Chapter 11: Moonlight Beast

Chapter 11: Moonlight Giant Beast

Rain poured down, waves surged, and the dark green lake water shimmered faintly under the moonlight.

A huge boat sailed from a distance, cutting through the waves on the water, leaving white streaks.

Ye Yang stood at the front of the boat, gazing at the vast and boundless Bihu Marsh ahead, the night wind ruffling his hair.

After sailing for a while, the boat finally reached a vast expanse of water. Ye Yang looked around and saw a small island on this boundless water.

The group docked the boat by a high ground, and Ye Yang and a few others disembarked.

Several strong men took out a stack of cold, gleaming barbed wire nets, studded with iron spikes, and began setting up traps beside the high ground.

Zhang Liaoyuan said.

“That fierce crocodile is quite intelligent. When the moon is full at night, he will come up to the high ground to absorb moonlight. In another hour and three quarters, the moonlight will be at its strongest.”

“We will ambush him here and wait for that fierce beast to fall into our trap.”

Zhang Liaoyuan had changed into a tight-fitting outfit, looking much more capable than before.

Ye Yang nodded, noticing countless chaotic scratches on the ground ahead, as if caused by some giant creature crawling on the surface.

It seemed that the Giant Crocodile had been frequenting this high ground during this period.

The few of them found a hidden spot and concealed themselves.

It was night, the bright moon hung high, and the wind howled.

After about an hour and three quarters, waves surged in the distance, as if some giant creature was about to emerge from the water, causing the surrounding water to constantly churn outwards.

“The Giant Crocodile is about to appear.”

Zhang Feng, who had been silent, murmured, and everyone quickly lowered themselves even further, fearing to disturb the giant creature.

The water churned, the atmosphere was oppressive, and everyone held their breath, awaiting the appearance of this giant beast.

Before long, a Giant Crocodile, swaying his body, walked from the surging water onto the land.

This Giant Crocodile was four to five zhang long, with a long, wide head and a prominent bone ridge behind each eye.

Sharp, upright scales extended from his back to his neck, and his four legs had black and yellow spotted patterns like a tiger.

His tail was thick and powerful, leaving cracks on the ground as he walked.

Everyone looked solemn, and a Family elite Disciple had already quietly whispered into Zhang Liaoyuan’s ear.

“Patriarch, the Giant Crocodile has appeared. Should we inform the rear to start firing the Three-Ox Talisman Crossbows?”

Zhang Liaoyuan nodded: “Tell the people on the boat to prepare for attack.”

The Three-Ox Talisman Crossbows were heavy weapons they had purchased with Spirit Stones from an Artifact Refining Sect, powered by Spirit Stones and guided by talismans.

Just pulling them to Bihu Marsh had exhausted a dozen strong horses and wild oxen.

Zhang Liaoyuan looked quite excited; they had made thorough preparations for slaughtering the Giant Crocodile.

Once these giant heavy weapons were deployed and the talisman crossbows fired simultaneously, they would surely penetrate the Giant Crocodile and kill him in one blow.

He instructed the person next to him and waved his hand.

That person immediately understood and signaled to the back.

A tearing sound!

A piercing sound came, and a spear, thin at both ends and thick in the middle, shot out from the Three-Ox Crossbow, heading straight for the Giant Crocodile’s head.

With a clang!

The spear directly plunged into the ground, failing to hit the Giant Crocodile, leaving only its powerful tail trembling in the air.

Seeing this, everyone stopped dodging and rose from their hidden positions. Several people formed a circle and quickly approached the Giant Crocodile.

The Giant Crocodile roared, his scales bristling, his fangs sharp, his muscles bulging like a steel beast.

Ye Yang swung his saber, and the Saber Qi surged, absorbing moonlight. A cold, bloody scent permeated the air.

Under the bright moonlight, that fierce Saber Qi was like a crescent moon, cutting through the sky, directly striking the Giant Crocodile.

But the clanging sound of metal colliding came!

The exploding Saber Qi struck the Giant Crocodile’s scales but failed to cut them open, only leaving white marks.

The Giant Crocodile charged wildly, as if insane.

Ye Yang pushed off the ground with his toe, leaped up, firmly grasped a withered willow tree on the side, and temporarily rested, finally dodging the attack.

However, the others were not so lucky.

One person held a large shield for self-defense.

But when the Giant Crocodile attacked, the shield was instantly shattered by a terrifying force.

Then, the Giant Crocodile opened his mouth, and that person’s head was crunched and swallowed by the Giant Crocodile, leaving red and white matter splattered all over the ground.

In just a few exchanges, several people had their chest bones crushed and were thrown into the water, and one person died instantly, suffering heavy losses.

“No, this Giant Crocodile is not only powerful but also too fast! Everyone retreat quickly.”

Zhang Liaoyuan felt a great sense of crisis.

The Giant Crocodile in front of him not only had extremely strong defense but was also incredibly agile. In just one encounter, his side had already lost several people.

To kill the Giant Crocodile, they had to blind his eyes to reduce his sensitivity, and then use the Three-Ox Talisman Crossbows to deliver a fatal blow.

Zhang Liaoyuan glanced behind him. He had originally wanted to launch a joint attack with Ye Yang, but then he thought of the other party’s Qi Channeling seventh-layer strength and shook his head.

The opportunity to kill the Giant Crocodile was rare. The other party’s cultivation was still weak, and he was not skilled in movement techniques. Even if he was a Sect Disciple, he was still young and lacked combat experience.

If they failed to seize the opportunity and startled the Giant Crocodile away, and the Giant Crocodile submerged into deep water, all their plans would be for naught.

“Fellow Daoist Feng, you charge forward and destroy his eyes. We will support you from the side and attract the Giant Crocodile’s attention.”

This Loose Cultivator, called Fellow Daoist Feng, was a Qi Channeling Realm Cultivator with short hair and a tight-fitting outfit.

He was not a Disciple of the Fork Zhang Family but a Loose Cultivator specially invited from outside for this crocodile war.

He was skilled in the Flowing Willow movement technique, which was extremely fast.

Upon hearing Zhang Liaoyuan’s instruction, that person immediately burst out laughing.

“Patriarch Zhang, please rest assured! With me, Feng Hua, the Chasing Wind Sword, this Giant Crocodile will surely be subdued!”

Originally, the Zhang Family had not intended to spend Spirit Stones to have him participate, but they heard that the supporting forces from the main Sect were not strong.

Only then did they spend a fortune to invite him from Wangyue Mountain.

This person moved like a ghost and quickly reached the Giant Crocodile’s side. His hands slid down, flashing in the air, and with just one strike, he pierced the Giant Crocodile’s eye.

And everyone else quickly cooperated with him, some using sabers and swords, others throwing fireballs and talismans to restrict the Giant Crocodile’s movements.

Even more, several people pulled and stretched a towering giant net to intercept him, causing the Giant Crocodile’s speed to slow down involuntarily.

Zhang Liaoyuan was still a little uneasy.

“Zhang Feng, you go too.”
