of the earth, leaving countless traces of black blood. These dense纹路were like a vast spider web, connecting countless corpses.

The ground was covered with the remains of corpses, stretching as far as the eye could see. No one could say for sure how many people had died here.

Distant black shadows gradually approached, adding a touch of gloom to this world.

"Crack."

The sound of metal breaking rang out, and vultures that had been quietly foraging took flight, beating their huge wings and circling in the sky.

Their keen eyes stared at these foods, trying to find the thing that had interrupted their feeding.

In the place where the corpses piled up, a hand stretched out from among them, then grabbed the headless corpse on top and threw it aside.

A person with a face full of dirt stood up from the pile of corpses.

"…" Jiang Wen looked up, letting the rain fall on his face. He raised his hand, looking at the congealed bloodstains on it, a hint of confusion rising between his brows. This didn't seem to be his body.

His lips were tightly pursed, and his clear eyes were particularly calm.

He withdrew his gaze and glanced lightly around. He pulled a piece of clothing from a headless corpse beside him to cover his naked body.

The owner of this clothing seemed to be a guy who lived quite well; the clothes he wore were much more gorgeous than those of other corpses.

In this place, there were only corpses and more corpses. The land was scorched, and not even weeds remained.

Jiang Wen put on the clothes and looked into the distance, his calm pupils slightly contracting.

The towering, skull-built pyramid was reflected in his eyes, and even from such a distance, he could feel its magnificence. He wanted to say something, but his lips moved without making a sound, and finally, he pressed them tightly together.

This was a battlefield, and the corpses that had not completely rotted indicated that the war had not been over for long. He kicked away a corpse wearing heavy armor at his feet, expressionlessly watching these dead warriors.

The tragic battlefield, with severed limbs and broken arms, entrails spilling out, or rotting like minced meat, was like a hellish Asura field, making people's hearts tremble.

He picked up a broken longsword from beside the corpse. The palm-width blade was incomplete and looked as if it had been broken by something sharp. Black blood had congealed on the blade. This weapon should have once killed enemies; only a strong and sturdy elite could have caused such a large degree of edge warping.

Now, holding it in his hand felt a bit strenuous. The poor condition of his body had exceeded his expectations.

"Where am I?"

Jiang Wen was somewhat puzzled by where he was.

He remembered that he was preparing to go into the spiritual veins to take a look, but he didn't expect to appear here the next moment.

After a moment of silence, Jiang Wen stopped dwelling on what had happened. Feeling the traces of mana flowing in his body, his tense heart relaxed slightly.

"Could it be another transmigration?" Jiang Wen smiled self-deprecatingly.

Jiang Wen used the sword to support his body, staggering slowly towards the distant skull mound. He could already be sure that he was not in the present world. As for where this was, he was not yet clear.

The gale in his ears gradually subsided, the rain slowly stopped, but the gloomy sky showed no sign of clearing up.

Jiang Wen stared at the skull mound, occasionally glancing at the ground. More and more naked corpses appeared under his feet, as if they had been looted by someone, stripped of everything they had on them.

These people all had a common characteristic—they had light yellow skin and sturdy bodies, a phenomenon that only appeared in times of abundant material resources.

They didn't have to worry about food and clothing and focused on health and wellness.

The surroundings were eerily quiet, the clear sound of the longsword being inserted into the earth echoing in his ears, mixing with his breathing to become the only sound he could hear.

The skull mound revealed its ruggedness. He raised his head, looking at the place where he couldn't see the top. Countless skulls had empty eye sockets, their mouths wide open in distorted shapes.

Everyone's eyes had been gouged out, leaving only empty shells of heads placed together, facing the sky as if in horror, or perhaps in prayer.

Ten thousand? Perhaps hundreds of thousands?

"Poof." The sword was rudely thrust into the skull mound by Jiang Wen.

Black, muddy slurry slowly oozed out from the gap, dripping down his face, exuding a faint stench.

His hand tightened, and he remembered the feeling of peering at the top of Mount Tai a long time ago. Now, looking at this skull mound of unknown size, the mood in his heart was not the same as it was then.

He casually picked up a long spear, weighed it, and prepared to leave here.

It stared intently at its prey, but did not make any further offensive moves. That look, like a cat toying with a mouse, made Jiang Wen feel that the other party did not seem to take him seriously. The weakling in front of it was just a mouthful for it.

Playing cat and mouse with me? Interesting.

The corners of Jiang Wen's mouth curled up, and an unexpected excitement appeared in his pupils.

He controlled his breathing, evenly and orderly inhaling and exhaling air. A pungent, foul smell entered his abdomen, and a feeling of nausea rushed straight to his brain.

Forcibly suppressing the discomfort in his body, Jiang Wen didn't expect that this monster could pollute the surrounding air. Feeling that his strength had recovered a little, he looked at the oppressive aura of the other party and suddenly felt a little emotional. For him, he had never encountered such a scene of hand-to-hand combat before.

The beast had been waiting somewhat impatiently, it bared its teeth, its muscles all over its body tensed.

"Awoo Er – !"

It moved, like a black whirlwind. Only the black shadow could be seen flashing past, and the piercing wind howled. Such rapid and short time could make such agile movements, inconsistent with the beast's huge body.

A pair of teasing eyes appeared in front of him, and a huge claw slapped towards his head, expecting the scene of brains bursting. The beast outlined a strange, human-like smile.

As it thought, the claws did not feel any obstruction…

The beast was stunned for a moment. The rat that it regarded as an ant had not died under its claws. There was nothing under it, no corpse of that weak person.

A feeling of shame and anger welled up, and the beast frantically tore apart the land in front of it. It patrolled the surroundings, trying to find the trace of that person. Being humiliated by an ant was undoubtedly the most frustrating thing. It wanted to tear him apart, grind his corpse into meat paste, and offer his head as a sacrifice, so that his soul could not be transcended.

"Puff."

A tearing pain came from the back of its neck, and a spear pierced through its neck.

Silently, without any feeling. It looked at Jiang Wen, not understanding why it had become like this. Shouldn't ants obediently wait to be slaughtered? The beast stared with copper bell-like eyes, and after a moment, it fell to the ground.

Everything that happened was only in such a short moment. Jiang Wen didn't have any emotional fluctuations. For him, solving the beast in front of him was only a matter of course.

He stood in place, pulled the sword out of the beast's neck, and then looked at the beast's corpse with some surprise.

The corpse gradually shrank, and finally turned into a human in cloth clothes.

If it was said to be human, it was not accurate. The other party had pointed ears and sharp claws, and their limbs were slightly longer than humans.

"What exactly is this thing?" Jiang Wen was a little puzzled.

A rumbling sound suddenly came from his ears, and he raised his eyes to look.
