Corpse Eye John lost very badly.
That terrifying stitched corpse, in the hands of Enchanting/Shaping Wizard Matthew, lasted less than a minute before being torn apart by violent Energy Shaping spells.
Ivan's judgment was very accurate; studying Wizard books day and night these past few days had more or less improved Ivan's intuitive judgment of spells.
Corpse Eye John's stitched corpse looked extraordinarily terrifying, but in reality, it was a standard embroidered pillow (all show, no substance).
Energy Shaping spells are known for their powerful explosive force, breaking a surface with a point, or utilizing phase changes and reactions between elements for bursts... these are the strengths of the Energy Shaping School.
And a "bloated" stitched corpse, other than becoming a huge, slow-moving live target, really had no great use.
Diana originally thought that Corpse Eye John might still have a chance to defeat Enchanting/Shaping Wizard Matthew.
But Ivan made a judgment completely contrary to hers, and the final development of the battle was exactly as he had predicted, which left Diana momentarily stunned, her lips moving but unable to speak.
"The Wizards of the Energy Shaping School are too ruthless..."
Diana looked at the center of the field, where Corpse Eye John seemed to have had all his spirit drained away, leaving only a dejected shell of a body; she felt a little unbearable.
Ivan knew what she meant—that stitched corpse was not easy to come by, and Corpse Eye John had placed his hopes on achieving some research results with it.
First Ring Spell - Stitched Living Corpse.
It was clear that Corpse Eye John, in order to cope with the oppressive contract from the academy, had placed all his hope and resources on this spell.
This stitched corpse had clearly been cultivated to its limit; as long as Corpse Eye John made a slight breakthrough based on this, he would be able to produce a Wizard research paper sufficient to meet the contract requirements.
But now, the Wizard of the Energy Shaping School showed no mercy, completely destroying that stitched corpse, which was almost equivalent to severing all of Corpse Eye John's hope.
Not only that, the discussions among the surrounding crowd grew louder and louder, becoming increasingly harsh to listen to.
"The Wizards of the Energy Shaping School are truly formidable... they can even win against that kind of monster..."
"I heard that Wizards from the Necromancy School all have a bit of a strange habit... they don't like living people, but instead have a special fondness for Ghoul's asses..."
"That's quite a lifestyle... The stitched corpse already looks like that, and Necromancy Wizards can still bring themselves to do it?"
Seeing the discussions becoming more and more outrageous, Diana sighed, gathered the hem of her long dress, lowered her hat brim, and her voice also sank:
"Let's go, the Necromancy School could only recruit two or three apprentices each year in the past, and now that something like this has happened, I'm afraid they won't be able to recruit a single apprentice this year..."
Can't recruit apprentices? Then how will I complete the task of recruiting disciples?
Ivan frowned and looked towards Corpse Eye John in the center of the field.
Amidst the noisy discussions, Corpse Eye John seemed to suddenly wake up from a dream, his face as pale as a living corpse, and he fled the crowd and the field without looking back, disappearing somewhere unknown.
Ivan sighed; he hadn't originally wanted to expose the Zombie so early... But having missed this recruitment day opportunity, when would he have to wait to complete the task of recruiting demonic cultivation disciples?
"Let's go, Mr. Ivan... Hmm?"
Diana's voice stopped abruptly.
She saw that Ivan, who had been standing beside her, parted the crowd and slowly walked towards the center of the field, and behind Ivan, the thin figure wrapped entirely in a black robe followed silently like a shadow.
Diana's heart pounded violently, and an incredible thought exploded in her mind.
Ivan... What is he going to do?
...
Enchanting/Shaping Wizard Matthew was very excited.
Whether it was the envious gazes of his school colleagues, the cheers of fervent supporters, or the dejected expression of his opponent, they all fiercely stimulated his vanity.
The process of defeating the Necromancy School Wizard was simply too easy. As for the Wizard whose necromantic creation was destroyed, what was his name... Corpse Eye John?
And who cared about him?
Matthew looked at the crowd, explaining loudly with a smiling face.
"Citizens of Horton Port, battles between Wizards are never about who is physically stronger."
"The necromantic creation summoned by that Necromancy Wizard just now seemed large, but in reality, it couldn't withstand a single blow."
"Any Wizard Apprentice from the Energy Shaping School could easily take it down..."
"Let me solemnly introduce, in terms of destructive power and control, our Energy Shaping School is a choice you absolutely cannot miss..."
As Matthew spoke, he glanced out of the corner of his eye at the young man in the crowd, surrounded by fully armed soldiers.
