Chapter 46: “Pig farming”

After the man in the white coat spoke, he smiled and looked at the bushes not far ahead. Even though no one had emerged from them, he waited patiently.

“Friends…”

The man in the white coat was about to continue calling out when he suddenly saw several figures emerge one after another from the bushes ahead.

Chen Bugu and his group walked out naturally; since they had been discovered anyway, there was no need to continue hiding.

“Friends, you must have also come here because of some disaster, right?”

The man in the white coat said to Bai Ting. After all, Bai Ting, still wearing a white suit, looked most like the leader of the group.

However, to his surprise, the man in the white suit did not answer him directly but turned to look at a slightly scholarly-looking young man beside him.

Chen Bugu saw Bai Ting turn to look at him, clearly asking for his opinion, and he didn't act coy, stepping forward proactively.

“Yes, we are from Yu Tan City. Today is the fifth day we accidentally entered this forest. What about you?”

Only then did the man in the white coat confirm that this slightly scholarly-looking man was actually the leader of the team.

“Hello everyone, I am Ding Wenli, from Liao City. As you can see, I am a doctor. That burly-looking man over there is my friend Xue Ke, also from Liao City. He was unemployed before, didn’t have a proper job, and just loved to fight on the streets.”

Ding Wenli, in the white coat, pointed to the heavily tattooed tough guy, seemingly explaining his wild behavior during the previous fight.

“Our group is made up of two merged teams. The brothers over there are from Guanzhou. We just met two days ago, so we decided to act together. After all, there’s strength in numbers, and since we’re all humans, the most important thing is to find a way to survive together, don’t you agree?”

Ding Wenli then pointed to another group of people, the ones who had just been Encirclement Goblins. They were looking over, their expressions varied.

“How many of these monsters have you killed?”

Chen Bugu pointed to the Goblins on the ground that were not yet dead.

Ding Wenli was startled by the question, clearly not expecting Chen Bugu to not only fail to introduce himself but also ignore his question.

Although Ding Wenli quickly put on a smiling face again, that momentary surprise and the fleeting anger and coldness in his eyes were still caught by Chen Bugu.

“Probably more than 30. May I ask what your names are, friends?”

Ding Wenli still smiled, appearing harmless. This record was enough to demonstrate their strength.

However, Chen Bugu and his group didn't feel much, as their eight people had killed nearly 50 Goblins in total.

Moreover, after personally reading the scumbag diary of Huang Yuanzhang from Tiancheng City First Hospital, everyone had become a bit more wary of this seemingly refined doctor.

“Oh, my name is Chen Bugu, and they are my companions.”

Chen Bugu actually didn’t want to say too much to Ding Wenli at this moment because he had already figured out why Ding Wenli and Xue Ke were so strong.

In the midst of their conversation, Xue Ke slowly walked up to the still-dying Goblins and delivered the final blow to each one.

And those who had previously broken the Goblin's limbs could only quietly retreat to the side.

The distribution of energy plunder would largely be determined by the final killer.

In other words, at least half of the Goblins' energy was taken by Xue Ke.

And the several people who had previously participated in the encirclement could only get a little each.

In the previous battle, Chen Bugu had found it strange why the strength disparity in this team of over twenty people was so great.

Xue Ke was Black Iron Four Star, Ding Wenli was at least Black Iron Three Stars, and among the remaining people, only two seemed to have reached Black Iron Two Star, while the others were all Black Iron One Star.

Now he understood; they were indeed “raising pigs.”

“Raising pigs” was the term people in the previous life used to describe this disgusting practice.

Everyone in the entire team served only one or two individuals, and those being served were disgustingly called “pigs,” while the rest of the team were called “pig farmers.”

The final blow to all magic beasts had to be delivered by the “pig.”

The result of this was that the “pig’s” breakthrough speed would be exceptionally fast, but the levels of the other team members would lag far behind others during the same period.

Because the “pig” not only plundered the magic beast’s energy but also the energy that rightfully belonged to the “pig farmers.”

This kind of “pig-raising” team was also common in the early stages of the previous life, but it was almost non-existent in the later stages.

This was certainly not because those “pigs” had a change of heart, but because the “pig farmers” had all died out.

Chen Bugu genuinely disliked this kind of pig-raising team, which openly plundered teammates' energy under the guise of “protection,” which was no different from bullying the weak.

And even if some “pig farmers” later realized it, the powerful “pigs” would no longer let them leave. Moreover, by then, the “pig farmers” had already fallen behind their peers in progress, so how could they survive if they left this team?

The fate of a pig-raising team was for the “pig” to devour the “pig farmers” completely!

Ding Wenli, of course, didn't know that Chen Bugu had already thought so much. He was just a little confused because he clearly felt that Chen Bugu's eyes had become much colder after he introduced himself.

“What is he doing?”

Lin Xiaoxiao pointed at Xue Ke and asked.

Only then did Ding Wenli notice that this team actually had two women who were both beautiful in looks and figure, and they even looked somewhat alike. Could they be sisters?

He couldn't help but show a hint of joy.

“Everyone should know that the person who delivers the final blow to these monsters gains more energy. Our team operates this way: everyone gives the opportunity to one person, and only when this person becomes strong can he better protect us and help others break through later.”

“Of course, there are also many people who are unwilling to fight; they need protection. So, the strongest person is also the one who rushes to the front in every battle; he must bear the responsibility of protecting everyone in the team.”

After Ding Wenli finished explaining, Lin Xiaoxiao's expression softened considerably.

They weren't fools; Xue Ke's actions just now undoubtedly seemed like forcefully snatching away others' achievements, but Ding Wenli's explanation made sense.

“Do you want to join us? We’ve discovered the monsters’ gathering place, and there’s a lot of food there. As long as we take it down, no one will have to worry about food anymore.”

“Moreover, since we are all compatriots, in a place like this, acting together provides mutual support.”

This time, Ding Wenli didn't look at Chen Bugu but directly at Lin Xiaoxiao.

He considered this invitation foolproof.

“Don’t be ungrateful! Since you’ve been here all along, you’ve seen our strength. It’s your honor that our captain is inviting you.”

Before Chen Bugu and the others could reply, a man with a sharp chin and monkey-like cheeks behind Ding Wenli suddenly spoke.

“I really don’t know what you see in them, Captain. Look at them, all dusty and their clothes ragged. They’d just be a burden if we took them along.”

After the sharp-chinned man finished speaking, he cast a contemptuous glance at everyone.

“Monkey! Don’t be rude!”

“My apologies, everyone. Monkey is a bit irritable because he was injured in a recent battle.”

Ding Wenli hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over, bowing and apologizing on behalf of the one called “Monkey,” which made Wang Bin, who had been about to flare up, unable to pursue the matter further.

“Okay, we’ll join!”

Everyone was stunned, then looked at the person who spoke.

Ding Wenli also looked over. This time, it was still the man named Chen Bugu.

Only, his eyes were no longer cold; instead, they were filled with a smile…