The Energy Shaping School had made a great show in front of the crowd, and it was expected that the number of Wizard seeds joining the school this year would certainly not be small.
However, Matthew's goal from beginning to end was to attract the interest of the son of the Horton Port Naval Commander; all the Wizards of the Energy Shaping School were paying attention to this matter.
The power of a noble with real authority, and the interests represented by that power, were enough to make the entire school take notice.
Just as his thoughts were drifting, he suddenly felt someone gently tap him on the shoulder from behind.
Matthew turned back in confusion, and what came into view was Ivan's pale and thin face.
"Hello, Mr. Matthew of the Energy Shaping School."
Ivan returned a perfectly enthusiastic smile.
"I'd like to spar with you."
Wants to fight me?
Where did this guy come from?
Matthew felt a slight sense of offended dissatisfaction, but due to his reserve and image, he only responded rather coldly.
"The school's simulated battle session is over, Mr.... Oh, it's you, the Necromancy Wizard from the Poor neighborhood."
Matthew squinted his eyes; he suddenly recognized the provocateur in front of him.
From the Poor neighborhood, a self-taught Wizard, an illiterate who knew spells... Ivan, labeled with these tags, had always been the target of his colleagues' ridicule and amusement, and Matthew was no exception.
This guy, he dares to provoke me? Does he really think I have a good temper?
"Listen, I don't care if you're sticking up for the Necromancy School, or if you want to play the hero and show off... Go back where you came from."
Matthew squinted his eyes and threatened in a low voice, "I don't mind beating you back to the Poor neighborhood full of prostitutes, boy toys, and addicts. Don't make me say it a second time!"
Ivan looked at Matthew's arrogant expression and sighed helplessly.
To be honest, Ivan still wanted to have a good spar with Matthew in a friendly atmosphere.
Although Matthew had caused the Necromancy School to lose face, Ivan had only transmigrated a few days ago, and his sense of belonging to the Necromancy School was generally weak; it was merely a temporary place of shelter.
As for Corpse Eye John's research results being destroyed, it didn't have much to do with Ivan either—if it hadn't directly affected Ivan's quest progress, he wouldn't have bothered to step out and get involved in this mess.
Isn't it better to lie low and develop steadily?
Unfortunately, Matthew's attitude reduced the possibility of friendly exchange to the lowest point.
Since offending Matthew was unavoidable anyway... then he might as well offend him more thoroughly. Ivan had already found this guy unpleasant to look at for a long time.
Matthew saw a half-smiling, half-not expression on Ivan's face, which made Matthew even more annoyed. He was about to open his mouth to mock, but suddenly heard Ivan speak.
"Alright then, it seems I need to change the way I speak..."
Before Matthew could even open his mouth, he felt a powerful punch land directly on his nasal bone.
This unexpected punch came too fast; although Ivan's physical fitness wasn't overly strong, it was still considerably stronger than an ordinary person's. This punch solidly made Matthew see stars, and blood gushed from his nose.
Matthew stumbled back two steps before barely regaining his balance, only to see Ivan in front of him apologizing sincerely.
"I'm really sorry, Wizard Matthew... Now, are you willing to fight me?"
The surrounding crowd let out a suppressed gasp.
This punch wasn't very lethal, but it was extremely insulting. Matthew felt a surge of anger ignite within him; he lost his usual composure, and his entire face became twisted with rage and humiliation.
"You... you despicable beast!"
The next moment, Ivan felt the scattered energy in the surrounding environment instantly change from disordered to ordered, from calm to frantic; this was a sign of a Wizard's mental power erupting.
As a short and obscure spell syllable was uttered from Matthew's mouth.
An energy chain, about two centimeters thick and overflowing with freezing energy, condensed into shape, twisting and coiling like a lasso directly towards Ivan's head.
First Ring Energy Shaping Spell, Freezing Whip Chain!
This was Matthew's most proficient Energy Shaping spell. Just minutes ago, he had used this move to tear Corpse Eye John's stitched corpse into pieces.
Now, in his heart, there was only the hateful rage of humiliation. Tearing one apart wasn't enough... Only by beating this hateful Necromancy Wizard until he knelt and begged for mercy could he make up for his damaged reputation!
Just under everyone's gaze, just as the freezing chain was about to hit Ivan...
Suddenly, a pale, thin hand reached out from a black robe and fiercely grabbed the oncoming freezing chain.
As simple as grabbing a branch.
The next moment, the chain broke inch by inch, turning into scattered energy that expanded outwards. The strong wind stirred up the Zombie girl's cloak, also revealing her pale, delicate, fanged and ferocious Zombie face to everyone.
What is that thing?!
